  • Which is good on Gamefreak's part because having your dinner as a pokemon wouldn't be a very nice thing to brag about to your friends. D:

    Hey Jack!
    What?
I beat the Pokemon League with my dinner yesterday and became champion!
    ...
    Spoiler:

But seriously, while I don't like anything else about emboar, I can agree it has a decent design.

  • I'm just not big into Emboar. Not eating full-grown Pokémon is an interesting concept, perhaps there's something to that? Don't know. Anyway, it is time for a new Pokémon of the week:

    Spoiler:

    (Mega) Camerupt!

Diamond/Pearl/Platinum Pokédex: It has volcanoes on its back. If magma builds up in its body, it shudders, then erupts violently.

So we got Camerupt not too long after it had a Mega announced. I like the Mega much much more than I like the original, but I have to say recently I have grown to appreciate it more. I'm looking forward to see what Mega Camerupt is capable of.

Welcome! You should give Delphox a shot, it's really strong having Fire/Psychic-type and good Special Attack. Give it Shadow Ball to go with Flamethrower and Psychic and it can hit a lot of Pokémon.

Honestly, I'm probably gonna be using it too since I want to have Sceptile or Swampert on my team as I used Blaziken in X. I'm looking forward to seeing what it's capable of.

  • Ya I think ill use sceptile since its a rare combo well i think delphox is great just i felt Greninja was better currently not using any starters but on my last nuzlocke i used it and it did well through it. Mega sharpedo isnt that great compared to camerupt i never used mega Blaziken but who knows ill prob do several runs through Oras seeing how the starters all have great Megas. Blaziken is probably my favorite out of all the fire starters least fav is typhlosion. Thoughts on flareon hmmm

I've always been a fan of Camerupt, and was sort of disappointed to see the Pokémon not being good enough to be utilized competitively. Though, now that it has a mega-evolution form, things could hopefully look up.

I'm not exactly sure if its ability has been announced yet (as I haven't exactly had much chance of following ORAS news lately), but if it hasn't, one I'm hoping for it to wind up getting is Moxie. While it doesn't have access to much physical moves in its arsenal, it could still be able to take advantage of this ability with those that it actually does. Its Attack stat might not be too great, either, but once it mega-evolves, this could hopefully be fixed.

Edit: I've just looked it up on Google, and it seems that it's going to have Sheer Force. If it does wind up getting that, I hope that they give him access to more physical attacks, so that it would be able to utilize this ability better.

My OCD just kicked in, the members list still has my old username Dawn Defect lol :P

Camerupt never really interested me much. I guess it's because Blaziken was always my go-to fire pokemon in Hoenn so Torkoal and Camerupt got the shaft. It's probably Camerupt's typing being completely crippled by water attacks. I remember a water gun almost destroyed my Camerupt when level grinding in the sea routes lol. It does have a cool design but it's performance is underwhelming. Hopefully it's mega will make it viable for me.

  • Sheer Force works on all attacks, so why would it need more physical moves? Anyway, that sounds pretty good. I'm probably going to use one mostly because I've never used a Camerupt on a team before, so it'll be a good new experience for a new game.

I fixed your name on the list, your OCD should be calmer now. :P :)

Ah, Sheer Force works on all attacks? I'd never known that; thought it only worked with physical ones. I suppose we all learn something new every day!

I've always wanted to see an evolution for Camerupt, though, so seeing a mega-form for it right now is also sort of disappointing for me. Though, giving megas to Pokémon might not mean they won't get any real evolution in future, so there might always be some of sorts possibility, hopefully.

If Camerupt does wind up getting an actual evolution form, I'd like it if its volcano on top and legs were to grow bigger (especially latter). It'd also be nice to see it possibly gain some bulk, which, if it winds up getting defensive boost, could help explain things.

So from the looks of it, everyone's gonna be trying out Camerupt when ORAS is released? It's awesome seeing people use something other then Blaziken every playthrough (which I'm probably guilty of) so thumbs up to you guys. :) What about Torkoal though? I realise Camerupt outclasses it pretty heavily in most ways but is anyone else gonna give the turtle a go? Even though I've never really seen any appeal in it, I'd like to give new things a go come the release of ORAS and Torkoal would probably be one of them. Anyone else? :D

I wouldn't mind another evolution! It's not needed per se (seeing as Camerupt already looks pretty potent for a final evolution) but it's a good idea. :) Honestly though, I've never thought of Camerupt as a beast with volcanoes on its back. Instead, I liked to imagine it as a house. A house? What the hell are you thinking Aslan? Well, take a look at the volcanoes on the top of its back. Now imagine it as chimneys. Then think of Camerupt's body as the main structure for the house. And presto you've got yourselves a portable house with a face. :p

