  • Believe me. If you continue like this, you'll have the biggest amounts of posts eventually.
You post way too much. Did you know that like when we talked like 5 days ago you had 1100. You post crazzzyy on PC.
I don't know if that's going to work out, as GP is planning to do some storyline stuff really soon, and I really shouldn't be writing until my exams are done. Maybe have Virginia rob something? That should be fairly easy, right? That way we can also get a better feel for her methods and personality.
It showed up on the top of my screen, when you click messages, haha. I only noticed you deleted it when I already send it, haha. I don't know if we can finish this JP without having to not post for a while. I'm only free to write again next tuesday, and GP will do a GM post before that, so feel free to do your own post :)
It's a wonderful poem. A fine choice for a favorite most definitely.

It is a wonderful outlet for dealing with such things. I try to channel any cynicism and pessimism I have left into certain poems to clear it from my system. If anything I like to call myself a realist however.

As a very metaphoric poet I used death mostly metaphorically. However I also take the approach of emotional death and betrayal and transfer it into an elegy-like format. For example if someone is "dead to me" for something they have done, I would transcribe that as an elegy, however this is only an example.

I tend to write two to four line verses and little quotes when I feel the itch to write but lack grander inspiration. My favorite example of this is when I wrote a three line verse based on the theme of silence, it's very short but it's probably one of my favorite works that I myself created.
His most famous work for a reason, definitely. ^-^

I know that sort of feeling, I also suffered with problems of self-worth... among other things. But I'm finished with that dark period for now, I hope, so I try to focus on brighter tomorrows. It's important to focus on the light of a new days to give you strength enough to press through the night.

And I don't often follow a particular form or pattern. Not intentionally anyway. Form is something I like to let flow openly when I write the poem. I let the words take shape and once it's finished I'll read it over and see that I've written the poem in a certain way just by writing it at all. I also write a lot of free verse to be honest, especially more recently.

Though a few of my favorite poems that I've written have been very short free verse works... and I'm also quite fond of elegies on occasion. Apart from that however I don't actually believe in trying to base my work around a specific form.

    Edit:

Oh and I forgot to mention, I think haikus can be just as pleasant in English as they are in Japanese. It's just more difficult since Japanese is such a beautiful language.
He truly is an amazing poet. His work is just so very awe-inspiring to me. Especially when you read between the lines, you can see that even the simplest things he is capable of implying so much more.

...issues? I suppose I shan't ask, as it would be rude. But a wise man once said that poetry is the harshest form of art, while many other creations are brought about through creativity and inspiration, poetry is often coupled with the beast of suffering. However it is this suffering that allows a poet to create such a beautiful work as they aim to do. For only those whom have seen their worlds at their worst are capable of dreaming of them at their best.

My own poems follow simple rhyming schemes... but I try to make up for basic structure in meaning. I love using metaphors for imagery and meaning and I tend to focus on themes of human nature and what it means to be a person. I also tend to look at very vague concepts, such as time, belief and life itself.
We should! We should! Yeats is actually one of my favorite poets and I take major inspiration from him. Along with Wordsworth, Robert Frost and a few others.

And you do? That's excellent! Not only a poetry enthusiast but a poet too.

What kind of poems do you tend to write? What themes do you like to focus on?
Poetry enthusiasts are unfortunately a rather rare breed at times. Though I find in a lot of circumstances someone may very much enjoy poetry, they just don't often talk about it.

Though personally poetry is a passion. Aside from RP and the occasional short-story, it's all I write.

Both very excellent poems as well. I also particularly enjoy "The Second Coming" by Yeats and "Ode On Intimations Of Immortality From Recollections of Early Childhood" by William Wordsworth. (Though the title is a mouth full. ^^'')

Do you ever write poems of your own?
