First thought on opening the game, and our the Hero/Protag is stronger than what most legendary's are?
I would have sooner have expected all 1's in his stats, not that Protag is secretly God, but since you can run into Wild Pokemon Encounters before you get your First Pokemon, I suppose it's simply easier to do then code the Protag to dodge everything/have invincibility?
Pleasantly surprised to see that we can immediately use some decorations and that most of them save the Plushie have their own Unique Dialogue that adds to the flavor of the game.
Appreciate the Eevee Help Guide by the way, good to know that any Status Boosting items given to Eevee apply to all of it's forms once I got it, a little sad I forgot to say No first, chances were the dialogue would have been cute.
Appreciate you telling us that we can do the Soul Challenge later to get the other starters, a quick test shows the challenge is LV45's, so I likely won't be clearing that until I'm at least in my 30's with more solid items. Choose Cyndaquil which is likely the intended route, considering we aren't given Flareon initially. Although even if you were, he'd still be the choice to pick considering Flareon is by far the worst Eevee evolution in general. He might get replaced later on with Charmander though which did cause some hesitation but I'll cross that bridge when I get to there.
Also it's been stated before, but the music for this game is absolutely fantastic, you did a great job picking them out.
Was testing TM's and apparently Cyndaquil can learn Aerial Ace here as well, accidentally used it as well, thankfully redoing the gym battle after closing out was easy enough, but reminder to always save before using them.
Not sure who I'll give it to, since Stab isn't a thing, Pidgey would be a bit of a waste, but Cyndaquil just ain't a physical attacker so I guess I'll save it for now, watch as I hoard my TM's and never use them.
Finally swapped out Sentret for Nidoran, although I guess it wasn't to long of a wait. I guess I'll find out if they grow in the box now, I think I remember that they can if you have multiple side teams or something? Guess I'll find out later.
As an optimizer it's certainly something to think about even in what looks like a relatively easy game, for example Crobat VS Pidgeot.
Since STAB no longer exists, Crobat loses a lot of the advantages Poison type gives as now all he gets is an extra weakness to Psychic, VS Pidgeot simply losing it's resistance to fighting, granted Poison does mean he gains a resistance to Poison/Quad Resistance to Grass, Quad resistance to Fighting, Quad Resistance to Bug.
So a lot more resistances for one more weakness. and double checking there stats, Crobat has a ton more stats in pretty much everything compared to Pidgey especially with it's crazy speed stat which will pay dividends in this game. Guess I know who I'm switching to.
Might switch Nidoran Female later on, as now I have double Poison types which is especially bad when restricted to 4 Pokemon, plus she's just inferior statwise to King.
You know that you've played to many meta games, that when an NPC asks you not to close the game, you immediately save and close the game, alas nothing happened.
Finally found out how you rename Pokemon in this game, apparently there's an item called Nametag that lets you do it in the PC, here's hoping it's not a consumable or I'll need at least another to fix Vaporeon and Jolteon to Eon. - Sadly it is, but hey Manman can get it for me, so not that big a deal.
Interesting to see an explicit time limit of 25 days, wonder how that will play out although I doubt it will matter. Save the very rare sort of game like Persona, time very rarely matters in the slightest in a Video Game, but we'll see how it plays into the story if at all.
Not super happy that NPC's in different Pokemarts have recycled dialogue as one of the fun things is trying to find all of the dialogue in the game. Although it could be a ton of work to add dialogue to all of them, so perhaps it's for the best, as leaving it empty would be a different sort of bad.
Welp I confirmed with a quick battle and double checking, but as expected Pokemon in the Box don't get any EXP, I know that eventually team B is a thing that get EXP, so something to consider much later on. Does mean that like most Pokemon games, that you'll rarely ever swap and want a consistent team that almost never changes. Swapping isn't a thing, but neither is set so I'll have to carefully consider each new Pokemon.
Psyduck ain't bad, but think I prefer Nidoran, especially since team B is almost certain to have Magikarp on it eventually.
Finally got Man-Man back, man talk about a blast from the past I remember using and refining items and finding it a ton of fun, the song really brings back memories. Just listened to it and watched him resting at the home for a bit. Wonder how he works, if it's per step, or just time. Steps is likely the less easily abused method.
