.background
it's been 30 years since Voldemort was defeated. The world has changed in some ways, and stayed the same as ever in other ways. While it's almost certainly a truth that there will always be people in the world with similar thoughts as the last Dark Lord, there has been a movement over the last few years with radical ideas of the quite opposite kind. Organizations have appeared whose main purpose is to convince wizards and witches around the world that it is time to reveal the magic world to the muggles.

some, like the large group by the international name the Inferiors, originating in Japan, try to argue for that the muggles have matured and that their imagination and lifestyle these days could handle the revelation, but that it would have to be done very officially and carefully. But there are other groups, such as the shady Superiors, who want to do it abruptly or at least casually. The Superiors in particular were formed in the United States of America, as a countering to the Inferiors, when the Inferiors failed to get the wizard world hooked on the idea after several years has passed since the initial suggestion.

in the midst of all this, the United Kingdom and most of northwestern Europe were for long mostly untouched or uninterested by these new ideals. At least officially. But over the past months, there have been some strange arguments going on between representatives of the Inferiors and the Ministry of Magic. For centuries, Hogwarts has been the main place of magical education for all of Great Britain. The Inferiors suggest that Hogwarts lets go of what practically is a monopoly on education, and that new schools are started around the country - with the ultimate goal of mixing magic and muggle children. And for once, the Superiors in the UK claim to agree with the Inferiors wholeheartedly...

.plot
a new year is starting at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! It's the 1st of September and all students, new and old, are enjoying their first dinner in the great hall. The teachers and staff are sitting at the honorary table as usual, headmaster Atterswall just having finished his very short welcome speech. You are one of the students sitting at the tables, nervously new or comfortably returning. That is when your world is tossed upside down.

suddenly, one of the seventh year students in Ravenclaw climbs up on his table in the middle of the great hall and hastily chugs down some kind of potion before anyone can stop him. The hall grows dark, except for the skin of the young man, which is now glowing in an eerie, blue light as he starts talking with a booming voice that is surely not his own.

"Our ideals are superior! Hogwarts will fail its mission and end! Curses have been placed on inhabitants of this castle and they will show the world how badly equipped this ancient place is to deal with the future! The future is now and it belongs to all human beings! Hogwarts will fall! The curse of Hogwarts has been cast!"

for a few moments, everything is silent and dark as people try to grasp what has just happened. Then the room turns bright again and the boy tumbles down from the table, unconscious.

what starts as a whisper quickly grows into a roaring, concerned chatter around the hall as teachers rush forward to pick up the Ravenclaw boy. But the Headmaster stands up calmly and clears his throat.

"Silence please," he says, not with a particularly raised voice, but everyone seems to hear him clearly and silence falls again. "Prefects, please escort the students of your House back to the dormitories. Now."

as the students start shuffling towards the entrance hall, many groaning from not getting to finish their dessert and others throwing scared looks at each other, headmaster Atterswall calls some of the teachers to him at the honorary table.

"In case something really has been done here, I want you to stay in your respective House tonight," he tells the four Heads of the Houses in a low but firm voice. "Keep a watchful eye and be vigilant of any pupil in trouble. Oh and," he adds before they walk away to follow their students, "you'll get tomorrow off. So don't fall asleep!"

meanwhile, as the night begins, you realize that there might actually be a curse put on you. How ever are you going to deal with this?

.clarifications
this is a Harry Potter RP, which completely disregards any canon future after the books. We can of course assume that the Potter kids have come and gone at Hogwarts, and possibly that the muggle culture is a bit more advanced but we should mostly just assume that the world looks like what it does now. It just happens to be 30 years later (meaning 2030 somewhere, if you go by the most canonical timeline in the books).

you will mainly play as a student, either a new 11 year or a 17 year old starting their last year, or anything in between. But you may also sign up with a secondary character, if you feel like there would be a NPC you'd feature a lot anyways. They may have a curse too.

that's right. This RP won't just be about going to school at Hogwarts, because how fun would that be really? :) When signing up, you will be inventing some kind of curse or bothersome power that your character discovers some time in their first days at Hogwarts this semester. You've got pretty much free reins, but I'll let you know if I want you to tweak your curse somehow. Be creative, make things interesting!

I will play the staff of Hogwarts and probably toss in some other kids now and then, both with curses and without them. Naturally, the staff will be working with protecting the students from whatever mess their curses might create, and also towards finding out how to get rid of them and how they were really cast. The biggest question is not exactly who did it... It's only a matter of time before the Ministry of Magic finds out about this and things will start to stir unpleasantly in this part of the world. Get ready.

.rules
- Follow all PC and RPC rules. The RP is rated T, so be tasteful.

- You may sign up with 1 or 2 characters. Only one of them must be cursed, the other one can be if you want them to. If you realize later on that you would like to have a second character, it's ok if you only signed up with one now.

- Classes will usually be between 8-10, 10-12 and 13-15 IC, with club activities 16-18 or 19-21 and dinner at 18. But most likely we'll just mention stuff from classes, having you briefly recap your character's thoughts or actions there, and let the main RPing be in between and afterwards. Exceptions might be if I have events in mind.

- You need to post in the OOC thread once in a while, at least every week. Posts IC can take a while to make sometimes, especially if you are waiting for someone. So make sure to show a lifesign in the OOC thread now and then so that I know that you are still in!

- No colored background or colored text or special fonts allowed for the main text in your IC posts. I know many love to use fancy css and colors and whatnot, and feel free to add images and headers and stuff around the main text - but I really prefer if you don't mess around with the actual main text. Readability is priority. It's okay to style and css your SUs in whatever way you want though!

Sounds pretty neat. Especially since Harry Potter rps probably don't come around much in this community. I'm pretty free, so I'll hopefully be able to see if I can come up with an SU tomorrowish. Expect a VM some minutes after I post this.

Sounds like a great RP! But first a question, would it be alright if a student was to take advantage of their curse in some way?

Most certainly! I might look at all your curses together once a few SUs are up, and try to discuss what kind of standard we should set ^^ But right now, I'm looking forward to what madness you can come up with.

Or, you know, just an extra toe or three. To not fit in your shoes will be a bummer once fall strikes ;)

Aaaand, I'm done! I hope so, at least. Lemme know if anything needs to be edited. Sorry personality and history are so long... I tried to make them brief, but I get carried away when it comes to characters I really like.

Name: Fitz Kuroji
Birthday: Jan. 28
Age: 16
Gender: Female

Appearance:
Spoiler:

Personality: Fitz is perhaps the friendliest, yet also the oddest and maybe even the most frightening, character to be found in Hogwarts. Always the first to greet new students in the House of Slytherin, Fitz can't go without introducing each and every person to Ducky, who she considers her closest friend. It isn't even that she simply wants to introduce him to everyone; it's more of a need to introduce him to everyone. Any other conversation can wait until after Ducky has been acknowledged. Once the introductions are finished, she is more than happy to continue on in completely pointless conversation, discussing the fine points of the invisible puff berries (which are most certainly the real reason people sneeze).

