The circle pad thing reminds me how the circle thing always came off on the psp too, i had to buy so many replacements. My circle pad had been okay though on my 3ds :)

So guys, question - hypothetically if I do start a 3DS Smash Bros get together, or tournament, what should the rules be?

Like, Timed Melee? Or Timed Stock? How about items and Smash spheres; should there be any?

I've always played non-timed Stock (4 or 5 lives), with items on low, Smash balls included, so.....

I have a hard time with the controls, but that's mostly because I haven't played Smash in a long time so I expect a or b to be jump and it bothers me that I can't map my own controls hnnnnng.

I prefer stock, I don't mind items (never did a 'real tournament' or the likes with smash, but items are just... fun imo. Depends how you want to run it I suppose, but a general event? Go with stock and items imo.

If you want a fair tournament don't enable items. You also need to ban certain stages as some of them are far too random and some that are very character dependent. (as in, too good, like how aerial characters have a significant advantage in brinstar)

If it's just a random and fun tournament, you can pretty much do what you want.

I tend to play with 4-5 stock, low items/Smash Ball only, infinite time. I also play on any stage and not just Final Destination, and occasionally play with items on high. But that's just my silly way of playing. If you're doing a "just for funsies" tourney, I'd recommend these rules here, and maybe turn items on a little higher. But for a real tournament, I'd turn items off, include the traditional 8 minute time limit, and only play on stages without much of a random factor.

But in Smash 3DS's case, because blast zones seem to be wider and recovery seems lots easier, I'd lower the stock to 3-4, and any stage with a Final Destination variant are able to be picked.

I tend to use 3 stock battle, with Smash Ball disabled on several stages, mainly to avoid problems when Smash Ball got 'smashed' by hazards there.

I play a 3-stock battle with the time limit at 7 minutes and only character items (Pokeballs, Assist trophies, Mr. Saturn, etc.) and Smash Balls.

    Well, colour me surprised. https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2...r_21st_launch_date_for_super_smash_bros_wii_u

The date wasn't officially confirmed by Nintendo, but it would appear we now have the next best thing: an advert from Nintendo itself which pinpoints the exact same date.

Below is a banner which comes courtesy of Nintendo France, and is the most solid indication yet that November is going to be an action-packed month for Wii U-owning Smash fans.
A pretty decent source then. I think I'd wait on getting the Wii U version though and get ORAS first... I'd already be getting that a day late anyways. But we shall see. Assuming of course the Australia date is the same as the French one.

EDIT: HOWEVER: Meanwhile, one of the comments pointed to this:
    https://www.p-nintendo.com/news/smash-bros-for-wii-u-une-possible-date-pour-l-europe-238566.
Contacted for clarification, Nintendo says that the release date specified in the advertisement is a mistake and that the output window remains end 2014 so we will have to wait a bit to get a date officially official release on Smash Bros Wii U!
Hmm. Could be just trying to save face, who knows.

Upon reading that link, I found a comment that expresses how I feel.

Edit: welp there goes my hype. I would have gotten the game the same day as Alpha Sapphire and I would've exploded from hype.

oh god, if ORAS AND SSB Wii U would be released on the same day? I'm pretty sure my head would explode, or I'd try and grow some extra arms and heads or something. I AM ONLY ONE PERSON, SPARE ME.

*ahem* And I don't think I've noticed any input delays..

There's a new article regarding the Ice Climbers' absence: https://www.gonintendo.com/s/237530...smash-bros-wii-u-3ds-as-well-as-release-dates

Hopefully they'll be back in SSB5, which by that time, Nintendo's next gen handheld will have more hardware power to handle them.

Meh, I am not upset. (Well, I am upset with the lame reasoning.)

But I feel for anyone that loved using them...I mean, if this were the equivalent of Peach for me, I would contemplate not purchasing, or at least holding a bitter grudge.

I am looking forward to new series characters by the next installment, Yokai Watch and Splatoon.
