    Amiibo Casino

Hey! Sorry for the late submission everyone, but I have basically everything already sorted for the event!

The concept behind Amiibo Casino is quite simple. A live stream can be done in the PokeCommunity server where games of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are played with Fully Trained Amiibo Figures. Viewers before matches will be able to place their bets on which amiibo will win each fight, securing points for their team if successful. I have about 44 amiibo that are currently trained and ready, with another 40 in the middle of training.

Would love to hear opinions on point distribution, but I was thinking that everyone could have their own point counter that adds to the teams, along with a bonus for people with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd highest amount of points by the end of the games. (maybe a fun last place prize too, for people who join late or want to try and play into their bad choices).

I think this is a event that could be held multiple times, rewarding people who attend multiple. (they will be more familiar with which amiibo are stronger and such).

Some other fleeting ideas for different themes for it:

    • Singles (Standard Tournament Bracket)
    • Double or Nothing (Two v Two on teams)
    • Tag Team (3v3 with one stock for each amiibo on the team)

Really glad you managed to bring this here cause it sounds REALLY good. Sorry for the delay in coming back to you but generally this is a great idea.

    A few things:

    - Regarding streaming, yes this can be done in the PC Discord server with ease, however is it easier/better from your experience to do it wherever you host it to (if it's not Discord already)? Happy to accommodate whatever you need for the event.
    - Regarding a schedule, how will you be setting this up. Will it be for example you make the whole bracket and then let people pick all of their options, before then streaming the entire tournament/event?
    - If not, what sort of time period were you thinking to allow people to select who they think will win?
    - In terms of points, I think awarding a high amount of points for 1st/2nd/3rd would work for sure, maybe something like 100/75/50 for the top 3.
    - Regarding your last place comment, this could be one of the achievements! Could also think about maybe people who get correct guessing streaks, placing top 3 in multiple tournaments, etc.
    - What sort of days/times would you be HAPPY to host this? Don't want you to think it has to be every day for example if you're not comfortable sticking to it :)

    - Streaming in the PC discord seems like the best idea, easy for people to drop in and out inside of the community. Could have a Twitch co-stream if people like that environment more.
    - I believe how I'd like to set it up is a bracket of maybe 32 fighters, in a classic tournament fashion. Maybe round 1 people can vote ahead of time if they can't make the event, but subsequent rounds would have to be live. I was hoping for people to be able to pick favorites and follow them throughout the rest of the tournaments. Would use the in game tournament mode to run smoothly ("A" format below)

    - Somewhat related to the last answer but I'll go into more detail. People could place their bets on the initial rounds, giving people 16 options off the bat without seeing the tourney live. However, if watched live, people cna vote on the subsequent rounds, meaning more points available for actually attending. I do like people being able to participate without having to be there live though, so I think that initial rounds solution is a good compromise whilst still having a audience and engagement in a live event.
    - I didn't want to speculate on points because I didn't want to mess around with the "balance" of the Get Together. But I like your suggestion of 100/75/50 for the top 3 over the multiple events.
    - I didn't know about achievements and that sounds fun! I could think of some others too. I like last place, streaks and top 3 in multiple runs ideas!
    - I could likely host a series of 5 or 6 of these. On weekdays, I can do them from 5pm to 11pm AEST (6am - 12pm GMT, 11pm - 5am PT). However, on weekends I'll try and run America centric ones, running from 10am to 4pm AEST ( 12am - 6am GMT, 5pm - 11pm PT)

The series that I have thought of are

    - Ground Zero (32 fighters, competitive ruleset, no items etc etc, Vanilla Smash Ultimate)
    - Double or Nothing (16 Teams of two, similar rules as above)
    - Tag Team (Tag Team Tournament, 5 amiibo to a team, each stock is a new fighter. 8 teams.)
    - Turbo Time (Turbo mode enabled on a modded version of smash, similar to Ground Zero expect for those rules. (Turbo meaning that the amiibo can immediately attack again after landing an attack).
    - Casual (all items on, smash meter on, stage list going whacky)

  • Honestly I think this sounds all good to me, you seem to have every option covered really and all there is to really think about is getting an actual post put together and maybe some achievements (but by all means, if you're struggling don't feel you have to!)

So if you could just pop it into a nice and pretty (no CSS needed if you don't want, I can also lend a hand with this!) post, also post the times you've mentioned into the scheduling thread at the top of this section and then I think we're golden :)

  • Just leaving a reminder that there's only a week left. We'll need your finished OP ready, your scheduling posted in the correct thread and also your Discord information (to give you access to the EO channel there) before that time is up.

What is it and when is it?

Amiibo Casino is a spectator event where fully trained amiibo Fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fight it out in a tournament style bracket! Spectators are prompted to pick a preferred fighter for each match and points are awarded to the spectators who bet on the winning fighter. The event will take place over two days with three different brackets! These consist of:

    October 14th, 8:30pm: Ground Zero. (32 Fighters, 1v1)
    October 14th, 5:00am: Double or Nothing (16 Teams, 2v2)
October 15th, 8:30pm: Casual (32 Fighters, 1v1, Casual and whacky ruleset)

These matches will be streamed in the PokeCommunity Discord server for all to view and participate in! All you will have to do is type out your bets in the discord chat channel provided and we will handle it all!

    How are points awarded?

Every participant gains 1 point per correct bet. However, an additional point is rewarded if you guess correctly consecutively! In addition there are a plentiful amount of achievements to attempt.

Series Supporter: Bet for all the fighters from a select ONE of the following series of games (Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Fire Emblem) (10 Points)
Biggest Loser: Get under 25% of your bets correct. (10 Points)
Professional Analyst: Correctly guess the winner of all four events. (20 Points)
Win Streak: Correctly guess the winner 7 times in a row. (20 Points)
Biggest Fan: Bet for the overall winning fighter or team from start to finish. (20 Points)

What if I can't make it live?

We understand that not everyone will be able to watch live. 24 hours before an event goes live, the initial bracket will be posted allowing for people to make bets through a Google Poll for the first round matches on each day.

I hope you have a chance to watch and enjoy the event!