Fitz only shares this sort of friendliness with Slytherin since, while she may have some acquaintances in other houses, she only has room for one loyalty, and that loyalty is to Slytherin and Slytherin alone. The other houses and their heads can just rot for all she cares. This isn't to say she holds any respect for her fellows in Slytherin; far from it. Gaining respect from Fitz is nigh impossible, unless you hold a position that demands it. For Fitz, the only two positions that demand absolute respect and obedience from her are the head of the House of Slytherin and the Headmaster of Hogwarts.

Though, just because one doesn't have Fitz's respect doesn't mean she won't consider them a dear friend and at least contemplate listening to them. Getting too close to Fitz can be dangerous, however, as Fitz is incredibly possessive and protective of those who get too close. If she catches even the slightest hint that one of her friends might be in trouble, she will hunt down the perpetrator and deal with them as she sees fit. Or, not quite as she sees fit since, as she has learned in recent years, what she sees fit is usually a bit more violent than is considered morally right. Thus, she had to learn to deal with things more... peacefully, much to her disgust. Or at least, if she can't think of a more "peaceful" solution, she ensures that she won't be found out.

Old habits die hard, though, and Fitz still has a difficult time understanding just what is so terribly wrong about her interests - these interests being to cause others to scream in terror and pain. It's not like she doesn't fix those she plays with when their games are done... even if she did leave some with both mental and physical scars in her childhood, particularly her family's house elf. After arriving at Hogwarts, though, she quickly learned that stabbing someone in the arm with a pen just to see how far in it would go was most definitely not ok, even if she does always cast a healing spell on them right after. And so she has sulkily turned to preying on stray rodents and other critters that no one will miss.

The only reason she wasn't immediately expelled for her deranged behavior during her first year at Hogwarts was because of her intelligence. Odd and sadistic though she may be, she is a quick leaner. Most of what she learns, though, seems to come from her own reading and observations, as she rarely pays any attention to her teachers in class, claiming that their voices bore her. Boring as she may find her teachers, however, once she encounters a subject that catches her attention, she will obsessively learn everything she can about it until her curiosity has been sated. Seeing that her obsession with getting what she wants could be used to gradually change her, Fitz was given until midway through her first year to shape up enough that she at least wouldn't be stabbing anymore people with pens or anything else of the like. Obviously since she is now entering her 6th year, she succeeded in quieting her blood lust.

Ancestry: Half-blood

History: Fitz's father was the wizard of the pair, her mother being naught but a muggle with no knowledge of her husband's magical life. All she knew was that he worked at a hospital; she had no clue that he was Healer at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, and she wouldn't discover this for quite awhile yet.

It was clear from the moment she was born that Fitz was going to be troublesome child. Always seeking attention, chubby baby hands constantly wandering and reaching for anything they could grab and stick in her mouth. From the moment she could crawl, she'd vanish from sight if they turned their backs on her for even a moment, and eventually she'd be found playing in some dusty cupboard.

Fitz was five when her mother finally figured out that there was something abnormal about her husband and daughter. At first, when strange things started happening around Fitz, such as small objects moving towards the child or small burst of colorful light exploding around her hands, she thought they were just tricks of her own mind. But it soon become clear to her mother that Fitz was the one causing these strange happenings. Of course, her mother panicked and told her father about it, at which the father finally admitted to being a wizard. At first, she didn't believe him; but after a few demonstrations, it became clear that he was telling the truth. Well, Fitz's mother was about to have anything to do with that "damned witchcraft" and so she left Fitz and her father then and there.

Fitz was too young to really understand what had happened. All she knew was that her mother had gone off somewhere and that she never saw her again. As for her father, he became more distant after the divorce, until he married again a year later and left her completely in the care of a house elf.

This time, her father had married a witch who already had two pureblood children of her own. Both of these children were older than Fitz, one already in his second year at Hogwarts and the other only one year behind him. Both her new step-mother and her step-brothers looked down on the half-blood Fitz, and to the young girl's dismay, her father did nothing about it. And so, years of teasing and bullying, courtesy of her step-brothers, began.

It was during this time that Fitz's mental instability became more apparent. There'd always been something a little off about her, such as how violent and morbid she was for such a young child. But with no one else to turn to, she began taking her frustrations out on the family's house elf, which was quite unfair since the house elf was the only one who really even catered to Fitz's needs. Of course, no one really cared when the house elf started developing bruises and cuts; he was just a house elf, after all. Attacking the house elf wasn't going to stop her step-brothers from scorning her, though, and Fitz eventually turned to more drastic measures. Without a wand and teaching, there wasn't much she could do against them; but then, by this time they were both Hogwarts students so neither of them could use any magic against her without risking getting expelled.

So she started with what she knew. As her father was a Healer, he kept a great many books on potions and healing magic in his study, and it was easy enough for Fitz to get her hands on those. Of course, a Healer also had to know about the poisonous side of things, and it was about these things and more that Fitz read. One can only imagine what a young, ill mind can come up with after reading such things, and Fitz was both of these. The imagination of a 10-year-old mixed with morbid cunning and a thirst for revenge brought about all sorts of unpleasantness to the two older step-siblings. From being covered in boils, to their eyes being swollen shut, to insufferable itching, they experienced it all. Of course, if the source of all this had been traced back to Fitz, she would have been in the worst kind of trouble; however, she was careful to never leave a trail. Her step-mother never even thought to suspect her, since she didn't believe a half-blood would have the intelligence to be able to plan such things, and her father was much too busy with work to deal with it.

Luckily for the brothers, they had both graduated from Hogwarts by the time Fitz was enrolled and they no longer had to deal with her. It was just before her first year at Hogwarts began that Fitz got her current pet, Ducky the elf owl. To her, he wasn't merely her pet, but her first friend, and to this day her remains her closest companion.

House: Slytherin

Curse: Any organic being (human, animal, insect, etc.) that Fitz touches with her hands immediately becomes completely paralyzed, though this only last for at most ten seconds before they regain all bodily functions. Though, if Fitz keeps her hands in contact with them, they will remain paralyzed for as long as her hands are in contact with them. Even Fitz herself is not excluded from this, meaning if she touches herself with her hands, she is paralyzed for the next few moments.

Extra:
-Fitz's wand is made of cypress wood and has a core of demiguise hair combined with doxy wing.
-Fitz has a pet elf owl named Ducky.
-Fitz excels most at Transfiguration and Herbology.
-Fitz's theme song.
-Fitz is a registered animagus, with her animal form being a cat. Her identifying mark is a log bunch of fur that falls across the right side of her face, covering her eye, much like her bangs in her human form.

