    't want to monopolize this thread, hence just giving the proof, rather than changing the value of Tug 'o' War :
    Even replacing Soft Sand with Choice Band, and keeping Adamant nature only brings guaranteed 2HKO, whereas Arcanine is just enough without anything else. Do note the value speed of Arcanine with Jolly nature; he is faster than Charizard, if Charizard had not got speed boosting kits.

    This is just one of the examples where Arcanine is underrated, but punch through the popular picks with ease !!

    I took a look at the damage calcs, and noticed that Charizard was not given a speed-boosting nature. Instead it has an adamant one for attack, and only Arcanine's speed was maximized. Charizard is usually run as a fast pokemon with timid, naive or jolly, depending on the set, in this case it should be jolly like Arcanine. When they both have the same nature Charizard moves first, it's base speed is higher, it's also a guaranteed ohko with earthquake, once you give it physical attack evs, no soft sand is required.

    Now my time has come to vote for Arcanine.....



    I took a look at the damage calcs

    I also took the closer look in yours case and found that the Arcanine which you chose is Hisui variant, whereas I had considered the original Arcanine !!

    Replace that with the Original Arcanine, and the match falls to 2HKO idea for Charizard. Whereas one Rock Slide is all that's needed from Arcanine.


    And there I chose Adamant Nature to Maximize the damage from Charizard, with considering that Arcanine will go last. Added Soft Sand/Choice Band. Not guaranteed victory still.....
