Well, I figure I should share what I already have. Admittedly, this version of the RP is mainly about exploration and then just having a league at the end between the players. However, I did have a first draft that had more of a plot, so I'll be sharing bits and pieces from both. Most of what I have to share is admittedly just locations and stuff I thought would be interesting.
Was aiming for a simple, quiet start, so the trainers progress from Mahono Town to Nashimity Town to eventually Akurnai City (there's a beach on the way), which is where stuff actually starts to happen. I consider it to be important at least for the fact it sets up how Pokemon Gyms and training are really perceived in the region because that's where the first gym is. The idea is that the city is focused on so many other forms of entertainment such as sport or theatrics (which still incorporate Pokemon, but not really battling), that battling isn't really trendy anymore. I wanted to reflect this in the attitudes of the people who live there, etc., maybe even the gym leader (dark-type). The city's main quirk is that it's really close to the Hoenn region, particularly Rustboro City. There's a large bridge under construction between the two regions, was thinking of involving the Champion more as a political figure/influencer present there to showcase part of the construction as well as maybe the mayor or maybe a cameo from Roxanne/Mr. Stone.
Later on there's your stock-standard forest, another city (Vinylace) and gym (poison-type). I was thinking there'd be a ranch similar to Floccesy Town in Unova or something like where players can get an egg or something like that. Still not really plot heavy but I wanted the city to have a more traditional vibe compared to the modernity of Akurnai, so stuff like wooden buildings, etc. I was planning to have encounters in towns and cities too, so I was thinking that wild Timburr would roam the city and help out with construction what not but I haven't really fleshed it much beyond that yet. One thing I wanted to do with the RP as a whole is just represent how different places are by the availability of the Pokemon there.
After that the trainers go through their first cave, Magalamp cave, which is a cave which is illuminated by the trails of Slugma moving around the cave - a uniqueish gimmick I thought would be neat. Maybe some sort of fossil sidequest here? I dunno. After they exist the cave they're greeted by a nice greeny riverside thing with a wooden bridge carved in the shape of a Seviper (based off the Kintaikyo bridge in Iwakuni, Japan) before they enter Momoka City, which is based off Iwakuni itself. In my notes, I wrote that it rains a lot there, but I hadn't planned much else besides another gym (normal-type). Similar to Camphrier Town in Kalos, I made a route which heads towards an abandoned castle (based off Iwakuni castle - a lot of the places are based off places in Western Honshu tbh, with some liberties). Although not snowy, I described it as cold, perhaps from its spooky aura? I was thinking maybe it'd be a decent place to introduce an evil team or something?
In terms of encounters and the like, that's as far as I got, but I did brainstorm a bit further in terms of towns/cities, with the next one being based off Miyashima, I was thinking giving it a Pacifidlog Town-ish vibe, though a bit more spiritual? Then on from there, they'd head out to Highrose City, the biggest city in the region which is based off Hiroshima - very modern vibes to contrast again, though also kinda shady. I read up that the largest group of Yakuza are actually based in Hiroshima, so I was thinking of having some sort of evil team based on them - the placeholder name I've been using is Team Phantom 'cause they'd be working in the shadows, but yeah. My idea is that they'd control the whole port area of the city, I guess not unlike Team Plasma in Castelia City.
Anyway, I know that's a lot, but I figured I'd provide some sort of geographical context before trying to fit in a story hahah. I was honestly hoping that the roleplayers would create their own arcs, etc., so I'm a little stuck on that. Ideally though, I guess the plot would deviate according to what their characters' aspirations are, etc.
And yeah in terms of limits I guess I meant more character-wise.