Full body appearance as a cat:

I saw this RP and I was like...you know what this sounds pretty fun....sooo some time later and I decided to work on an SU and here it is for now.
Finished it~

Name: Morrison Watson
Birthday: 1st of August
Age: 16
Gender: Male

Appearance: With a mop of messy blond hair atop his head and a rather angular face Morrison is rather nice looking, while not the most charming he has a more mature look to him. His eyes are a rather strange crimson color and there are black marks under his eyes due to a mild case of insomnia. Morrison isn't extremely athletic but deigns to at least be fit enough to run a mile or 2 so he has some muscle but not too much. He is rather tall standing at around 6'2", he assumes that he got it from his father's side of the family, and around his neck is a rosary with a ruby embedded in the middle. The rosary itself has bit of sentimental value to him as it was one of the few presents that he has received from his family or more specifically his Father. On his face are a pair of simple pair of glasses with a dark green frame.

While at school he is of course wearing the traditional Slytherin colors of green and silver with black of course being the main prevalent color of his robe, as much as he despises wearing it. On any breaks he may be on or just any time he feels like he can get away with it Morrison wears a pair of faded blue jeans and a short sleeve dark green shirt along with black running sneakers. These clothes are also usually underneath his standard school attire at all times as he believes one should always be prepared for all scenarios including wardrobe malfunction, but it's really a excuse to wear the clothes he likes in case an "accidental" fire starts.

Personality: Nearly apathetic, lazy, lethargic are all words that could describe how Morrison is even if it does not fit the behavior one would expect of him. Morrison breaks all views about how a typical Slytherin should act at first glance due to his behavior. He barely cares enough to even introduce himself to people and loves to annoy others by simply remaining aloof most of the time. His academics however are somehow all passing at a high level and in rare cases he is even the top of the class though most people believe this to be simple luck on his part and they would be very much mistaken. Morrison is what you could call a genius plain and simple but is much too bored with the world itself to even put all of his effort and in the rare cases he does it is very clear that he is much smarter than what he appears to be. Though he is bored with the world he plans on making it much more interesting if he can, at least for himself if he can cause changes to happen.

Morrison is very manipulative if he wishes to be and it is mainly because of how he grew up exactly, as a young kid a particularly odd series of events led to him playing a certain video game series he found. It's characters you could say heavily influenced him in such a way that matured him much further than most other kids and left him bored of the world around after realizing that there was almost no one who could match him mentally. He is very much emotionally unhinged deep below the surface and has nearly killed members of his family twice because of how he used to be, he didn't care about what others thought either which made it very hard for him to change to a much more stable personality. With a stable personality though he used it to manipulate others into embarrassing themselves, telling him secrets, getting them to do things with him etc; whatever he wished to make them do really. It became something of a hobby of his to simply watch people until he found what made them weakest so that he could exploit it, though he has changed a bit with age.

Nowadays he is much more mellowed than what he was after a lot of effort from his parents and personal councilor, and now is content with simple manipulation of the world around him. Whether it be secrets or small facts that are of lesser importance he makes sure to always be in the know of what is going on around him and becomes increasingly irritable when he believes secrets are hidden from him that he can't find out. On the opposite side of things he is extremely reluctant to let anyone know anything about him or things he might know. Knowledge is power to him and he loves to hold all the cards, figuratively speaking of course, in whatever endeavors he may face along the way.

For quite some time however he had his much more crueler outwards personality and
it still does leak every now and then. A good indicator of when this happens is when his eyes seemingly become much colder than the norm for him and some even say he gains an air of death around him somewhat. Despite all the problems that Morrison might have he is a very good judge of character and enjoys seeing the potential of humanity in general. He believes that one day that the entire world will learn about magic as it is something that he thinks is not a matter of how but when. He doesn't really respect many people and the few he does are the ones that catch his attention, overall Morrison doesn't really care if the world burns in the end. As long as he has fun in the end that is all that matters to him, he recognizes that he has a very distorted perspective of things but simply doesn't care anymore.

Ancestry: Half-blood

History: Born to his magical mother and muggle father Morrison had a very normal childhood he supposed. He grew up with both of his parents together and they both clearly loved each other but they payed little attention to him. He understood why, his father was a rather busy construction worker and his mother worked somewhere on the magical side of things. His mother was a rather advent potion creator when she wasn't writing the newspaper or doing other things, she was always involved in something. On his fathers side of things while being a construction worker was rather hard they usually had quite a bit of time in between projects but his father was usually the one who had to over see everything and was always helping other architects he knew with their projects. Now while his parents were missing he was by no means absolutely lonely nor resentful as the few times his family had all been together were some of his happiest moments. He even had a baby-sitter from around his neighborhood to watch him, she was a lovely teen whom he spent quite a bit of his childhood with and her name was Melanie Carter. She was the one to mainly teach him about things that school couldn't as even as a child he was quite the curious little fellow.

Things were rather standard for him and while he didn't know about his mother's magical affairs until he was around 10 his life was already on it's way towards a downward spiral. It was on his 10th birthday precisely that he learned of the magical world and something very...bad happened. The day had started off normally and was actually one of the few days in which his parents were both in the house during the day and had even got him a birthday cake. A few of the neighborhood kids came around along with his babysitter Melanie and she had gotten him a computer game for his birthday. She told him it was rather old but it was really good and looking at the title he thought it would be, "Fate/stay night" it seemed rather cool. He got a few other presents like a bike and a few clothes along with some more games, as soon as his small party was over he decided to play the game his babysitter got him first. Playing the game for a few hours and he was already hooked on it, it was really good and the idea of magic was implanted in his mind.

Suddenly though the electricity in his house shut off and he was curious as to why, luckily enough though he had just managed to get to an area to save in the game or at least he hoped that's what he had done he hadn't been paying too much attention really. A loud sound rang out from the first floor of his house and being the curious person that he was Morrison crept out of his room as silently as he could making the floor creak a bit but not too much. A loud bang sound was heard followed by a shout of "Stupefy, Sectumsempra!" His heart was pumping hard as he tried to move silently and as he made it down the steps and peeked over the banister he felt as if his heart stopped as he saw something that would forever be in his mind. The dead body of his father covered in blood gazing lifelessly towards the ceiling along with someone else who he assumed was dead and covered in cuts. His mother was crying holding his father in her lap as tears ran down her face, this scene broke him that day and he was never the same happy go lucky kid he once was. He tried to get over it but he couldn't, not without help, so his mind picked up on things that could help to cope since his mother was much too preoccupied.

