Special Note- Full Metal Alchemist got me hooked on Anime (and i still enjoy it to this day)

1. First Watched: My first watched anime, like most people's, was Pokemon.

2. First Watched Knowing It Was Anime: I really have to think for this one, and I believe it was Full Metal Alchemist. Amazing anime, and the producer has produced basically every one of my favorite animes.

3. First Watched Subbed: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Great anime. Unlike alot of people who watch anime regularly, I generally tend to stay away from animes that don't have some type of comedic or romantic storyline or plot. That's why I dislike most popular animes in the United States, like Bleach and Naruto.

What was the first anime you ever...

1. watched?
Deffinitally Pokémon. But it wasn't until 1999 that I got into the franchise. If you count animated movies/series that were drawn in Japan, but are more of a collaboration between Europe(?) and Japan, I've seen many others before Pokémon.

2. watched knowing it was "anime"?
The Dub of Fullmetal Alchemist. I probably figured out what "Anime" was during my Pokéblade fandom, which lasted 'till October 2006 when I decided to watch FMA. I then knew fully well that it was "The real Japanese Anime".

3. watched subbed?
Fullmetal Alchemist again. When I wanted to rewatch the series, I couldn't find the dub anymore... Sub was the only option.

1. My first anime was Pokemon, but my first serious anime has to be Sailor Moon.
2. I found out Sailor Moon was an anime after my older sister lent me her SM DVDs. >.>
3. My first subbed anime was Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu or Lucky Star, maybe because I watched them at the same time. :P
4. My first manga was Sailor Moon.I don't know why, but I had this Sailor Moon craze in my life just over a year ago. And it was free online at MangaFox so I thought "Sailor moon...What the heck, I'm going to click it!" XD

• watched?: It was likely DB. Maybe Zoids, I really remember watching Lord Slug though.
• watched knowing it was "anime"?: Outlaw Star? Or maybe Ruroni Kenshin. All of this is from Toonami and Adult Swim, that's where it's at. Why they deleted it from the programming I haven't a clue, someone please enlighten me.
• watched subbed?: Probably Naruto. I found Viz Anime. It was not to long ago though. I actually probably just last year got back into anime by watching all that stuff from the '90's like Inuyasha.

a) Watched would either be Yu Yu Hakuso or Dragon Ball Z. It's hard to remember, but probably Yu Yu Hakusho.
b) ULTRA MANIAC. I was channel surfing and got to the channel 'Animax', they were airing Ultra Maniac subbed. The main girl really looked familiar (she looks like Sakura from CCS), so I watched it. I knew it was an anime since it was said on a commercial, I think.
c) ULTRA MANIAC! Though, for subbed online, The Law of Ueki. I love that shounen anime. I really should watch it again.
d) It was Pokemon Special. It was the climax of the Ruby and Sapphire arc and I loved it. Never heard that Pokemon had a manga, so I bought it in a heartbeat.

A) My first completed anime was OHSHC but the first anime i watched was pokemon.
B) The first anime i watched that i knew was a anime was Bleach.
C) The first anime i watched that was subbed was Shugo Chara.

First anime: I'm going to say Akage no Anne (Anne of Green Gables). This show got a bunch of reruns on Vietnamese channels back then, so I don't think it'd be much of a stretch.

First anime seen knowing it was anime: Pokemon. This was when I finally came to the West.

First anime seen in subtitles: Probably Naruto. I remember being a big fan back in the day and it was the first time I actively sought fansubs instead of watching on TV...Either that or DearS. I saw both shows around 2004-05.

First manga: Doraemon, definitely.

The answer to all 3 of those questions is Dragon Ball Z.

I watched it back when it was airing on Canadian Television, I was told by my sibling that it was animated in Japan and therefore 'anime' and I remember watching the 13th Movie subbed...

I remember the exact scene where Vegeta just starts cursing for no reason. Hirudegarn, the villain for the movie, giant bug thing (not Cell), destroys Vegeta's house. He gets really angry for no reason. IT'S HILARIOUS. o3o

Although, I might be wrong, Canada's go to Children's Programming television station was very anime friendly in the late 90s and early 20s. Sailor Moon, Digimon, DBZ and Pokemon were all airing around the same time. But I'm pretty sure DBZ came first. o3o

The fourth question is just Dragon Ball. Still say that holds the title as 'Most Original Shonen'.
