I know Dhelmise isn't conventional at all, but I'm really liking Dhelmise nowadays. But Dhelmise literally makes the character's background way more interesting and also makes you feel bad for the MC. But also it will do cool things because the MC begins the story (not the background) working in a steel mill (ability: Steelworker) and because of Dhelmise's typing, the MC can't be recruited into the military because he doesnt play the supportive role of a grass type, nor does it have the proper typing for a front line wall. And its ghost type doesnt qualify it to be a speedy scout because its base speed is low. So he is put in reserves, but receives training anyways. And thats sort of how the story starts.

I might make the MC a poet so I can make an excuse to write poems lol

It will be based in a new region where there is a scarcity of pokemon, but an abundance of Z-Crystals and mega stones relative to the other regions.

Background: new region is discovered, and adventurers discover the crystals and stones. This results in a mass flood of immigrants looking to get rich quick (similar to the California Gold Rush). After a hundred years or so, these immigrants form two sides- East and West. The West side begins running low on Z-Crystals to sell, but the East hasn't; however, the West has far more efficient mining processes due to the terrain in the West and other resources. As a result, the West has more crystals and mega stones for stronger military power. The West creates deals with the other regions (Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, etc) promising them cheap crystals and mega stones in return for soldiers (aka trainers with pokemon). So the East side has an extremely uphill battle.

How war is fought: trench warfare modified to pokemon. Basically soldiers mobilize through the trenches, but also support and cleric pokemon (grass, poison types) reside there. Steel, rock, and ground types form a wall in front of trenches, so the clerics heal them as they fight while the clerics can't be hit. to push trenches, each side uses 1 of 2 strategies (or both at the same time i guess):
-Rush with grass, water, and ground z-crystals to take out the walls
-"smoke" the clerics out with poison (gas), fire (smoke), and flying (wind) z-crystals

Story: The main character (who's backstory is cool imo) is caught in the middle of this war, and of course, is on the East side cause they are automatically the good guys cause they are weaker lol. His ace pokemon, Dhelmise, puts him in a peculiar situation.

that moment when your team loses the effectiveness of 2 of your walls in the first few turns of battle, has a great pokemon haxed with an ice beam freeze that freezes over twice that would have made the team a huge comeback. When your team is basically down 3 pokemon that did very little in the match and you make a huge misplay cause of a bad prediction

... but actually clutch it and win at 5% health because your teams always have great comeback potential

Im changing my team up a lot right now. I run into this issue whenever I make a VGC team. I just dont think I'm playing consistently enough right now and I also can't seem to find good members to help out my currently good members

i think ill focus my efforts on making a singles team to kick your ass

so no OP legendaries? Are the Tapus considered legendaries or naw? I just want to know so i can prepare a team properly

well i didnt try it. I decided that it was theoretically trash

also I've changed my team a lot now. i basically had 2 useless members and 4 really great members

so during a study break i made a VGC team and won 2 games... out of 2. So I'm undefeated. #cantbeatme

also i opted out of that weird strategy

i agree. gen 7 is great evidence contrary to the claim that Gamefreak is running out of ideas for pokemon designs. The designs this generation were quality and unique.

So far my favorites are Wishiwashi, Rockruff line, Grubbin line, Rowlet line, and others that Ive seen I just haven't used. Examples include Palossand and Tapu Koko. I use a Salazzle (female on first encounter- lucky me!), and i love its design, but its not my favorite. I might actually prefer Salandit. idk why lol