It was shortly after this...incident that his mother decided to teach him about the magical world so that she wouldn't lose him as well and they had moved in with his mother's mom, his grandmother, because their home gave her bad nightmares. So they started with some basic magical techniques that he would be able to learn along with getting him a wand. There was a bit of uneasiness about his wand being 13 inches but his mother decided not to mind it, she was the parent and was supposed to have trust in her child. During these lessons he always thought about the game that had originally taught him a sort of realistic view on magic to him, and he decided that he wanted to one day combine the two arts into something of his own. Along with learning about magic he was introduced to the rest of his mother's family and his favorite would be his grandmother as she liked to give him candy every now and then, something he hadn't had for awhile.

It was during this time that he was introduced to his cousins Freya and Jack Marigold, they were twins and absolutely terrible people. They had a superiority complex and constantly picked on him even going so far to as to make him fall down stairs among other things, it ended bad for them in the end. Morrison spent a majority of time he had in the library of the estate after effectively "beating" Fate/stay night and seeing the endings to it and made use of the fount of knowledge available to him which allowed him to find some very useful toxins he could use and with the constant bullying along with the traumatic experience he was ready to put it in use. His friend Gil told him that a king should never allow those below him to stike against him so he acted in kind to this, the next day the two twins almost made a very unfortunate end as their throats swelled shut and they slowly became paralyzed. Their parents reacted quickly and were taken to St. Mungos and he was almost caught but he managed to push suspicion away from him with help from his friend Rin. Yes, he was very much mentally unstable but he didn't care it was whom he was but his friend Shirou said that his actions were not right and that he had went to far, maybe he had so what was the right thing to do? It was something that drove him for quite some time the question of "What is the right thing to do?", to most it would be a question easily answer but not for someone that was as distorted as him.

After the event his cousins were lucky enough that they had finished Hogwarts quite some time ago or they would of been targets, and from the first year Morrison decided to find some answers for himself. Besides finding out what is the right thing to do, he wanted to find out more things and his thirst for knowledge was groiwng and it didn't matter how he attained it. If he had to manipulate people he would, a majority of them were just minor characters to this world anyway, so he would become someone important and cause a revolution no matter what got in his way.
....

House: Slytherin

Curse: Every 59 minutes on the dot he will simply become intangible and go through anything that he is not already currently touching. If he is touching another person they will become intangible along with him and will be able to go through things as if they weren't solid and nothing in particular is able to touch them while in this state. The state lasts approximately between 11 and 31 minutes and is pretty much completely random as he has yet to figure out what causes the time to extend or shorten yet he does know the average time it lasts is usually 15 minutes. Even though he phases through things during this state and can't be wounded he can most definitely feel a somewhat vague feeling of whatever he goes through, for example if he was to go through a glass window he would feel as if he was rubbing up against a smooth surface as he passed or if he passed through a spell that couldn't hit him he would feel a sensation of low to severe discomfort depending on how strong the spell was. He doesn't know which spells can still hit him or not so he is reluctant to test it out in a spar.

Extra: A hobby of Morrison is tarot readings and he has a good knowledge of all the Major Arcana and enjoys doing tarot readings for others. The wand he uses is made out of yew tree wood and has a core of Dragon heartstring. Suffers from a form of multiple personality disorder, his mind has formed copies of people that helped him to cope with his traumatic experience.

Well, its been quite some time since I have read Harry Potter, but this seems pretty interesting. I'll have an SU up by tomorrow maybe!

EDIT: SU is finished, and for the most part I am please. I might go back and change some of the personality, but....eh.

Name: Ramsey Mayrick
Birthday: 13th of March
Age: 16
Gender: Male

Appearance:

Ramsey, despite being Scottish, does not possess the typical red and curly hair that is stereotypical to Scotts, but instead has light brown hair. He typically keeps his hair fairly short, as he hates to do any maintenance to it, but does keep it long enough to spike it up if he feels in the mood. Beneath his hair is a lightly freckled face usually wearing a knowing smirk or light grin, giving others the feeling that he always knows something they don't, like whatever prank he has planned for them, or simply knowing something they do not. Above the smile are two deep blue eyes, constantly moving, taking note of every detail and opportunity.

In terms of wardrobe, Ramsey wears the typical uniform of Hogwarts, darks robes and pointed hat. However when he is out of the school, he prefers comfortable, boot-cut, dark colored jeans to fit over his faded brown hiking boots. He will usually wear a plain t-shirt if it is warm, and replaces that with a light jacket or coat in the colder months, covering a long sleeve sweater. He also almost always will wear dark sports sunglasses if it is bright outside, complaining that his eyes are sensitive, although will forgo these when wearing his wizard's hat.

Personality:

One look at Ramsey, and you know that he got into Ravenclaw for the wit that is characteristic for the house. Of course, he is quite intelligent as well, although usually that intelligence is put to the task of how to sneak an enchanted frog into somebody's book bag without being noticed. With a gleam in his eye, he is always ready to spout a clever pun, or make some joke at someone's expense, often his own. Despite loving being the punchline of the group, he finds himself with few true friends. Of normal friends, he has plenty, as being a jokester will often get you. But he has learned that there are few that he can actually trust as real friends, and tends to be wary of people he knows little of.

But underneath the jesting quirky guy, lies Ramsey's more fiery side. He will more often than not come across as calm and easy going, but if there is anything he inherited from his Scottish heritage, it's his fiery temper. It takes a bit of prodding for him to get angry, but when he does he goes a bit overboard, and does things that others would call both "Stupid" and "Violent", not a very good combination. He has learned to bury his anger, leading to only occasional outbursts, but burying it down often only leads to resentment and grudges against other people. Despite burying most of the anger down, some still leaks through occasionally, usually towards those he has grudges with. It may be a seemingly lighthearted joke, or an aggressive move while playing quiditch, but he does find ways to slowly sate his anger towards others.

Ramsey has what you might call trust issues. From past experience, he has learned that more often than not, people will save their own skin before helping you, leading him to trust little to anyone else. He trusts only a few close friends, those he has known for a long time, or those who prove themselves. But even then he trusts the most important things to himself, leaving others to take the less important parts of the plan. When dealing with such important things, whether being plans for some scheme he has cooked up, or a large assignment, he usually goes off alone, preferring isolation with just him and thoughts to focus. He will often talk or mutter to himself as he thinks, giving others the impression that he is half mad, although really it just helps him think.
When it comes to friends, Ramsey has few true ones, but those he defends to the last breath, which has gotten him into trouble in the past. Intelligent he may be, but intelligence and humor will only get you so far, and a joke at the wrong time will only get you a punch in the face, as he has learned in the past.

Ancestry: Half-Blood

History: Ramsey grew up in the dreary land of Scotland, raised by only his mother, a muggle. His mother had only known his father for a short time, although it was a powerful relationship. She had met him at a circus, surrounded by other "magicians" who fancied themselves talented with their frivolous tricks. But where their magic was only tricks of the eye, his was something unexplainable. His mother, "Freya Mayrick", had been quite beautiful in her youth, and it did not take her much prodding before the young wizard had noticed her. Ramsey's mother had always told him that they loved each other very much, and that he had told her many of the wonders of the magical world for her love. She was even introduced to other witches and wizards around the area. But their relationship had been short, and soon after Ramsey had been conceived, his mother's lover left. She told him that he hadn't wanted to leave, and that he had wanted to stay and love and raise Ramsey, but he never had really believed that. But Freya had enough love for the boy to raise him on her own, paying the bills by working as a bartender.