But anyway, I approve of the idea! If it happens we could call it... Lamarupt? Llamas are better than camels after all. ;D

  • They wont give camerupt an evolution atleast not for a long time now that they've already given it a mega. Hmmm camerupt as a house ya it kinda looks like it ive always thought about it like volcanos thT if you hit the targets itll explode hehe :) I wont be trying Torkoal ive used him in a playthrough b4 hes not appealing anymore to me is anyone gonna use macargo? Ninetales? And whos gonna be the over users of Blaziken? I havent used Blaziken since ruby and sapphire but im still not gonna use it instead im looking to either use sceptile or no starter at all.

  • It's been a while, I know, but I'm back with a new Pokémon of the Week:

    Spoiler:

    Fennekin!

X Pokédex: Eating a twig fills it with energy, and its roomy ears give vent to air hotter than 390 degrees Fahrenheit.

That's hot for such a small creature. Fennekin is my favorite of all the Kalos starters and it's design is up there among all of the first stage forms of the starters. Not to mention it evolves into Delphox, which is awesome in its own right.

To be honest, I wasn't such a huge fan of this Pokémon at first, considering that there are already plenty of others resembling it--Vulpix, Zorua, Poochyena (spelling?), and Growlithe, to name a few. Eventually, though, it began to grow on me, and I'm glad it did; now, it's one of my most favorite Pokémon in Kalos.

It's cute, and has decent attacks available in its arsenal. Plus, although Delphox, its final-stage evolution, does have human-like body structure just like most other fire-type starters, it isn't fire-fighting. This type combination has been applied to fire starters of last three generations, if I'm not mistaken, which is definitely something to talk about; some us fans were sort of tired of it. Glad that it's finally changed!

As far as battling goes, I'm not sure how good Delphox is, as I haven't used it too much. Though, I'm sure it's not bad, considering how decent its stats seem to be! Would be nice if it were to gain some mega-evolution at some point in future, but we'll likely have to wait another generation or two, considering how new the Pokémon is.

I'm kinda the opposite, honestly. When Fennekin was first announced, I thought it was the coolest thing. Full stop. Chespin and Froakie? Throw them out of the window. Over time however, I wasn't as interested or appealed in using it. Its final form was disappointing, its second evolution was cool enough and Fennekin was just well... Fennekin. Not the coolest thing ever anymore. I guess I have to agree with Ashley that the concept of the pokemon's been used so many times that the hype in me kinda died out. :(

However I will agree that it certainly has better battling capabilities then most and an awesome design. :D My hat's also off to Gamefreak for breaking the 3 generation wombocombo of fire/fighting and giving us something new. \o/

Answer to current topic: Fennekin in my opinion, is one of the best starter designs out of all the generations, mostly because I like dogs/foxes/wolves (hence my partner choices... houndoom was a close second). However, like most I was a little weirded out by its evolutions, but Delphox grew on me :) I actually went with Chesnaught, and my sister went with Delphox though hehe.

  • Fennekin is my second fave Kalos starter (only beaten by Froakie because of my love for Water-types) while also being tied with Chimchar for my all-time fave Fire starter. I like how it broke a three-generation streak of Fire/Fighting starters, plus the mage theme really complements the Chespin line's fighter theme and Froakie line's thief theme, making up three traditional RPG classes which is fitting for a European-like region such as Kalos.

Unlike most people, Delphox didn't really disappoint me in the end and it was kinda nice I managed to get one via an in-game trade (Shauna gives you the Kalos starter weak to the one you chose via a trade after beating the Elite Four fyi). Sadly its competitive prowess isn't as good as the other two, but it's still a solid special attacker.

Welcome! I have to agree about Fennekin's design, it's pretty good.

As for Delphox, it's pretty awesome in battle considering its wide movepool. It can hit pretty hard and is pretty versatile. It did very well for me playing through X.

  • Fennel on is pretty good delphox is quite powerful showcasing a new starter dual type. Have there been any other fire and psychic?
Volcarona is currently my favorite dual type with fire.

Volcarona is currently my favorite dual type with fire.

Victini is Psychic/Fire-type and Darmanitan is Fire/Psychic-type when it is in Zen Mode. Delphox is the only Fire/Psychic-type that is non-legendary and doesn't require a form to achieve it.

Volcarona is one that grew on me a lot lately, it's pretty cool and very powerful.
