    Tentacle Wars

    Introduction

Welcome, puny mortals, to the return of the Tentacled One in the sequel to Blarzigord: The Uprising. I, gimmepie (known as Lord Blarzigord in this thread) will be serving as your game master during the inevitable disaster that you will come to know as The Tentacle Wars.

For those of you who haven't played mafia before, the basic idea of these games is quite easy. The majority of players will be split into two teams, the uninformed majority (usually called the innocents) and the informed minority (usually called the mafia).

Mafia games are split into two distinct phases. During the night phase, this thread is to be considered "locked" and you shouldn't be posting here. In most circumstances posting here during the night phase will result in your early demise. During this phase, the mafia members will talk privately amongst themselves to discuss strategy and determine a person to kill during the night. After a kill has been made, this thread will be made "open" again and the day phase will commence. During the day the innocents can talk within this thread and debate who to execute as punishment for the mafia killing. This isn't as easy as you might think however, as the mafia will be amongst you in secret trying to convince you to kill other innocents instead. This game will be a little bit more complex though as several third party roles will also be active with their own win conditions.

Some players will be lucky (or unlucky) enough to receive special abilities called night actions that they will be able to use to either help - or maybe hinder - their team. Night actions are very diverse - especially in Blarzimafia - and can range from anything to getting an extra kill, to investigating an alignment, protecting another player from death or Blarzigord knows what else. All night actions should be private messaged to me during the night phase.

If you're still confused about how to play, you should check out the Newbie Snail's Guide and some of our competed games.

    Plot

It has been many years since the Blarzigordian cult took over the PokeCommunity, outmanoeuvring the Masses and their Religious Oppression Agency as well as the Blasphemer and his followers. Since that overwhelming victory, the PokeCommunity has gradually become peaceful once more.

At first the Blarzigordian's followed archaic practices, engaging in frequent public sacrifices and torture sessions amongst other things, however with the eventual passing of the first Blarzident and the arrival of the second a more modern regime came into place.

Whilst religious practices are still enforced and opposing Blarzigordian law is still forbidden, things have become a lot more lax under the guidance of the new Blarzident. Not everyone is happy to see such a friendly face take the reigns however… throughout the seemingly peaceful PokeCommunity, die-hard Blarzigordians that oppose these modernistic changes are already banding together – and they are not the only threat facing the innocent.

    The Modernists

The new Blarzigordian regime. Ruled by the second Blarzident, this new oligarchical government and it's Emerald Army have progressed a long way from the tyranny of the previous regime. Nowdays only criminals are killed, worshipping practices are more lax and torture is outright forbidden. It would be foolish however to assume that the new Blarzident's regime will go down without a fight. The Modernists win when all enemy factions have been eliminated.

    • The Blarzident - The successor of Blarzident Charlie I and new leader of the Blarzigordian PokeCommunity. The new Blarzident is a leader of strong convictions who believes in a peaceful world. Twice during the game the Blarzident may overturn a lynch. In addition to this, when this player dies their last words will inspire a vanilla modernest to join the Emerald Army.
    • The General - The General is a loyal follower of the Blarzident and leads the Emerald Army in their stead. Once per night the General can send an anonymous message to any player.
    • The Operative - Under the command of The General and Blarzident, this individual can use their special skills to infiltrate any location and discover one player's alignment.
    • The Medic - This person can visit one person every night and should they be attacked, can save them from death.
    • The Tracker - The Tracker can follow one person and see whom they visit during the night.
    • The Clergy - The Blarzident's religious advisers. The Clergy share a chat together and each Clergy member has a secret role. The Clergy are always together and should one die during the night, the others will die also.
    • Citizens - Vanilla Modernists with no power outside of their day vote. If you do not receive a role PM you're a citizen.
    • Secret Role - I wonder what this could be?

    The Extremists

The Extremists are die-hard Blarzigordians who despise the new peaceful, quiet variety of Blarzigordianism. They oppose the Modernist government and its Emerald Army and will fight to the last man standing to see archaic Blarzigordianism reinstated. The Extremists win when they outnumber the other factions.

