  • have you ever cried during a game?

If yes, what are a few notable ones? Please put in a spoiler box if your going to state a possible spoiler.

also, what do you think about these kinds of emotional elements in gaming?

I'm a really emotional kind of guy and so i find myself crying in many games. most recently would have to be Mother 3.
I finished it last Thursday and I felt sad for almost the entire next day. (felt better with dancing though (y))

the game i probably cried most in was probably yakuza 4. there were so many scenes that really brought me down.

NieR is the biggest downer of a game I've ever played. It made me misty about 4+ times through the game and NG+.

  • As strange as it may sound, I once cried playing Transformers for the DS. I cannot recall what exactly caused such sadness, but I believe it may have been more closely related to my parents' divorce and had simply been triggered by some sad occurrence in the storyline.

  • Dragon Quest IX.

It's a very, very sad game. In which most cases, you didn't realize you liked that character and when they died...man oh man.
Wha- Wha- What!? Argh! I need to finish that game!

Two of the most tear jerking games I have played was The World Ends with You and 999: Nine Doors, Nine Persons, Nine Hours.

Really, I mean, It tugged my heartstrings when Shiki... and Neku... aww.

  • Final fantasy X was the one that got me. Sad ending, was ruined by X-2 but that game can go die. The ending to X is the real ending.

Wish I completed Mass effect it was awesome but I sold my xbox to get money to buy yhings i want on ps3. lol. Worth it though.

  • I bawled at the end of Mother 3. I don't think any other game has made me cry like that. I also cried during chapter 6.

  • I cried in the following games:

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Red Rescue Team (The end. That was really sad.)

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Explorers of Time/Sky (Again, the end. That was just really sad. :()

Final Fantasy VII - When Aeris died. I came close then. I also cried at the end of that game too. :(

...That's all of the games I've cried in that I can remember at this point. I'll probably post more as I remember them.

  • I cry all the time with games. 8/

The saddest scene in a game I've played, hands down, was the ending of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. You know it's coming but from the moment Zack is reading Aerith's final letter, I was crying. It was just so perfect, tying in cutscene with actual game/battle mechanics.

    Other than that:
Elite Beat Agents - The song with the girl whose dad dies fffffff.
    Final Fantasy X - Ending.
    Final Fantasy XIII - Ending.
Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix - added sceen on the clocktower with Axel and Roxas
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days - Ending with Xion and Roxas.
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep - Epilogue.
Kingdom Hearts: Re:Chain of Memories - At the end when Naminé cries.
Okami - cried at the end, and at that... paper's death? Tobi or something?
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness - OMG THE ENDING. I CRIED AT A POKEMON GAME /fail
Professor Layton and the Unwound Future - ending again. oh my god I cry whenever I see this.
Tales of the Abyss - Ending after doing the contamination effect sidequest (it doesn't change the ending but gives it more meaning)

I love when a game tugs on my heartstrings. It happens a lot more with games than it does other media simply because you tend to spend 30+ hours with these characters and seeing things happen to them can be so sad.