It's time, at least when you swap modes, like I did when I needed to go cook something, came back to a bunch of items. Felt good, especially since it gave me the last nametag I need to correct my earlier mistake. All Eevee Evolutions are now Eon.
Ninja Boy was easy to find in the prior two cities, but unless I found him and somehow forgot about it I never did find him in Arbor City, even after fully exploring it and completing it's three Side Quests.
Oh well, I suppose I can come back later, if I don't see him in another city.
Since there isn't anything telling us which quests we've already accepted, I'll make a note that I did take the Unown quest but since it just requires me to find and fight/scan several Unown with the Pokedex, not sure what I'd do to work on it, as I've fully explored the cave and talked to every rock, to see if an Unown would attack, maybe it's wild but all I saw were Dugtrio.
No stones for sale in Magnus City, which is there equivalent to Celadon which is a little disappointing, but a Moon Stone wouldn't have been for sale regardless so understandable.
Nurse Joy wasn't the most clear when talking about the new EXP Mode Balanced and Normal, especially since she talked about how it's only possible in Pokemon Centre's when you can do it anywhere. Should have just stated you can now use your Trainer Card to Change Modes.
I laughed at an NPC just allowing you to rename Silver and the other's for some amount of money, especially with Protag's response.
Glad I can finally buy Nametags as well, although I'll only grab one so it's an option. Can always fast travel back if I need more.
Damn that Crane description was pretty great, had to pay 5 Poke just for that, although I have a feeling the games will pay out far more.
Also see that there's some sort of weird code here, maybe it leads to another team rocket base? Might explain why they choose to try to take over.
I take back what I said about the Crane, as 7 Credits for 5 Poke is pretty great when the conversion is 50 credits for 1K.
If I want to get every Pokemon in this game, I'm going to need to play the mini games/crane it up for awhile as I suspect it's the only way to get Chansey/Larvitar/Dratini.
Two of which are rather great, and Chansey may be good as well if it heals the party for PP. I'll have to buy them all and test Chansey. Mini Game time!
Diglett got me 39 Credits for 10 Poke, on my first try and I can do better with it, punching was a lot harder, only managed to get 13 and that's with me trying.
So Diglett will be the way to go if I want to pay attention, if I want to just watch a Video, it'll be mashing A in front of the crane.
Some tests with 10 rounds show that you get something roughly half the time and it's usually closer to 4, so it's 50 for 20 credits, which is far better than direct conversion but not quite as good as one would hope, will run Diglett for two to three minutes and see how much I can get.
Managed to make just over 300 which is pretty decent considering that's straight up an attack boosting item, but I think I have a fair amount of money and I'd sooner watch a movie while mashing A, so the Crane it is, and with that description I won't even feel bad throwing a lot of my money into it!
After watching a short movie, while eating lunch and mashing A I haven't made that much progress but I did at least buy the Chansey, will come back later when I'm eating Dinner to continue it.
Finally got Team B which will help with the Evolve 50 Pokemon Challenge as well, along with giving me some more diversity.
Wonder if there's more teams further on in the game, but I doubt it since it already adds up to 7 with Eevee.
Got a Moonstone from Man Man, proving once more that he is the best and promptly used it to evolve my Nidorina into Nidoqueen, I did wonder if I was screwing myself over by locking myself out of her moves, but I'll likely eventually replace her with Kadabra anyways. Before I got Team B, he was in the Party with all EXP going to him, glad I could bring her back, and once again run, Eon, Quilava, Zubat and Nidoqueen, should be more than enough for Witney especially since Nidoqueen is effectively a fighting type with Double Kick.
Weedle failed to Evolve at LV7 perhaps due to being on the B team, I'll have to double check EXP every so often at the final LV if my suspicions are correct.
Ended up getting lost for almost two hours while on the phone at Ros Lake, went through Atlas Cave twice and tried Route 10 three times before I found the right path, kind of baffled at myself here. I feel like I've gone through worse mazes so I blame myself on this.
Wasn't helped that I first ran into Corrupted Suicune here when I was in my LV20's and came close to victory through liberal abuse of items, only to fail after a 20+ minute battle.
Loaded back as I had saved not to long ago, and ran into again a few levels higher and once again wiped.
