Up until last summer it had been pretty decent. I got out of college and moved to Kansas City. Got a decent job, in the field I graduated in. But last summer I spend 6 weeks in the hospital once my body decided that an organ just had to go. ( I was diagnosed with an auto-immune decease) The recovery from that hospital stay was long. Before hand I had never been in the hospital before. But I went from never being in the hospital, to having two major surgeries and having an extended stay. Not fun times.
A few months after being out of the hospital, when the medial bills started to pile up. Total hospital charges where over two hundred and forty-two thousand. Insurance took care of most of it, but I am still responsible for a good chunk of it. My discontent with not being paid market norms pushed me to find a different job, which was pretty unsettling. Going from a steady job getting paid a okay, but not enough for what I was doing, to starting at a new company and learning an whole new culture. On the plus side, I now make way more than I was, and I'm learning a lot.
What about you? I hope life has been treating you better than it has me.
