I'm afraid there isn't. However, Alakazam is not the only useful Psychic type in the game. There are other Psychic types with a lot of use like Exeggutor, who's a lot slower, but has a Special Attack on par with Alakazam and Hypno, who is way better than Alakazam defensively.

Even a hardcore Smeargle fan can admit that the Pokemon has disgusting stats. However, the ability to learn every move in the game makes it a godsend in the breeding department.

As much as I love both Hercross and Scizor, I am going to have to give the final point to Scizor because 1 weakness is better than 3 and with that defensive advantage, Scizor makes better use of Fury Cutter than Heracross.

Admittedly, Ho-Oh is a better Pokemon offensively, because he has more strengths and better attacking stats. However, Lugia is a better defensive Pokemon because he lacks any double weaknesses.
