  • Likely hiring removalists. Dad may help too. I don't think a car can take the likes of bookshelves and sofas easily anyway. :V
It's nice. Shops are reasonably close by, near the train station (that goes direct to redfern even so that's useful). And yeah, water isn't far for us.

Neither of us own our own car currently (I just drive one of the family's atm), but that's alright, we aimed to rely on public transport anyway and saves us money on petrol and upkeep.
Some things (and some things pending as they are stored under the house for years, need to check what condition they are in), others we'll need to buy. And no, the place is in Meadowbank, so closer to the city.
Yeah, we did! The first place was disappointing (classy hiding of broken windows behind blinds among other things...), but we sent out a couple applications to better places.

...And then yesterday we got accepted for one. For real. :V
Having done a bit of house hunting today, some applications had actually stated they won't be considered unless we've seen the place first. :<

And we'd be quiet tenants. :V

So you know what's hip and happening?
The one we did had to be emailed, sadly. But thanks for the advice, we'll keep it in mind. Back home now so I imagine we'll start looking soon enough, online at least. Darn pricey Sydney. >:[

Good luck then. Learn all those ropes!
I think that includes a good chunk of coursework. I had to do some too, but I finished it all in the first year to get it out of the way.

Hmm, applications beforehand... Something to consider. I remember the application we did asked all sorts of unnecessary questions. >:[

Any developing ideas on what that might be?
Yeah. 3 years is the total minimum, and people often go longer than that. It varies between countries however - in the US it can easily reach 7 years!

Still am! My friend and I looked around, even sent an application for a place (and... got absolutely no answer back, meaning no. How rude). Then we got held up with various things (e.g. conferences! Possible 'hey you might be overseas for three months-nope not anymore' scenarios!). Will likely resume looking for places again following this one for a while.

That sounds a bit unstructured to me. =p And well, I can work on my PhD from home. :V
Another 2-ish years, if all goes to plan!

What do you have to do in your area? Good luck with the next rotation!
PhD life goes well. Had a few trips this year (New Jersey for a conference - took a couple days afterwards to see NYC =D), and later this week going to Perth and Rottnest Island near there. =) Meanwhile working on my first first-author paper!

Of course! How are you going?
