I finally started playing Pokemon Unbound after hearing so many good things about the game. After beating the elite 4 on Expert I was ready for more of a challenge. So I restarted the game on Insane difficulty. This thread will be updated on passing major battles along the journey such gym leaders, rival fights, and mission bosses. The goal is to hopefully not get hard stuck on a fight for to long and be able to beat the game (and finally see the post-game content).

    Gym #1 (Mirskle)

This Battle is more annoying than hard. This Gyms unique gimmick is a "fog" effect, that reduces the accuracy of all pokemon. With attacks always missing, all their pokemon having leftovers and healing from grassy terrain 70% of the fight turns into just watching post turn healing animations. With that cut out in editing we got a nice 4 minute fight with Mirskle and should be rewarded with the Patience Badge.

    Shadow Marlon Fight

This is our first battle against the main villains of the game, in which I think they might be the toughest villain org in any pokemon game. The was a double battle but with an ally Jax so we only got to use 3 pokemon. The 3 pokemon we used were, Comfey, Mawile and Oricorio. This fight was tough as we don't have full control so we have to find a way to work with our teammates Ai. As well as the pokemon the Shadows use, such as Shiftry and Swoobat can easily take out everyone.

    Gym #2 (Vega)

Back to get our 2nd gym badge it is clear, the difficulty is really starting to increase compared to the first gym. Gym Leader Vega is a dark type leader who has an amazing team of a liepard, honchkrow, spiritomb, pawniard and his ace a MEGA Absol. Seeing a mega pokemon this early into a pokemon game is gunna be tough but we have cooked up a strategy to counter it!

The team we used to beat this gym was Skorupi, Comfey, Oricorio, Floatzel, azumarill and Pignite. Our strategy for this fight will revolve around Oricorio with the dancer ability and Floatzel!

    IVORY & ZEPH

Shortly after beating the 2nd gym we run into our next big battle in the same town. This one was a challenge as we have to take on 2 battles in a row without being able to heal or change our pokemon in-between. The First battle is against Ivory which has a Hex move set Misdreavous, a vullaby and their ace pokemon Alakazam. The biggest challenge was the Alakazam as if it sets up Physic Terrain it will 1 shot everyone with Expanded force. Our counter to this is our newest member Honchkrow.

As soon as the first battle is done we are instantly put into the next one against Boss Zeph. He only has one pokemon but it is a Mega Houndoom. It was important to beat Ivory without Azumarill or Floatzel taking any damage as they are how we will take down the houndoom!

    GYM #3 ALICE

This might have been the toughest gym leader I've played in any pokemon game. Alice is a flying type leader with an insane strong group of pokemon (Skarmory, Dodrio, Mega Pinsir, Gliscor, and Crobat). Although Ice and Rock types are very common leading up to this gym, its the field effect that makes this so much tougher. This Gym has a "Mysterious Wind" Protecting flying types, this gives them a tailwind speed boost as well damage from super effective moves are reduced.

The team used to take down this gym was: Boldore, Duskull, Alolan Sandslash, Mawile, Honckrow and Azumarill.

Boldore was key for setting stealth rocks they couldn't remove, and although reduced damage still hit hard with rock blast
Duskull was able to burn Skarmory and dodrio. While being a switch in nightmare for them.
Sandslash was a Tanky wall against a burnt Dodrio and was able to remove their stealth rocks.
Mawile only used one move all battle but took out their Mega Pinsir with a Sucker Punch.
Honckrow was able to get chip damage with nightside on multiple pokemon.
Azumarill was the only one able to get big enough damage on Gliscor before it could toxic stall

    GYM #4 MEL (Inverse Battle)

Today we take on the 4th gym leader Mel. Going into this battle it may seem easy as it is a normal type gym but that is not the case. You soon find out this gym is an Inverse Battle gym. This means the only super effective moves against Normal types will now be Ghost types but Ghost will also be super weak to normal moves. This gym had some heavy hitting pokemon with the team being (Porygon-Z, Guts Swellow, Mega Kangaskhan, Type: NULL, and a Snorlax.

The Team used to take down this gym was: Electrode, Grubbin, Skorupi, Gengar, Yenmega, and Honchkrow

Electrodes whole role on the team was to out speed the Porygon-Z and paralyze it to reduce its speed as it out speed the rest of the team.
Grubbin was not even trained, since it was now faster than Porygon-Z it set up Sticky Webs to slow down their whole team.
Skorupi was the last part of the set up, by setting toxic spikes.
Gengar now had a boosted Hex from the posion and Paralyzes set up on their team, as well as the boost of Ghost types being super effective. This made him able to take out, Porygon-Z, Mega Kangaskhan, and Snorlax
Yenmega was our counter to a burnt, Guts ability Swellow as Bug moves were super effective.
Honchkrow was our tank, used to counter Type: NULL, with a Rocky Helmet, Night Shade and poison damage from the spikes.