Third time was the charm as I was in my upper 20's and managed to take him down despite 3 of my main members being weak to Water and Ice. Of course I was absolutely infuriated to see the next level Quilava finally learned Sunny Day which would have made the fight far easier to win, but glad it was done.
On a side note I wondered at first if Bagon was glitching as he wouldn't show up when I was looking at the Casino, but after I bought Dratini and Larvitar he appeared, so I guess I have more gambling in my future later.
Seems a bit more important than my general commentary, but somehow my menu button broke, and X, C and Escape aren't working to bring it up.
First happened on my controller when I was in Mor's Village buying a discount sale and found I couldn't open my menu strangely with the controller, mashed a lot of buttons trying to remember the original controls before it finally came up, saved in file 3 and then closed and reopened the game.
Loaded Save and the Esc, X and C were still broken, so I tried loading an older save, nope still broken, decided to try a new save to test if I had somehow corrupted all 3 of my files, but nope even in a new game the problem persisted.
Tried rebooting my computer first to see if that helped, and it fixed whatever the mysterious issue was. I wonder what happened, oh well, it worked out in the end.
This is what happens to me when I learn the true power of these sales, where they are always half off to begin with and any more is a greater sale, will have to check if they are all like that later on.
Finally made it to the Battle Tower, made it to Floor 7 on my first try with 3 potions used in between fights. It was a lot of fun and gave a ton of EXP, gave relatively little amount of coins as I only got 70, Dugtrio remains by far the most profitable from both time and Poke, with Crane being the easiest to ignore and mash through.
Still, this place will be incredibly valuable when I work towards evolving every Pokemon now that I've confirmed that Evolving counts towards the collection.
Fighting Zapdos with a timer of when I'll die to Poison gas was surprisingly intimidating, but it was an easy enough battle, some berries for paralysis and a Mega Potion was all I really had to use, thanks to Nidoqueen and Jolteon spamming Helping Hand together with Crobat Tailwinding everyone.
To be fair Zapdos and Registeel being jokes to beat in comparison to Suicune really shouldn't be a surprised as my team is both far stronger than they used to be and not weak to them like they were Suicune.
It's also interesting to see how far Eon is falling behind in some ways despite me loading him with every Stat booster I've come across, but he just has to deal with Nidoqueen having more varied moves all the time, and even Helping Hand as well.
Granted I do have 8 Rare Candies at this point that I haven't touched, mainly because I know the higher levels are just going to get harder and harder, and I haven't run across a repeatable challenge so far, with the Soul Challenge being far away, and Suicune being somewhat random.
Briefly debated even using them on Eon ever, as he could theoretically reach LV100 due to needing to raise everyone, but the joys of Balanced Mode means I don't actually have to worry about that at all, so using them on him isn't a bad choice. He may no longer be the strongest on my team, but he is still the highest level and he benefits from higher levels giving him more moves from all his forms the most.
Was really glad to finally see Thunderbolt on Jolteon as I never used Thunder Fang with him.
I'll have to think on it, for now his LV39 is fine.
Huh apparently I never got far enough to see Eeveeon in my prior games, truly naming him Eon was the correct choice I see. It doesn't look as nice as Eevee though, as lengthening him makes him just look more like a normal fox and not a super fluffy and cute animal.
It has some sick moves though, if it is something that becomes standard it may replace Jolteon as my go to Eeveelotion, we'll see after I win, although he seems to be based more on Flareon considering the sheer amount of physical moves which is pretty annoying as I've built mine to be a special monster primarily.
I do keep him, and his stats seem to be better and he has a broader set of moves so I guess I have a third physical attacker now, with Typlosion as my only special attacker.
Huh, apparently the hide and seek quest was finding the little brother and not the big brother. But the big brother Ninja did say he would be in Arbor Town and never spawned.
Took a break after I got my 6th badge to go back and grab some of the Corrupted Pokemon I couldn't get due to needing various tools, weirdly Balbausaur was also in the Berry patch so I caught it, but Pinsir is also somewhere there and I failed to notice him apparently? Will have to go back to it again later.
Think the Seedot I missed was just due to me not exploring well enough, because man did I outlevel that thing apparently, if the way it folded under less than 3 of my strongest super effective attacks was any indication.
