  • Alternatively, if you have uncommon stuff in your collection, I could post this Mudkip and request that mon.
It will prep you for some uncommon things. The Battle Maison's MO is to target all holes in your defense and offense. I came really close to completing super singles once, and it beat me in the last match.
Okay, well then I will keep this little guy for the next person in need.

Welcome back! Glad to hear your team's mostly finished. Think you'll be ready for a battle soon?
Hey, haven't seen you on in a bit (time zones might have something to do with it). How's your team coming along? Do you still need the kipz?
I have a Mudkip with your name on it!

Actually, I named it Swarley (Swarles for short). But it's got everything you need: 5 positive IV's, Wide Guard, and a Modest nature.
I should have a Mudkip for you on Saturday.

I set a reminder for myself so I don't just play Battle Spot all day.
That's what be so Dazzling about dat Gleam, dargns be like

Just sayin, 20% flinch chance on Dazzling Gleam becomes 40% with Serene Grace. Frickin____Brutal. Both are good choices though ;)

I dunno about Blaziken, as a meta call. The reason Rotom-H and Talonflame are good fire-type options is because they can levitate over EQ. And you need that. Chesnaught also resists EQ as a Grass-Type and is immune to Shadow Ball (for Metagross), Sludge Bomb (for itself and Togekiss), and...

    - Bullet Seed (Swampert)
    - Gyro Ball (Togekiss)
    - Seed Bomb (Swampert)
    - Focus Blast (Hydreigon)
    - Energy Ball (Swampert)

    Benefits, yo.
Also yes, you have the right idea on how Paraflinch sets work. Air slash is a good choice too, but you may end up finding Dazzling gleam more appealing for the spread effect. They're both very popular on Togekiss.
The reason for the special attacks is that they bypasses Intimidate, making Swampert an answer to Landorus with Ice Beam. Swampert is on your team to handle bigtime threats in Aegislash, Landorus-T, Mawile, Talonflame, Bisharp, Zapdos, Heatran, and Thundurus. And for Wide Guard.

It seems silly I know, but you'll be surprised at the kills that it nets.
Something else to note is that 4 members of your prospective team (should you run Hydreigon) are 4X weak to something. Hydreigon to Fairy, Chesnaught to Flying, Talonflame to Rock, and Swampert to Grass. You'll also notice that we covered each 4X with at least 2 Pokemon and a guarding move. That's the key to good team synergy.
Always. Knock off is a high reward/low risk move. Talonflame also resists Fairy types if you're down to set it up on the bulky side ;)

You already know how to EV train and IV breed right?
So here's the downside to using Garchomp. One of its primary STAB (Same type attack bonus) moves hits your Metagross and burns a turn you could spend hitting stuff. Hydreigon perfectly covers Metagross's weaknesses (Fire is resisted, Ghost is resisted, Dark is resisted, and Ground is an immunity thanks to Levitate). Using Garchomp and Metagross together also leaves you weak to Intimidate from Salamence, Arcanine, Scrafty, and Landorus-T. It's good to have a core with both Physical and Special attackers.
Golly, where to start on cores. So you're gonna come up against the 2 common types of cores: FWG (Fire, Water, Grass) and Fantasy (Fairy, Dragon, Steel) a whole lot during your time in VGC. The idea of a core is that its members all cover each others strengths and weaknesses really well. I usually tend to run 2 at a time on my team by taking advantage of dual typing.

Here's a good article on Fantasy cores since that's the one you'll be using ;)

Yay! I use that same Swampert if you want me to breed the right Mudkip for you. Wide Guard is an egg move and starters all have 90% male/female ratios so it's a pain to breed, but I've been fortunate to have many a decent Swampert in my time as a competitive battler. You'll probs be preoccupied getting the Metagross up and running anyhow.

Do you know anything about cores yet? Metagross and Hydreigon are the start of a Fantasy core. We may find a use for that Togekiss as well, it would make the final member of the core. And then you'd only have 2 slots left to fill out!
