Best Alternative Three-Stage Pokemon as Starters

A list of three-stage evolution families.

Grass: oddish, hoppip, lotad, Seedot, Budew, sewaddle
Fire: magby, Litwick, Fletchling (uh, if it was fire/flying)
Water: poliwag, horsea, azurill, lotad, spheal, tymepole

Ignoring evolution methods and stats which would resemble other starters (you may designate which split evolution route applies). By design, and perhaps, secondary typing, select one starter per type that would make the best starter trio. Pretend that these pokemon had never been introduced.

Please explain why as well ;)

I'd go with:

Grass: Sewaddle due to its evolutions being the most unique of the bunch
Fire: Magby, it has good coverage but isn't OP
Water: Poliwag, because a divergent evolving stater would be cool

Grass: Sewaddle - He has a unique typing, starts of kinda weak, but Matrifol packs a punch
Water: Spheal - Simply cute and adorable, and he is an ice-type as well!
Fire: Magby - No doubt, i think he could easily fit the role of Starter

I'd actually like to propose some 2 stage families as starters instead :x mostly because there are so few to choose from otherwise and most of those I wouldn't like to see as starters at all.

Pure typed 8) Always liked Sunflora. Alternatively, if you want to mix the fire/grass/water trio with psychic/dark/fighting...

Out of the 3 stage choices presented in the OP poll though, I'm not sure actually. Maybe Magby/Budew/Tympole.

Well im going to post some 2 stages as well! Although Red Hawt stole Houndoom, my favorite :(

Darumaka -> Darmanitan

Chinchou -> Lanturn

Exeggcute -> Exxegcutor

I feel like Lanturn, Gyarados and Exeggutor would be a bit too weird as starters. It's just my opinion, haha. Starters have always been at least relatively non-odd in their design.

 

[Hiatus]

For three-stagers, I would say Magby, Budew, and Poliwag. I do want to go with ones that haven't been suggested yet, but can't think of any right now. :( As for two-stage evolutions, I'll choose Shroomish, Frillish, and maybe Vulpix.
