Pokemon Red, I actually got it for Christmas if I recall correctly. Charmander being the first Pokemon I instantly picked. Eventually the internal save went out, so I had to get a second Pokemon Red the following the year.

I usually just pick who looks better between the two, the gender does not matter. In the case of X/Y, the female had more customization options, so I went with her.

My run was with Fennekin, I enjoy its whole evolution line. I tend to go with the fire types naturally.

I agree with this sentiment. If I had to pick a specific Pokemon, Glaceon being better would be great.