    • The High Priest - The High Priest of Blarzigord, they appear to the public as the leader of religious practices in the PokeCommunity, but behind closed doors they are actually the mastermind of the Extremist movement. They have the final say in kill votes and can call upon Blarzigord's spiritual energy to roleblock one person each night.
    • The Shaman - The Shaman has a strong spiritual connection to the Tentacled One. One per night they can choose a target and a word (with at least four letters), if the target uses that word during the next day there is a 50% chance they will die. Once in the game the Shaman can re-direct a night action targeting them, however this will cause them to lose their voodoo action.
    • The Sneak - The Sneak can send an anonymous message to one person each night. If they choose the same target as the General, they can see the General's message also.
    • The Converter - Every second night, the converter can attempt to convince one player to join the Extremist cause. This won't always work though…
    • The Acolytes – These are vanilla mafia members. They have no special ability outside of the normal mafia perks.
    • Two Secret Roles - I bet this has given you something to think about.

    The Cyborgs

This faction is a remnant of a long-forgotten experiment by the Blarzigordian government's science division. Scientists worked tirelessly to create a computer program that could emulate Blarzigord's thought processes and bring them closer to understanding the divine. The result was not quite what they imagined…

The Cyborgs win when they outnumber the other factions.

    • FathR - The intelligent computer program mentioned before. FathR is compelled to become a perfect being like Blarzigord. Using its carefully crafted cyborg body, it blends into the crowd during the day but at night it can assimilate one person into its hive mind.
    • The Assimilated - Those FathR has converted to cyborg units of its hivemind. Assimilated people will appear as FathR upon their death.

    Other Roles

These are roles not affiliated with other alignments. They have unique win conditions.

    • The Wanderers - Nobody knows much about these individuals, nor where their allegiances lie. They appear innocent when investigated.
    • McIntyre - The strange half-human son of Lord Blarzigord, McIntyre lives only to dance and spread love of Blarzigord's Tentacles through dance. It's a shame that if investigated he appears as an Extremist. Every night McIntyre can mark one person. Once during the game, McIntyre can throw a BIG FREAKIN' DANCE PARTY. During this time everyone can talk during the night phase, however all marked players will become dancers. McIntyre is immune to many of Blarzigord's events. If McIntyre dies, his dancers will be freed from his enchantment but TERRIBLE THINGS WILL HAPPEN.
    • Dancers - Those enchanted by McIntyre's wiggly hips and badass dance moves. Following McIntyre's party, the dancers will participate in an anonymous chat along with McIntyre each night.
    • Spring - Spring is the Tentacle Cat, a lesser deity of the Blarzigordian mythos. She starts the game with three bells. Each night Spring must give out a bell if she has any. If someone with a Bell targets Spring, the bell is returned to her. Spring is unaffected by most night actions so long as she has a bell, however she also dies as soon as she is targeted when she does not possess a bell.
    • Lord Blarzigord - Played by the GM, Blarzigord is an all-powerful tentacle deity who enjoys watching the petty, and often violent conflicts, of the puny humans. At random points throughout the game Blarzigord may start events or give items to players in order to increase his enjoyment. Blarzigord always wins.

    The Holy BlargleRules

    1. All PokeCommunity Rules Apply
    2. You may vote only once during the day phase so think about who you target.
    3. Please use [Execute] PlayerName bolded as the format for your votes. Votes not in this format might not be counted.
    4. Missing two executions will result in you being branded as a traitor and lynched automatically.
    5. Unless you are a member of a faction with a chat, game-related conversation should be kept to day phases in this thread.
    6. If you are DEAD you are DEAD. Don't haunt the thread with your posts.
    7. However, if you die (regardless of how) you will be allowed one dead post so long as it contains no game-related information.
    8. For executions, if there is a tie, a coin-toss will determine the tie-breaking vote.
    9. Don't post during the night phase unless instructed that you can.
    10. Night actions should be sent to me via PM.
    11. Abstaining during the day phase is not allowed and voting for yourself will result in your suicide.
    12. Praise Blarzigord