Ramsey had been home schooled, his mother staying home during the day to help him with his homework. His mother's carefree and light hearted attitude rubbed off on him, and despite not really having any real friends in his early childhood, he became a very social and talkative youth, happily spouting jokes and puns with his mother.

Eventually, the magical side of his genetics began to show, and his mother happily encouraged it, despite not really knowing what to do or how to help. Fortunately, they lived somewhat out in the country, and his antics went unnoticed by others for the most part. When Ramsey came of age, his mother told him of Hogwarts, the school that her wizard lover had told her about, and urged her child to go and let his powers grow. Leaving his mother had been difficult, as she had been the only friend and family that he really had, but he quickly made new friends at the school in the first few years, and visited his mother as often as he could.

While at Hogwarts, he also took up quidditch, and is able to play all positions decently if needed, but found himself both best and happiest when playing a bludger, having a sort of a sick satisfaction of hitting other people with heavy objects. Ramsey holds a deep competitive respect for Richard Drakenguard, the top chaser for the Hufflepuff team, who Ravenclaw lost to in his fifth year for the inner-house cup. Ramsey vows that one day he will hit the Hufflepuff boy so hard, he will fly through his own team's goalpost.

House: Ravenclaw

Curse:

Every few hours or so, Ramsey will find himself holding one of his belongings, which seems to be completely random. Occasionally he might find himself grasping his broomstick while trying to brush his teeth in the morning, sometimes he might discover that he took a bite out of one of his socks instead of the fork of pancakes that had occupied his hand only a moment before. Once he found himself throwing a ball to a friend in the yard, only to throw his pocket knife blade out instead of the ball.

The object will always be found in the right hand, and any object that was in his right hand would change to his left. Also, the object will rarely be anything particularly large, usually only something small and able to be held in one hand.

Extra:

Ramsey's wand is 12 inches long and made of ebony with a phoenix feather core.

Lovely SUs and curses! Many half-bloods, haha, maybe that can tie in well with the background plot :) I will have a closer look at the SUs as soon as I have time.

Amazing SU and horrifying character, haha. The curse works perfectly fine. You are accepted into the sixth year of Hogwarts with Slytherin!

DreamOrDestruction and STARDUST, I love your curses! Very creatively done. Yet Another Logical Nerd, your curse with turning into a wolf-like creature is ok but don't overdo it :3 And I think you need to rewrite a bit because some parts were unclear, like when does the dreaming and rage happen?

For anyone who posted a half-finished one, let me know when your SUs are done, ok?

This sounds interesting.

Name: Alexander "Alex" Flint
Birthday: 30th of August
Age: 16
Gender: Male

Appearance:
Spoiler:

Alex is a normal height for his age (5'8") and is of a decent build. He always sports a bored look.

Personality: Alex' personality definitely strikes as being totally uncaring about most of the things around him. He will be totally indifferent to whatever you may going through if you aren't close to him. He is a totally lazy individual with a strong knack for staying alone and not being disturbed by other people thus resulting in him hanging by himself or wandering the castle with no special goals in mind. This behavior has dubbed him as weird and therefore he hasn't attracted many friends, a fact that doesn't bother him one bit.

On the rare occurrence that he would be in a group of friends, you can easily remark that Alex is not much of a speaker, preferring to let others talk and only intervening when it is necessary.

Ancestry: Pure-blood

History: Alex comes from a lineage of pure-blood family. Both of his parents are wizards coming from the Durmstrang Institute. Actually most of the Flint achieved their studies at Durmstrang, for an easier mastering of the Dark Arts. During the time Voldemort was still alive, some of the Flint were even enrolled as Death Eaters under his reign. However, after his death, those who didn't fall decided it would be best to lay low and avoid mixing themselves too much with the Dark Arts. Thus, the latest generation of Flints all went to Hogwarts and that included Alex of course.

House: Slytherin.

Curse: Whenever someone directly touches his skin, Alex starts blushing furiously. Even if it's just a simple touch, this will make effects on him.

Extra: Alex' wand is 9 inches long, made of eucalyptus wood and a basilisk core.

There might be a lot of Half-Bloods, yeah, but there's also just as many Slytherins. I'm quite surprised really, since people usually go for Gryffindor, from my own experiences of an HP Rp.

Edit: It's pretty much done now.

Name: Sylvain Dupuy
Birthday: Nov 11
Age: 17
Gender: Male

Appearance: Syl isn't what you'd call good looking, but neither is he what you would call ugly. Rather, his appearance is quite average except for a few notable features. He stands at 5'9 with a broad-shouldered, yet slender frame allowing him to weigh no more than 120 pounds. His legs are a little shorter than most people his height, a longer torso compensating for this.

Personality: The most notable feature of Sylvain would have to be his remarkable intelligence. It plays quite contrast to his parents, who were rather lack luster wizards themselves. Having been ridiculed for this in his first year, he has done all he can to distance himself from their reputation. That being said, he is extremely sensitive when it comes to insulting his intelligence--and he will hold quite the grudge against anyone who does, often going to extreme lengths to prove otherwise or to punish them for such misgivings.

In this same regard, he views everyone else with a certain disdain, even those with authority over him. As he views people as mere pawns to complete his goals, he has almost no close relationships with other people, opting instead to spend his free time honing his magical talent. Whether it is strengthening his ability to use spells he already knows, learning new spells, or conducting other magical experiments, he is almost ALWAYS doing something. Some of his experiments become so important to him that he opts to continue working on them as opposed to attending class, something he considers a waste of his time. He would much rather read from a book and try things out on his own terms than sit in a chair and listen to lectures.

While on the outside Sylvain addresses everyone with a degree of courtesy, he truly looks upon them with scorn. He has little desire to make small talk, and this is noticed quite easily by his lack of social skills. Usually he gives a trite answer with a semi-polite nod and smile and then returns to what he was doing. In his mind, it's not that he is against forming such bonds with people, it's merely that no one is worthy to bask in his grandeur. Whether it is true or not, he considers himself to be the greatest wizard of his time, and has made some plans to prove this. He is not above hurting others or betraying their trust to achieve his goals, but he does so tactfully. If you burn too many bridges you'll find yourself stuck.

While, for the most part, Syl operates under the guise of someone well composed and calculated, he actually gets angered quite easily. And his rage can, at times, lead him to make mistakes. He has little tolerance for foolishness, should it have a negative impact on him. He takes little note of what other people do, it really doesn't matter to him. But if say, someone gets in his way of accomplishing something, he will make dire consequences arise for them. Even if it would be simpler for him to let it go. He is bitter and brooding, and has promised himself that by the end of his 7th year, he will have shown everyone just exactly what he is capable of.

