  • Bittersweet Snapshots of Life
Um okay. Hmmm. Poetry. Let's dabble. I'll fix this up to look pretty at a future date. But for now this will do.

I found poetry to be a beautiful medium, and at times found myself contemplating and reminiscing on the days I used to pour my heart out into poetry to better cope with the cold world outside.

Welp. Let's get to coping. Onward.

  • Thanks for that! I appreciate it (: Hopefully I succeed in my goal to write a poem a day, or at least temporarily until my creativity runs dry. I can never predict when my next burst of inspiration is, so I just take advantage and jot down. Maybe in a distant future I'll look back and dust them off and redo them to be better. This will do though.

There's a bounce in their step
Like a soft breeze in a summer's eve
    Caressing and vanishing

    Unable to be held
    Unable to be tracked
Oh, kind siren of the wind
    When will you come again?
    Remind them of life's gentleness
That there is peace amidst the heat of chaos

Without you a day is too hot
    They crave your sweet nothings
    Your bittersweet embrace
    But you never linger long

Oh, cruel mistress of the sky
    Why must you bless them
Only to leave them yearning for more
Do you not see the desperation in their eyes?

Why would you give them a glimpse of hope
Only to leave them in the state you found them
Don't leave them to their devices

They don't know how to rise above
They don't know how to follow the ever changing wind
    They drown in their misery
And now they drown in your memory

Oh, kind siren of the wind
Why did you leave them to die

Nice! I really liked the rhythm in this one!

Today it was a red rose
Morning dew had speckled its unusual brightness
    Was it always there?
The sunlight now feels more welcoming
    Everything smells ever so sweeter
They linger without the sour tinge
Did it always seem this way?

The world now seems so vivid
    Glowing
    Brilliant
    Radiant
When was the last time I've felt so alive?

His picturesque speech danced before an unremarkable backdrop
Now it blends in tandem with mine
It's an attractive array of rhymes and laughter
    Is this a dream?
He seeped into my bleak future
It's now coated in a kaleidoscope of vibrant, pastel hues
Wishful thinking no longer feels so out of reach
Do I want to stumble further in?

Like a lovesick child I break the chains around my heart
I let him relish in this garden of glee
Where rhapsodies of praise await his arrival
Let's perch beneath the weeping willows
Swim in my crystal pools free of judgement
Do you want me to do more?

    Warmth
    Devotion
    Love
    Do you want more?
    Can I do more?
    Should I do more?

    Endless reverie
    A reality now my fantasy
    Joy at every corner
    When will this end?
    Should it end?
Do I want it to end?

    I'm blinded by your splendor
A fool clinging to a piece of paradise
Will you ever let me go?
    Will you ever show regret?
I don't want it to end

Today I saw that red rose
Its beauty stolen by the wheels of time
Its withered form on the verge of collapsing
I don't want it to end

    I won't let it end.

  • Yo, so I was just kidding. Maybe I may have jumped the gun saying I would make stuff every day hahaha… yeah okay, I should've seen it coming.

Anyway I made some more stuff to kill time.

    - A Cute Frog

    There exists a pond
    A weary frog tumbles down
    It creates ripples

    - Who's That?

    They stir in their sleep
    A shadow bends over them
    It fades come daybreak

    - A Sad Day

    Rain cups my worn face
As it hides the tears I shed
    The city is grim

  • Hopefully you're having a nice day. Thanks for stopping by.

    —— —— —— —— —— ——

I don't wish to be unraveled
I already took off my rose-colored glasses
I'll remain entangled in the past
But like a thread you wove into every fiber of my being
Forcing a needless ache to follow my every breath

    No, I did nothing wrong
I had damned my once active river of thoughts
Encased my heart behind walls of stone
But your silver tongue reached my tired, weary mind
Your words injected life into an otherwise cold marionette

I am a broken soul in disarray
Healing and reeling from past misfortunes
We wander in search of meaning
But you're convinced I'm your answer

I refuse to sully your pristine naivety
I will push you away despite your gentle calls
Against the tide you will go

You are an innocent soul encased in a gorgeous canvas
My hands will never dirty its pastel colors
They will never mix with my own

I throw away the keys to your cage, my little dove
We will not escape into the fray
You will not leap the pearly gates

With me you'll forever stay a bittersweet memory
I won't throw caution into the wind

    Stay a little longer
    Wait a little longer
    And don't give up

I like this one a lot. It is inspiring. I notice that you tend to trade rhymes for more emphasis on metaphors. In addition to that, your work seems to have a consistent rhythm as well. Every line matches up perfectly. Good job!

  • Soooo hey. How's it hanging?

    —————

In a world that dislikes grey
    It is people like you
    In your naivety and purity
Who welcome the truth behind humanity's complexities

You tether me to the last shred of humanity I still wield
And bring out from within me the closest there is to normalcy

You invoke in me these feelings
Emotions I have long dreaded to experience
    They now weigh me down
Like an anchor from which a rope tied itself around my heart

    And for a brief moment
    Just the briefest of seconds
I felt what I never believed I ever would

    Remorse.

    —————

    Shadows from within the darkness
Watch as I rise from beneath the sea of doubt
I've untied the burdens from around my shoulders
Slipped away from the grasp of uncertainty

    Watch me gasp for air
As I gaze back upon the sky that once swallowed me whole
I will unfurl my heavy wings
And allow the world to bear witness to my tribulations
Let them scorn what they can't understand

Let them drown in their insecurities
And I will flourish in mine

  • Was driving during one of these nights and was like, hey it's pretty outside.

    — — — —

An amethyst sky governs the sky before you
Its sea of stars entice many into a cocoon of dreams
Reflected by the waves of passing cars around you
Like a kaleidoscope of shimmering, broken patterns

Blankets of bittersweet cold snow line the highway
Having been given permission to remain by a weary sun
Winds bring with it days for longing and songs
As it kicks up snow to then freckle heated windshields

Remnants of brief rivers speckled the shimmering windows
Shielding you from the cold winter bite residing outside
As the silence that comes with the night begins to settle
Repeatedly shattered by your lonely, woeful thoughts