Although speaking of things I left for later, I need to find Pickaxe lady who wanted those materials later and give it to her. I forget where she is, got the Pickaxe in Mor's so maybe around there?
Sadly she wasn't in the village or at Ferris town but at least I got the quest to bury bones which I'll go work on and complete instead. She might have been in one of the houses on the way there? Don't think she was in the Forest though. I'll have to think on it.
Found out that you can just click on the side quest and it'll tell you where it is, turns out the Mining really was in Mor's town and it was the Miner, Professor Oak was just saying Oak so I teleport back and sure enough some new side quests to do, before I continue. Might as well stop by and try the Soul Challenge as I'm already starting to pass the overlevling mark for it, as my Pokemon are now equal to his lowest level Pokemon.
Sure enough I won easily enough, and wow I honestly wasn't expecting every single one of Oak's quest to be a simple fetch quest nearby, could have done it way earlier.
Since I'm wrapping up all the side quests I left for later, before surfing down, I might as well go try the Unown Quest now, surprisingly it worked fine and I guess I had unlocked the Unown earlier it was just a matter of Diglett still spawning before and me getting unlucky and repeatedly triggering them before.
Got all the Letters but Z now, which is proving to be pretty stubborn, took me almost 30 minutes until I got it.
Aliatias has a point about recharge working out of combat, I'd honestly forgotten about that. Wish working out of combat is especially crazy to me. I'll have to see if any of my training Pokemon can learn it, might as well ask him.
Also finally tried Raj's Domain out of curiosity, expecting it to warp me to my house rather than the Hypervisor world where I instantly became the new master hypervisor, wonder if that's the cannonical end to the story. Well I'll see when I get there I suppose, nothing to useful for me here, interesting to see an item that gives infinite PP given for free as an initial item, not something I particularly need right now, but could be useful later on.
Now off to see Oak about the Void.
Found my first game breaking bug in awhile, and sadly this one will actually cost me some time, lost around 20 minutes of Void Progress, I'll have to double check if you can save in the void and be wary of that area.
I can in fact save in the void, so I'll start doing so every so often in this area in a different save file to prevent myself from losing so much time and progress, I can also double check if the bug is replicable or a one-off.
Nope it was in fact a one way glitch, so while it sucks to lose that progress, I'll remove it from the bug list as that's for repeatable bugs, nothing can be done about one-offs.
Got through the rest of the Void without to many issues but I failed to find Aerodactal even after double checking, perhaps he's by that number password that I can't figure out? I didn't get any clue on it as far as I can tell. Making a note to come back later I suppose.
A Flute is my reward for getting all 8 Gym Badges huh, guess it'll help with Snorlax, guessing there's another one blocking the way to the league although I never checked. Mildly surprised as I was expecting something to climb Waterfalls though.
Also officially finished all side Quests now, which is good to see, although it makes me wonder what the hidden trophy next to getting all the Eevee Evolutions in Misc is, along with hoping I encounter a Shiny Pokemon although I'll need to finish the Pokedex as well at some point in encountering different enemies.
Found 4 Sea Shells easy enough but couldn't find the 5th, so I ended up forking over the 5K so I could get the last one and get my flute for Snorlax.
Silver was a refreshingly close fight, didn't push me far enough to use items but otherwise, it was a solid brawl even with him only having 3 Pokemon, if he had gotten a Corrupted Weavile I might have been pushed to Item use as well.
Cool to see Eevee carrying us all the way to Oak, but we even had water Protag in the bag, don't go collapsing from that and not wounds.
Loved the dialogue when I picked No to trusting Oak by the way, was see-sawing for a bit but then decided if there was a gameover from it would be hilarious so I was leaning towards yes. But then decided if it really is a game-over you may be able to give it later on, so I picked No only for him to have done it while I slept. Respect.
Had some extra Dynamite so quickly went back and hit the places I was aware of before, but didn't have enough of which yielded Regice and Regirock to add to my Summons list of never used.
Honestly was a little surprised as I was expecting Articuno, never did encounter Entei or Raikou either so maybe they'll be in the Victory Road somehow?
Missed Wooper and Snubull in Route 7 and Resta Fall's, but strangely enough Crystal never mentions them at all in her phone calls even after I repeated her call 20 times as a test, thankfully the Quest Log makes it clear.