Ancestry: Pure-Blood
History: Sylvain was born to two wizards, Hufflepuffs to be exact. They weren't renowned or intelligent wizards by any right--being quite the opposites, actually. So most would assume that Sylvain would share their lack of magical prowess, but they are wrong. Even his parents believed that he would be a Hufflepuff by nature, so it came as a surprise that the Sorting Hat placed him in Ravenclaw almost instantly. The magical being was quick to notice potential that others did not.

In his first year, Syl struggled immensely with ideals of self-worth, mostly due to the jeering of other students and even a few teachers. It took him but a few short months to prove them all wrong, and from that day, no one questioned his keen mental prowess. He learned from this, however, something even more powerful than his natural ability to comprehend sophisticated matters--an overwhelming desire to learn everything possible, to master every spell he could. This led to him putting a huge amount of effort into learning and experimenting, to the point where he would go into seclusion and talk to no one for weeks at a time, his devious mind tinkering away at his various projects.

As the years passed, they noticed him to be a very exceptional in nearly all regards. His main problem being that he preferred to be alone, a bit of a social misanthrope. When approached in person, he was found to be very awkward and quiet. Usually finding the quickest way to end the conversation or otherwise get back to focusing on what he was originally doing. And he was always doing something. His parents were proud of his achievements, but he grew distant from them in an attempt to bury all ties to their lackluster reputation.

During his 6th year, he grew especially distant as he began to study Legilimency and its counterpart, Occlumency. In his thirst for knowledge, he began to ask questions that were met with out right denial or answers he simply couldn't accept. He wanted the ability to discern the truth from these people he questioned, so as to be able to attain a greater level of knowledge. As he learned these to a degree, his interest had shifted towards darker magics, to which he is beginning to study in his seventh year.

House: Ravenclaw

Curse: Sylvain's curse manged to get him possessed by a ghost. While he controls himself most of the time, it can be a taxing effort, and, at times, the ghost will manage to assume control. He is still able to see and hear everything going on, but he can't control his actions. He can mentally communicate to the ghost, which mostly pesters and insults him.

Aaaalright, and here's my SU done! Let me know what you think :3

Oh, and for everyone but madame Doctor, seeing as Richard is as close to a celebrity you get at Hogwarts, I figured it'd be a nice to throw in a subject to talk about, rumor-mongering, trying to get in contact with him for a chat or an autograph or something like that. Let me know if any of you are up for any such hijinks! ^w^

Name: Richard Drakengard

Birthday: 16th of February

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Appearance: Richard is a boy who takes his appearance fairly seriously. His hair is short and black, purposefully and even slightly constructed tips poking out here and there, with the front fringe pushed ever so slightly upwards, as if he had used gel to keep it in place. His face is unscarred, and it's clear that he's shaping up to become a pretty handsome young man, with pretty defined features, such as his chin, his nose and his deep, brown eyes.

During school, he wears the typical uniform expected of a student; A black robe which he keeps open at the front, a shirt, a cotton vest, a tie in the colour of his house and so on. In his spare time, he likes to wear a T-shirt, usually with the logo of a Quidditch team or something more muggle-based like a band or the like. On top of that, he wears a black vest with buttons which he keeps open, rather than buttoning it up, which would make him look way too formal, along with a regular pair of jeans.

Occasionally, you will see him wearing a pair of rectangular glasses, but usually only during class. This is due to the fact that he's far-sighted, and needs glasses to be able to read, easily able to see things from a distance without his glasses.

Reference picture:
Spoiler:

Personality: Richard, preferring to be called Drake, is a fun-loving, energetic guy, who seems, at least at a distance, to be everybody's friend and the usual center of attention when it comes to either having a party, playing or talking about Quidditch. When it comes to these subjects, he's very out-spoken and bright-smiling, seeming like nothing in the world could bring him down.

However, during classes, or if nothing in particular is going on, he seems somewhat mellow, quiet and just plain-old friendly. He'll still have the pang of energy or the like, every so often, especially if adventure or something fun is on the horizon. He generally keeps his calm and doesn't let his emotions run off with him, and despite being a Quidditch prodigy, he seems to be taking his studies seriously as well. Most of them, at least.

He doesn't always take classes seriously, and sometimes, he can seem a little vain, or attention-wanting, which isn't entirely untrue. He's also known to be somewhat stubborn when it comes to admitting he isn't good at something he really wants to be good at, and prefers to work on it on his own, rather than getting help from someone else.

Ancestry: Pure-blood.

History: The history of the Drakengard family is quite long and reaches pretty far back in time. The family is said to have come from a Scandinavian country, possibly Finland or Norway, but in the past few generations have seemingly migrated to England for one reason or another. Richard's father and mother, Emily and Johnathan were both well-respected in the wizarding world, mostly his mother, however, for her work in the field of creating new charms, specifically to make everyday life easier while trying to bridge the gap between technology and magic, and his father somewhat, for his work with the ministry of magic concerning magical beings and beasts' well-being.

Sadly, though, not long after Emily became pregnant, Johnathan was killed during a trip to Australia, where a dragon had managed to free itself from captivity, and Johnathan was helping the other wizards on the scene with trying to contain it.

After Richard was born, his mother found everyday life a bit too empty without Johnathan by her side, and eventually, she managed to fall in love again, this time, with a muggle, named Alexander. They lived happily for several years, with him completely unknowing of her previous work in the magical world, which she had put aside for him.

But as Richard grew older and strange things started happening around them, Emily, with a heavy heart, decided that she had to move away from Alexander, to somewhere she could raise Richard and teach him what he needed to know in preparation for his eventual trip to Hogwarts. She managed to find herself a house outside of a city in south-eastern England, not too far from where Alexander lived, meaning that Richard took turns living with his mother, and his step-father.

This gave Richard a unique perspective on life, as he was able to live and feel both the magical and mundane world, while at the same time keeping the magical world a secret for his step-father. With his mother now living on her own, she was able to pick up her studies again and invented a charm that allows a modern-day vacuum cleaner to clean on its own, rather than using an (According to her) outdated old broom.

Richard's first couple of years in Hogwarts weren't anything to speak of. A lot of the other kids noticed him and talked about him, due to his previously semi-famous name, several rumors going around about him, but nothing directly harmful or all that interesting happened. He was a simple student, who did decently in classes.

That is, until in the end of third year and the entirety of his fourth year. He joined Hufflepuff's Quidditch team, and it was soon extremely evident that he was a natural on a broom. He quickly found the Chaser to be his favourite position, and found an extreme joy in playing the game. Within the end of the third year, the school's Quidditch fans were buzzing about him.

