well it's not about how much you battle or how strong the pokemon is, if its ou or bl, ... it's just the way you handle em and the knowledge you get from every battle you do, you must try to learn something from every battle you experience, and i you have enough battle experience one can win a battle with only uu, nu against someone who thinks that using ou and bl will get him victory, next is learn what your pokemon can take and what not, to know that you have to see that in battles ( shoddy battles can help here ) and know you pokemon, like even tought it looks completely insane, when you experience your pokemon to receive much crit's then trust on that even tough things like shoddy battle will declare you crazy, then ( like you saw ) he swept your team with a pokemon that is UU and has only fire attack and a set up grass attack, that's because he learnt enough about his typhlosion ( he already uses typhlosions for like a year or longer now, same as with his other pokes ) and then of course you need your strategy to work, your team also has to have a strategy to help other team members, and of course you can also pay a visit to smogon for some extray information about your pokemon ( you don't have to take over the whole thing they say in there, even if they claim it the best thing to do, be creative and find you own things and what works best with you ) and that my friend is how he got so strong :D i hope you learnt something from this, cause it took me bloody long to type this XD
