During my childhood, I enjoyed reading BIONICLE comic books. Non-comic book that I particularly liked were the Harry Potter and Artemis Fowl series. Now, I enjoy reading fiction books such as Ender's Game.

Aside from brochures, operating manuals, and tax documents that I read feverishly as a child, my favorite "actual" book would have to be "The Motel in America" which is quite an interesting read that examines the history of the hospitality industry in the US from the 1900's through the time the book was published in the late 1990's. Of particular interest to me was how the shape and architecture of motels/hotels evolved over the years, as well as the histories of the big-name chains.

If you're interested in the history of lodging, I'd really recommend checking this book out.

As for fiction books, I didn't read much (outside of what was required for school) and what I did read never really interested me.

My favourite book is The Messenger by Marcus Zusak. I haven't read it in ages, but I remember it being really great. A close second is Sabriel by Garth Nix. The other two of that trilogy weren't quite as good.

My favourite series overall is probably Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen. They're the most complicated and interesting fantasy novels I've ever read, and they're all extremely long. The reading order jumps back and forth between events and times, but they give you such a clear picture of the world...plus I like the idea behind the Deck of Dragons, and its quite entertaining sometimes.

I am very fond of David Edding's Elenium/Tamuli novels, though. Whilst the Belgariad and Malloreon tell a better story, Sparhawk's novels have me laughing practically every other page. So much dry and witty humour packed into one small space...

    Harry Potter Series:
Harry Potter and the Philosipher's stone.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Harry Poter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Halllows.

Yeah, basicaly I love Harry Potter. I think it's the surrealismof it all that intrests me.

Half Moon Investigations by Eoin Colfer is my favourite book of all time, with Q & A by Vikas Swarup ending up in second place. Both books are tongue-in-cheek, have amazing plots and have twists until the very end.

The Harry Potter series is probably my favourite series, and I couldn't choose one to be my fave book, however, the fact that the entire series is amazing and each book reflects it, I'd have to say, fave book = insert Harry Potter book.

well i figured since we had one about movies we should have one for books.(and i didnt see a thread for this ^_^) so what is your favorite book. one that you can reread a million times and end up loving it more then before. and what is the one book you would recommend to anyone who was looking for a good book to read.

anyway my favorite book would have to be the name of the wind by patrick rothfuss. it is simply amazing words cannot describe how good this book is. i def. recommend it ^_^

other good books/series that i would like to point out
morganville vampires series by rachel caine

I don't read as much as I think I should or would like to, I just don't find the motivation. Out of all the small amount of books I have read these are my favourites:

Aldous Huxley - Brave New World
Anthony Burgess - A Clockwork Orange
    Neil Gaiman - Coraline
Darren Shan - Procession of the Dead

And A Series of Unfortunate Events from when I was a kid, I used to read every day when I was little and this is the only series that I can remember being something really special, all the rest I've either forgotten or lost appreciation for.

@Eurydice: if you like vampires you should read the Darren Shan series.

Well, the thread had been posted before, so I just merged your thread with the still technically active one, as well as replies from your thread.