The fourth year got kicked off with a blast, as he had seemingly been training at home, further honing his skills. In his fourth year, he managed to score more points for his team than –any- other Chaser had managed to that year, and his reputation as 'The best Quidditch player in years' quickly spread. He's even managed to win a match or two for his team, despite the other team catching the Snitch, and in his fourth year, Hufflepuff actually won the Inter-House Quidditch Cup.

House: Hufflepuff

Curse: If Richard's skin comes into contact with anyone else's skin, they feel a burning sensation, as if they had stuck their hand on a hot plate turned to the max, and will even develop burn wounds if exposed to his touch for more than a few seconds. This only seems to work with skin, as other living things such as trees, plants and inanimate objects are completely untouched by the effect.

Extra:
-Richard's wand is 12 inches long, made out of cherrywood and has a core made out of dragon heartstring.

-Richard absolutely loves sweets and will do everything in his might to try out a new one. He claims to have tasted every single sweet available.

-Richard is infamously bad at Potions and Care of Magical Creatures.

Completed SU that will be rejected! Yay!

Name: William McConnahaugh
Birthday: March 15
Age: 15
Gender: Male

Appearance:
Spoiler:

William, often called Will by his closest friends, is a real scotsman as his father would say. He is fairly tall and decently built, though he is not exactly cut, developing more in bulk rather than definition. Nevertheless, he is confident in his physical capabilities, and is prone to showing off from time to time. William inherited his shaggy brown hair and dull blue eyes from his father, but his youthful and friendly features from his mother. They are few impurities on his pale skin, yet it only exaggerates the shadows under his eyes. You may be wondering he has them? Well, let's just say being a Muggle for the majority of your life makes being at a magical high school somewhat difficult from time to time.

During school, William tends to wear the school uniform with few qualms. Though occasionally, he tests the limits of the dress code by not wearing his robe correctly. Of course, sometimes this isn't intentional and has cost the house a couple points. In his more casual attire, William wears what any Muggle would wear: jeans, t-shirts, and the occasional dress shirt or sweatshirt. William's wardrobe can be random, as it really depends on how conscious or how much he decides to care about his appearance.

Personality: On the outside, William doesn't seem to be anything special, which is probably he was sorted into Hufflepuff rather than any of the other houses (the Sorting Hat had a lot of trouble with the boy). In fact, some would say he seems apathetic, lazy, and on occasion curt. This would only be half true, as William is without a doubt lazy (and his apathy on some subjects does give him the occasional rude moment) on many accounts, ignoring his physical appearance for example and hardly caring about anything outside of the core classes that he feels are entertaining.

The reality is that William, once you cut through some of the facade, is a character that reluctantly typifies what makes a Hufflepuff, a Hufflepuff. He believes in fairness above all, living by the mantra of "Treat others as you wish to be treated." Therefore, he is more than willing to be friendly, charming and helpful, but doesn't feel any obligation to those who treat others harshly, especially if they do so for no reason. William, however, is willing to give others more than enough chances to be friendly as he understands that some people make bad first impressions or have their moments. It comes with the fact that William is generally speaking an optimist, trying his best to see the bright side of any situation. That being said, he tends to be a pessimist when it comes to women, as William despite his charms has had bad luck with girls. It has gotten to the point where is almost nervous around them as he fears they will tease him or doing something worse. He needs backup when talking to them.

William is exceedingly humble, despite being fairly talented in several subjects. It should be noted that these subjects rely more on action or "street smarts" rather than academic prowess, as he lacks the ability to be studious or care for more than a few moments about anything school related. Undoubtedly, this is further built on his lack of patience and the fact he is easily bored. William always need to do something, otherwise he'll get lazy and go back to be cold to others. Get him moving and he'll be nicer than anyone. Get him fend up with "boring stuff" and you'll get stomped.

Ancestry: Muggleborn

History: Born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, William is a member of a close knit, but also large family that claims to be descendants of one the oldest (and mightiest according to William's nationalist father) clans in all of Scotland. The middle child of his family with an athlete of an older brother and a scholar of a younger sister, William did well to stand out, being a nice fusion of the two, holding some potential in each. He was never as gifted as either, but his mother assured him that his natural affinity for something will emerge sooner rather than later. For a while, he was sure that he inherited his father's legendary charm as people seemed to like him more than his siblings, but time showed that he was never that charming and his older brother's muscles captured the attention of most people. William was left in the middle, doing his best to master something.

Growing up even as a youth, William was interested in writing or creating things than attending school. Real life bored him greatly. When he wasn't doodling on papers or mocking up grandiose imaginative worlds (honing the skill as best he could), William did what any child in a large family did: play with siblings, meet aunts and uncles and taunt little cousins. He learned the value of family and how to be a great person from his large family and luckily enough middle child syndrome never actually kicked in. He felt loved and appreciated and admits that he owes a lot to them.

So much so that when some old wizard in a stereotypical hat came to his door, he earnestly believed that it was nothing more than a joke planned by his parents because they got hold of his doodles and stories from his journal. However, it was the exact opposite. It was a real visit from a representative from Hogwarts, stating that William had magical blood and it was the responsible thing to do to allow him to develop and control the abilities as a wizard. It was in that moment that William believed that magic was to be his natural skill. With some hesitation, his parents permitted William to attend especially after William's father claimed that magic must of been the reason that the clan was so great in ancient times.

William experienced a rough transition from the "Muggle" world and the "Magical" world. When school supplies suddenly translated from pens to quills, dogs to owls, bicycles to brooms, etc., the boy was unsure of how to approach everything. However, he found himself coming around once he remembered his stories and imagination. In due time, he adapted quite well. He was sorted into Hufflepuff in his first year and did fairly well all things considered. Still excited about the whole idea of a new school, William was notable for actually seeking out advising and tutoring to ensure he did not fail any classes, excelling brilliantly in Flying and Defense Against the Dark Arts.

He performed admirably throughout his second year, picking up Care for Magical Creatures (figuring he could take care of a dog fine how hard could other creatures be) and Divination, because he thought it would be divine magic and ended up nearly failing the course out of boredom. He continued to fly in his free time, especially after getting a top notch broom from his parents for his birthday, applauding his parents for doing their research. It was this year that William's enthusiasm shifted and he focused on practicality in magic, honing his skills in things like Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts while his more academic pursuits suffered.

In this third year, he was invited to join the Quidditch team as a Beater, mostly due to a massive growth spurt over the summer and his affinity for flying. He originally tried out for Chaser and Keeper, but found that being a Beater took advantage of his physical prowess more than any other position. He was a natural in the position, becoming one of the more feared ones in the House Cup due to his high intense play. However, as his fondness for Quidditich and all the fun subjects shined through, some of his grades fell. He had many meetings following this and became to find a new hobby: studying at night.