Also found what would have been my 5th Seashell in a completely different city, glad I didn't wait and just bought it.
I repeat I love the Quest Log it told me Aerodactal was on Floor 4 specifically so I went back to the void and got him, although I wonder what's behind that number code lock in the Void I never figured out even more now.
Welp found Mudkip behind a ledge and was surprised to see we get him from descending from above, guess we'll find Torchic and Treeko later on here as well.
Suspected the Hoenn Starters were that last trio of Pokemon for awhile although it makes me even more curious about the missing gaps in the storage beyond those three.
Mildly annoyed to see Crystal has Suicune on her team considering he's the guy that handed me most of my losses and she could only get him because I purified him in theory.
In practice I'm going to enjoy beating Suicune up for this, and unsurprisingly Suicune survived the longest and I got to have my entire team beat him up, only used a single Mega Potion and I wasn't even boosted for that fight. Worked out fairly well.
Wonder if Torchic is further in or if he was in the Dessert and I missed him and I'll need to backtrack, guess I'll see soon.
Alright beat up the 4 Hypervisors, and surprised to see an infinite left to right loop here. Guess I either advanced or backtrack.
Got the Anti Virus and I think I'll call it for now, pretty sure I did in fact miss Torchic, but I'll backtrack later. Kind of want to see what comes of finishing the story and if it gives me anything.
Got another strange game crash this time, Event Script Referenced an Event that does not exist.
Was at Victory Road and exploring, I'll head back there and see if it happens again.
Nothing at a guess maybe it was supposed to be Corrupted Suicune or something similar and I already fought him? Super Repel causes whatever it is to not trigger.
Think I'll go fight the Battle Tower and hit Floor 12 & 13 before I go fight the end game, may even come with a new Pokemon.
Got a multiplier of *30 and hit the cap of multiplier 10 and I still can't tell what that does to be honest, the bonus seems self explanatory you get more points at the end.
Wasn't expecting Floor 11 to break out the LV76-84 starters but it looks like it's time for an actual full challenge that may require item usage again, along with perhaps my first summon since I'm 20 level lower.
Did end up having to use two Mega Potions, but didn't quite get pushed hard enough to break out the summons, although when I'm grinding here later on so that I can evolve everyone, it'll be best to quite before Floor 12 next time. Losing one of my members would make it more annoying, and costly.
I also see the multiplier is just multiplying your points at the end, kind of feel stupid for not figuring that out earlier but it is what it is.
I know that I'm missing Torchic, and he's likely somewhere in Victory Road, but who are the 3-5 Pokemon I'm missing?
Someone has to be next to Snorunt, Sudowoodo, and Larvitar, and while it's not certain, I could also see 2 more Pokemon past Bagon.
I've fully finished the Corrupted Pokemon Achievements, but that's not saying everything since the three Hoenn starters aren't on it.
Also gotten all daycare Pokemon, Casino Pokemon and the Gift/Challenge Johto Starters.
Continued the story since not sure what to do about the missing Pokemon for now, Silver was a slog of a fight, ended up using two Mega Potions, and both of us were doing relatively little amount of damage, think he became a Dark/Ground type maybe, but might have guessed wrong. Only thought of a summon when I was mostly done the fight so I decided to skip it.
Guess I can save it for the big finale fight, if I remember, I do find it funnier if I just never use them as well though.
This fight is proving hard on stage three I'll summon Regirock and see how much damage it does since he's pulling out instant death tricks now.
Only 1K I do more than that when hitting super effective with how boosted the entire team is, safe to say not worth using. Mildly regret ruining my own amusement now.
With that I've completed the story mode of Super Eevee, it was a blast playing through this game. It was so nostalgic and enjoyable.
Also find it amusing I can save in the credit scene, did so in file 5. After credits is just black though, saved in file 6 and close and reopened the game.
Was still stuck in black, but realized that since all the menus were working I could just teleport out which I promptly did.
That being said, the last two story achievements are hidden from me, so not sure if something has gone wrong or?
Going to leave my save File for you to look at later, save file 6 is the one where I've teleport to a safe place after clearing the game.
5 is midway through the credits if you want to see right when it turns black.
