I will say this much.
Unlike Crystal, which has 100% no justification of being played over Heart Gold and Soul Silver, Emerald actually can compete with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (Which lacks the arguably fun Battle Frontier) and actually has clean enough graphics to hold up to modern...
I'm afraid there isn't.
However, Alakazam is not the only useful Psychic type in the game. There are other Psychic types with a lot of use like Exeggutor, who's a lot slower, but has a Special Attack on par with Alakazam and Hypno, who is way better than Alakazam defensively.
If the punches and kicks are enough to shatter Rock, why shouldn't they be enough to shatter Ice (Which is a lot less hard than Rock)? So, removing Ice's weaknesses would only make sense from a competitive standpoint, not a logical one.
Besides, removing Ice's weaknesses would eventually make...
Everything that's SE against Ice is SE against it for a reason. It's saying that strong muscles (Fighting), stone (Rock), flames (Fire) and metal (Steel) can all penetrate through Ice (Plus, ice picks are made out of metal).
Not to mention since Ice is already a broken offensive type, they...
Pairing Shedinja with Focus Sash (So it can survive a hit) along with Golduck with Cloud Nine (To stop weather damage) and Quick Claw (Which takes care of Speed issues). Having Golduck use Soak on Shedinja, making it a two weakness monster, and then having Shedinja use Hone Claws, raising it's...
Typhlosion. It's not as versatile as part Dark Houndoom (Who is my other fav), but Typhy has powerful moves like Fire Blast and high enough Speed and Special Attack that allow him to use them semi effectively.
The Clefairy is small potatoes. It's that darn Miltank that's trouble.
I send in my Noctowl to Flash reduce it's accuracy and then Quilave to Smokescreen away the rest of it, crippling the reliability of it's pesky Rollout. Then, I finish it off by sicking my Onix on it to not only Screech away...
The reason why Crystal was released separately and not Yellow is probably because Yellow wasn't as much an improved remake as it was a tie in game to take advantage of the anime's popularity wheras Crystal was the first Pokemon game designed specifically as the improvement to it's sister duo's...
Goldenrod City. Not only does it have the big Pokemart, Bike Store and Magnet Train, but it's within walking distance of the Bug Catching Contest and especially the Breeding Center.
I wasn't dissing Smeargle. In fact, I like Smeargle. I was just being honest. Bad stats are bad stats and Smeargle has bad stats.
However, it does have the best movepool of any Pokemon by default. Plus, this moveset (Which only Smeargle can learn) is a lethal set up on an opponent: Spider Web...
Even a hardcore Smeargle fan can admit that the Pokemon has disgusting stats.
However, the ability to learn every move in the game makes it a godsend in the breeding department.
As much as I love both Hercross and Scizor, I am going to have to give the final point to Scizor because 1 weakness is better than 3 and with that defensive advantage, Scizor makes better use of Fury Cutter than Heracross.
Aipomz.
Also, I agree that Porygon2 is boss, especially with Evolite when it can tank with only one weakness and still hit back hard with a high special Attack.
Admittedly, Ho-Oh is a better Pokemon offensively, because he has more strengths and better attacking stats.
However, Lugia is a better defensive Pokemon because he lacks any double weaknesses.
