    in 2/3 of my first matches the game has froze on "Gene is thinking..." or "Matthew is thinking...."

    anyone know a fix?

    edit: This has happened 3 times and each time Skarmory has been in play or drawn by the opponent

    Can you describe the situations in which this happened further? I playtested just now and could not find the issue. Also, what version are you playing (1.3 or legacy) and what emulator are you using?

    After playing through the finalized version I was happy to be playing a new take at gen 1 with gen 2 cards, but after beating it seems to no longer have the challenge hall be available. Plus it seems Ronald rarely gives you Master Ball post-game, even when using save states he just keeps giving me Unown. Shadow Lugia, and Entei or I am just unlucky?

    Also when I played the legacy verison and used Eevee's energy evolution, it told there was no Eevee evolutions. Despite this I was still able to select Espeon. Along with Cleffa's eek giving me the same hand not matter how many times I use it.

    Hey there. First off, fantastic rom hack! I've been getting back into the Pokemon TCG mainly with retro Wotc stuff this past year or so. I played the english translation of TCG2 and loved it. Was so happy to find your rom hack using the Neo cards!

    I can confirm the above. I playing the game on original hardware using a everdrive flashcart from Kritzz (not a 5x or 7x mind you, a earlier version from a few years ago now).
    I'm using version 1.3 of your rom, and im playing the legacy version. I patched a USA version of the rom, MD5 checksum is: 219b2cc64e5a052003015d4bd4c622cd (which is this exact rom here: https://datomatic.no-intro.org/index.php?page=show_record&s=47&n=0931)

    I just started the game, got my starter deck, and went to the rock club to fight Matthew. It was on his first turn, he played a card then "Matthew is thinking...." happened and the game crashed. Sound froze and buttons unresponsive. Had to reset my GBC and have not had it happen since but I've only fought him twice at this point and done nothing else.


    Also had another glitch happen, I played a Croconaw on my 3rd or 4th turn against Matthew, I went to use the Screech attack, on the coin flip screen the game shows Japanese text. I've attached photos for reference.

    If i lose the coin toss and he starts, it always freezes on his first turn with "gene is thinking"

    If i start its fine, but always crashes at some point throughout the match. Ive tired like 8 times and cant play a full match.

    In Grass club, same thing happens when I fight Brittany whos at the game table in the left room when you enter. Game will crash during the battle.

    Setup/game info is same as in my original post.

    For everyone: I fixed some things that will be coming soon. Screech has now works properly (it was calling a coinflip because I was trying to change it into a different effect, forgot to take it out) without the coinflip, Cleffa's EEK will now work in all versions, and Eevee's energy evolution will also now report back properly if you have eeveelutions in your deck or not.

    I have also fixed one part of game freeze glitch. After checking several times trying to get the freeze to work, I think I figured it out: There was a routine accounting for AI damage that led to nowhere, causing the game to freak out. This has been fixed. However in fixing this and looking back on other things, I realized there is a part 2 to the game freeze glitch, in that I deleted Prehistoric Power from legacy version in the wrong way. I have to update that code too- then Legacy version should be free of bugs. (Note: the game freeze glitch is NOT present in V1.3 because the above code is only present in Legacy)

    I'll try and get everything compiled tomorrow.

    Whether I patch legacy or the normal version, it just results in a vanilla ROM. The patching is successful, but the game remains unchanged.

    I put in the wrong files… I'll deal with it tomorrow. Zip files deleted for now so now one gets confused.

    Thanks! Did you update your dropbox link as well? That one results in an unpatched rom still. But the forum attachment works. About to test it out now!

    Gave this hack a playthrough (on 1.3 tho), it's pretty good. Not super versed in this era of the TCG, but from looking through the docs it seems like you basically completely re-invented the set and promoted a lot of these cards from unplayable nonsense. The actual cards of this era look super gross; you did a good job making them sane and playable. Will probably give the hack a couple more playthroughs to mess with other deck types.

    Togetic (in both forms) feels a bit overtuned for a colorless you can slap on any deck. The Metronome one is probably fine overall since it mostly just adapts well to the game not being about big basics anymore. The Sweet Kiss one is just absurd though; above-average HP, can donate that HP to its friends, has a reliable attack that is already above-curve on damage which also gives feral draw? The basics they evolve from aren't even that bad either. Did the entire endgame with a Shining Raichu+Sneasel deck that had both Togetics and it felt like the Togetics did most of the work in enabling the deck.

    Overall though the game does get away from the Big Basics the original was known for, it feels like? Definitely seemed like that was a goal of this hack from the Hitmonchan, and feels like it succeeded. Draw power is still unhinged but that's the game's identity, so it's good that it's like that. Energy Removal nerfing was also a good idea; AI did a noticeably better job at actually developing its mons in this hack than in my recent playthrough of vanilla. Matches in general also tended to go longer.

    I hit a couple of bugs. Firstly, Crystal Lugia's whirlwind counts as switching even if no switch actually occurs due to a lack of bench, causing it to escape some effects (Togepi's damage reduction being the one I noticed). Secondly, the power Dark Descent doesn't seem to check for kills properly after activating; had a KO'd Sentret just sitting on my bench through my own turn.

    Also there might be something weird going on with trainer rarities? I never pulled a single Pokemon Center/Nurse or Ruin Wall, and neither of those are meant to even be Rare. Could just be freak luck on my end, though.

    Wow, to think that a legendary hacker played my game 0_0

    Yes, for 1.3 I revamped every card because the Neo meta is basically coinflip after coinflip, which to me isn't fun. Although the Legacy version of my game does have a somewhat accurate representation of the cards, for those that do enjoy that kind of thing. Also yes, one of the stated goals of V1.3 was to give evolved pokemon a better shot at doing anything and not just relying on overpowered basics and trainers to win. (Although I can't nerf the draw/search power too much, the TCG inherently relies on it in order to function as a game)

    I will look into the Togetics. They are one of a few cards I am watching in terms of balance.

    And I'll look into those glitches. Might be able to correct that switching glitch, and I could have sworn Dark Descent worked properly in an earlier build, but thank you for telling me.

    As for the card collection thing… people have been complaining since day 1 that they have been receiving certain cards over others, and I haven't even touched the booster pack decision making process. Also, I happen to notice that the same thing happens to me and everyone else in the original game. The best I can figure is the the booster pack selection process isn't truly random and decides certain cards based upon another criteria that I don't know about. So sadly I can't do much about it… should probably put a disclaimer in the bugs section though…

    FYI the non-legacy girl version from the drop box doesn't patch anything. I tried 2 online patchers, flips (linux), lunar ips (via wine on linux), built poke tcg rom from the git repo (vs other rom I had), then finally created an account here and downloaded through the first post link then and applied the patch and now it's working. Convoluted way to say the dropbox link is outdated or whatever, which I believe you mentioned a few posts back anyhow.

I tried 2 online patchers, flips (linux), lunar ips (via wine on linux), built poke tcg rom from the git repo (vs other rom I had), then finally created an account here and downloaded through the first post link then and applied the patch and now it's working. Convoluted way to say the dropbox link is outdated or whatever, which I believe you mentioned a few posts back anyhow.
    I'll correct it later today.
