Which version you should get depends if you can notice the frame rate. I find the Wii version vastly superior because the framerate is very smooth and consistent, whereas 3DS is 30fps with drops. Though, the 3DS has normal button layouts (rolling is mapped to a button instead of waggling the Wiimote), plus it has an easy mode where you get more hearts and items to buy. I don't really expect you to get it soon or anything, but you definitely should try it out if you get the chance whenever that is. The DS game is more of a spin off than anything and doesn't play like a DKC game, but it's pretty good. Think Kirby Mass Attack compared to a normal Kirby game, only the gimmicks is clinging and swinging.
DKCR actually has super guide if you're stuck on a level and you want to skip it lol. I really never got why people complained about that feature in platformers though.
