umm...Google had too much info and didn't know where to start!

I know I could look this up but every time I do I find d a bunch of information and don't know where to start. But how many types of pokemon are there and what are they. It has grown a lot since I have played last.

There's currently 1718 different Pokemon types as of Generation 6:

1) Fire
2) Water
3) Grass
4) Electric
5) Normal
6) Flying
7) Poison
8) Bug
9) Psychic
10) Ground
11) Rock
12) Dark
13) Steel
14) Dragon
15) Ice
16) Fighting
17) Fairy
18) Ghost
