    It is a story long told in Cielore...long ago, Cielore was oppressed by an evil wizard, who had a dragon familiar to hold the people under his iron fist. Heartbroken by the misery and despair she saw across the land, the Diamond Princess Diancie searched across the land for a hero that could defeat the wizard and his dragon, and lead the land into a new age of peace and plenty. She found the hero in a small village, and granted him a magical sword that would protect him from the wizard's evil magic. After a very long journey, he confronted the wizard and his dragon not far from the royal capital of Illumis, and defeated both wizard and dragon with his magical blade, and Diancie's sacred diamonds, which he had gathered on his journey.

    Many years have passed since then, and Cielore is in a new age of peace. While the tale of the hero, the wizard, and the dragon is now just a bedtime story, or a minstrel's tale, there is one reminder of the hero's journey that we undertake today--the Gathering of the Diamonds. Once a year, many different caravans follow the hero's long journey, stopping to gather diamonds where they can--either hard won from ruins, as thanks for a deed of valor, or for any reason in between. While many set out to gather the sacred diamonds that appear in the land each year, only a rare few make it all the way to Illumis. Those that do make it there are welcomed as heroes, and receive medallions of valor from Her Majesty Queen Diantha.

    No one knows for sure how millions of colorful diamonds suddenly appear in the land each year in the spring, but it is agreed that when they do appear, it is time for the caravans to embark on the Gathering of Diamonds. Many see it as a coming of age journey, so every person in the land is encouraged to make the journey at least once in their lives.

    It is not just those of us that live in Cielore that make the journey--many come from far and wide to learn about the Gathering of the Diamonds, see all that our home has to offer, and follow the hero's route in their own way--either through a caravan of their own, riding with a caravan, a single Ponyta or Rapidash, or on foot.

    This year marks my turn to follow the hero's long road to Illumis in a caravan--but I get to do this alongside some of my best friends.

    What follows is our journey along the hero's road for ourselves. Little did we know, we would encounter and defeat an evil wizard of our own along the way, and arrive in Illumis as heroes...

    Sign up here with the following info:

    Character's name (try to have it be French or at least French sounding in origin, since Cielore is a fantasy Kalos)
    Character's origin (if your character is not originally from Cielore, where are they from?)
    Character's age (anywhere from age 13-16 will do)
    Character's physical appearance (what does your character basically look like?)
    Character's backstory/known history (what is your character like, and what spurred them to join Serena's caravan?)
    Character's class (any standard fantasy RPG class will do)
    Character's current inventory (what your character is currently carrying--money wise, Serena's father Lucien has given you a thousand gold pieces for expenses and supplies. You can earn more on the long journey, or find more in the wild)
    Character's Pokémon, if any (you can have up to three non-Legendary Pokémon of any of the known Pokémon.)

    Character Name: Naiade (Nadi for short!)

    Origin: A small fishing village within Cielore.

    Age: 15

    Appearance: Somewhat small for her age, Nadi is an appropriately bubbly girl. Her pale skin is dotted with small scrapes and dried from salty sea air, as is her pale-blonde hair that looks almost white in most light. To accommodate living near the seas, and especially for the upcoming journey in which long travel and combat may be involved, she often ties much of her hair into two long braids and conical buns, though her bangs often find their way out from the more neatly tied hair, flowing into tufts and curls that, though they may seem a deliberate fashion choice on first glance, more often than not blow into her face or end up tangled or curled in a messy fashion.

    For clothing, she wears a bandeau-style top that wraps around her torso, often covered by a loose-fitting sweater with large sleeves. She most often wears boyish, knee-lengths shorts with tall socks or leggings beneath, and a pair of water-worn leather boots, stained with sea salt. Besides the boots, which have seen better days, her clothing is serviceable though not extravagant, giving the vibe of one aiming to emulate a more complex style using limited resources and regional textiles, befitting a middle-class fisherman's child.

    (See the Picrew image below for an idea of the look, though ignore the somewhat Japanese/HIsuian fashion that the generator was limited to! I used this maker.)

    Backstory: Growing up in a small fishing village, Nadi yearned for a greater adventure and often longed to join a party on the yearly Gathering of the Diamonds. Her parents, however, were not too keen on the idea - her father hoping to have her take up the family's fishing village, and her mother being - as Nadi often likes to point out - "As protective as a mama Kanghaskan... She never wants me to leave her pouch. Ever."

    But, Nadi's parents were nothing if not loving and, like many parents, only wanted the best for her.

    Wanting to make her dreams come true, her father overheard a fellow sailor (a friend of a friend, of a family member, of a friend... etc.) excitedly talking about how a distant friend or relative's child, a certain Serena, was planning to join the Gathering this year. After a few months of pulling strings and written correspondence, he surprised Nadi by informing her she was invited to join the party... And Nadi was beyond ecstatic.

    In preparation, her parents did what they could to make sure their daughter would be safe and well taken care of:

    First off, her father's long correspondence made them aware that Serena and her family were reputable enough to send their daughter on an adventure with her.

    Secondly, her mother began training her in some family magic - that of elemental magic - and got her started on the basics of imbuing her sword with elemental magics.

    Third, her father formally entrusted the Golisopod he had trained as a family pet and fishing assistant - Bouclier (shield in French), or Bou for short - to Nadi.

    Fourth, she begged to bring along her own compansions - Reqy the Gible and Nymph the Mantyke. (The former was caught more recently, the latter the first Pokemon her parents gave to her when she was much younger.)

    And so, this is how Nadi joins the party - Bright-eyed and eager, yet certainly a novice. Perhaps she will prove to her family once and for all that she is worthy of the adventuring lifestyle. Or, perhaps more likely, she will realize just how in over her head she is...

    Class: Spellsword

    Inventory:

    • A light, hand-me-down sword - comfortable enough for her to wield despite her size and strength, but somewhat lacking in maintenance... In need of sharpening and sporting a few noticeable places where the metal has chipped or been dented.
    • A rucksack made of aged leather, containing some basic rations - Dried and salted fish, some nuts, some dried seaweed, and a waterskin.
    • A small, stuffed-Quaxly - Monsieur Feathers. He's a bit dirty and worn down, clearly a childhood toy. She keeps him a secret.
    • A small sleeping mat and blanket combo - rolled up on top of the rucksack.
    • A bracelet of polished stones - to use as magical foci; seem colored to align with the elements.
    • The rest of the funds given to her for the trip are still saved in a small pouch tucked inside her bag.

    Character's name: Pallioux

    Character's origin Cielore

    Character's age 15

    Character's physical appearance They are tall and rather thin, with blonde hair and piercing blue eyes.

    Character's backstory/known history They love the idea of getting to meet new and wonderful Pokemon. They got an Eevee as their first pokemon, and it grew up to be a Leafeon. Pallioux and Leafeon, who he nicknamed 'Olive', are best friends and both trust each other with their lives. Pallioux received the Umbreon as a gift from a mysterious man who was on his deathbed, and while he and his Umbreon aren't on the best of terms, they know each other well enough. They also have a Magikarp, which he intends to evolve into a Gyarados. He loved his parents, and they encouraged him to go on an adventure, so here he is!

    Character's current inventory 1000 gold, a spellbook, and 3 pokeballs. They have a few pairs of robes, and they also have a sleeping bag.

    Character's Pokémon, if any They have a Leafeon(female, nickname Olive), a shiny Umbreon(male, nicknamed Jet), and a Magikarp.