Once he picked up the pace, the third and fourth years of his career went well with no problems, continuing to flourish as a Beater and as a student, passing all his courses with flying colors. Pun intended.

House: Hufflepuff

Curse: William's curse has manifested in his left eye and we will affectionally call it "The Eye of Seduction." The Eye of Seduction causes all those who make eye contact (with his left one) for more than a few moments to fall in "love" with William. The effect is temporary and it's time of effect is directly proportional to how long they locked eye contact with him. For example, a few seconds may last for several minutes. A minute or two, an hour. Several minutes, a day. The depth of this love varies in terms of intensity, but those who may have some attraction to the gentleman will naturally have much more intense reactions while others may simply fawn for his attention. The curse only seems to affect those who would be naturally attracted to William (straight/bisexual women and bisexual/gay men).

Extra:
-> William wanted to be sorted into Gryffindor, because their mascot is a lion.
-> William's wand is 10 inches and is made from mahogany with a unicorn hair core.
-> William's best subjects are Care for Magical Creatures and Defense Against the Dark Arts. However, he's terrible at Potions and cares little for History of Magic.
-> William is an avid storyteller, so one can imagine attending Hogwarts has helped write more genuine fantasy tales.

I've been out of touch with HP for a while, but I used to be really into the world. I was even in a small RP before, about 10 years ago. But I love magic, so let's play!

Name: Aya Joanie Spina Kingsfoil
Birthday: September 28
Age: 15
Gender: Female

Appearance:
2ebenlv.jpg

Short and sweet, Aya looks younger than she is, standing 5' 1" and barely reaching 90 lbs. She insists on keeping herself well-groomed, believing that it makes her look more distinguished. Her dark hair reaches to mid-back, and is naturally straight. There is a lighter stripe of hair in her bangs, which is not dyed, instead being an odd quirk that somewhat annoys her. But she is too fond of her bangs to cut them, and insists on leaving her hair undyed, out of pride. Her large blue eyes and small nose make her look young and cute, but her large ears embarrass her, to the point that she hides them under her hair. When not wearing her uniform robes and hat, she dresses almost formally, with a white long-sleeved shirt, black slacks and shoes, and a sky blue cargo vest. She adores pockets, and her shirt and vest both have pockets, with deeper pockets on her pants.

Personality: Aya is energetic and easily excited, but sometimes a little ditzy. She can sometimes point out the exceptionally obvious, or be so engrossed in one aspect of an activity that she develops tunnel vision. She is intrigued by new people and new things, and enjoys touching and tinkering with them. She is often in a happy mood, and likes to talk to people, but avoids long conversations, unless she is doing most of the talking. She isn't great with people skills, since she doesn't really understand social and emotional interactions, but she tries. She is easily saddened if people are mad at her or if she kills a good mood. She loves books and reading, and will often be reading them or organizing them, something which has gotten her thrown out of libraries before.

Despite her love of reading, she is only an average student, since she learns something, uses it once, then moves on, not really retaining or applying new skills. She learns better by reading than by doing, so she is precise and formulaic, doing things by-the-book rather than making them her own. Although she has a talent for the less overt magical, such as Potions and Herbology, as well as similar areas like cooking and gardening. She is happy and carefree while performing these tasks, as she finds a Zen-like peace in them.

Ancestry: Muggleborn

History: Both of her parents Muggles, Aya was born in Chicago. Her mother, unfortunately, didn't survive giving birth. Aya was raised by her father, who was a stage magician. His job required that he move around a lot, so Aya never stayed in one place for very long. But her father did his best to raise her and care for her, and she had a decent childhood. Her father even tried to teach her som magic, although she was always more interested in the local cuisine. Her favorite part of traveling was being able to taste the various flavors from around the country.

Sadly, tragedy struck again when she was eight. Her father suffered a fatal heart attack, leaving Aya an orphan. She was sent to live with her only remaining relative, her maternal grandfather (her mother's father). Ebenezer MacGilivray lived near Loch Lomond, in Scotland. He was also a retired alchemist, who had once worked for the Ministry of Magic. Though he had been disappointed that his daughter showed no signs of arcane talent, he was happy she had been able to find a family, and that he had a granddaughter, even if he never saw her. So when Aya moved in with him, he was overjoyed to have some small part of his daughter in his life. He was even more surprised and happy when Aya started showing signs of magic, right around her tenth birthday.

She was surprisingly accepting of the hidden world of the magical community, perhaps because she spent her whole life traveling with a stage magician for a father. Although Ebenezer was quick to explain the difference, and that she would be using real magic. She took offense at the implication that her father's magic wasn't real, and carried a bit of a grudge against the other children. But once she actually arrived at Hogwarts, her attitude softened. She was fascinated by the magical school, even if she wasn't an exceptional student. Her knowledge of stage magic was useful to her, giving her an unconventional viewpoint on learning. She was more theatrical, more focused on flair and style. Her spells had more flash than function, but she had a real talent for Potions.

Aya faced prejudice, both as a Muggleborn and as the daughter of a "fake" magician. But she also had to deal with high expectations as the descendant of a famed alchemist. Even though she loved potion making, she wanted to do it because it was fun, not because she wanted to carry on a legacy. In fact, she tried her best to carry out both legacies: her grandfather's talent for Potions, and her father's stage magic, augmented with some actual sorcery. Over the years, she started getting rather good at illusion magic and Charms, while foregoing Transformation and Defense Against the Dark Arts. She didn't make many friends, due to both the prejudice she faced and her constant studying. She also didn't get into Quidditch, beyond appearing at some of the games. It was fun to watch, but she didn't have the athletic ability to compete. Oh sure, she was small and fast, and her reflexes and skill at sleight of hand would've made her a good Seeker, but after her first try-out (a Bludger hit her in the face and shattered her nose), she swore off flying altogether.

House: Ravenclaw

Curse: Aya's curse manifests as an apparent allergy to magic. Casting a spell or having one cast on her causes her to sneeze, and the effect of the spell is reversed, when applicable. For example, levitation spells instead increase the object's weight and density, making it super heavy. Hexes and curses instead provide a beneficial effect. Offensive spells (such as Sectumsempra or Crucio), warding spells (like Protego or a Patronus), or any spell that cannot be reversed instead simply misfires, exploding in a ball of light that leaves her singed and covered in soot. Luckily, the curse only triggers when she casts or is targeted by a spell, or she could never survive in a magic-rich environment like Hogwarts. The ambient magic only triggers mild reactions, and then only rarely.

Extra:

~Her wand is a six inch length of mahogany with a unicorn hair core.
~She has a pet barn owl named Copperfield.
~She knows some stage magic, including card tricks, escape artistry (she can escape from ropes, but handcuffs still confuse her), and even how to make fireworks and smoke capsules.
~She can cook, but the house elfs won't let her in the kitchen after Potions class anymore.
