Building a team around Infernape + 6th Pokemon Help

  • Slowly learning how to build teams before trying to learn the metagame.

Idk if this team is decent or not, but it seems as though there are a lot of resistances.

    1)Infernape

    2)Rotom-Wash

    3)Mega Scizor

    4)Clefable

    5) Swampert

    6) ???????

If anyone can help me out with my sixth pokemon, I would appreciate it. :P

Also, judge my team? The thing about it is that I have resistances against everything except Ghost (all of my Pokemon suffer neutral damage.)

  • Swampert is only good as its Mega Evolution; its regular form just doesn't cut it anymore. If you want a better Stealth Rock setter, try Therian Landorus:
    -Stealth Rock
    -Earthquake
    -U-turn
    -Stone Edge/Knock Off/Rock Slide
    Nature: Impish
    EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
    Item: Leftovers

Even Garchomp makes a good offensive Stealth Rocker:
    -Stealth Rock
    -Outrage/Dragon Claw
    -Earthquake
    -Fire Blast/Swords Dance
    Nature: Naive/Jolly
    EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
    Item: Rocky Helmet/Lum Berry/Focus Sash

Providing moves for each of your team members will help loads.

  • Since I'm still a newbie, I rock the Smogon sets.

    Infernape @ Life Orb
    Ability: Iron Fist
    EVs: 168 Atk / 88 SpA / 252 Spe
    Naive Nature
    - Fire Blast
    - Close Combat
    - Mach Punch
    - Grass Knot

    Rotom-Wash @ Chesto Berry
    Ability: Levitate
    EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe
    Bold Nature
    - Volt Switch
    - Hydro Pump
    - Will-O-Wisp
    - Pain Split

    Scizor @ Scizorite
    Ability: Light Metal
    EVs: 248 HP / 84 Atk / 176 SpD
    Impish Nature
    - Swords Dance
    - Roost
    - Bullet Punch
    - Knock Off

    Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
    Ability: Rough Skin
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Stealth Rock
    - Earthquake
    - Dragon Claw
    - Fire Blast

    Clefable @ Leftovers
    Ability: Magic Guard
    EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
    Calm Nature
    - Calm Mind
    - Moonblast
    - Soft-Boiled
    - Flamethrower

    Porygon-Z @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Adaptability
    EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
    Modest Nature
    - Tri Attack
    - Dark Pulse
    - Thunderbolt
    - Ice Beam

If you can provide help, suggestions, and a rating of my team, that would help a ton (since I'm still learning and constructive criticism would be nice).

  • As good as Porygon-Z is on paper, it falls flat in practice because pure Normal isn't exactly the best typing to have for an offensive Pokemon. IMO, Gengar should be used over it, as it provides not only offense, but also utility:
    -Shadow Ball
    -Sludge Wave/Sludge Bomb
    -Focus Blast
    -Destiny Bond/Taunt/Substitute
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 252 SAtk/4 SDef/252 Spe
    Item: Life Orb/Focus Sash/Black Sludge

    or
    -Substitute
    -Shadow Ball
    -Will-o-Wisp
    -Taunt/Sludge Bomb/Sludge Wave/Disable
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 28 HP/148 SAtk/80 SDef/252 Spe
    Item: Black Sludge

    or
    -Hex
    -Taunt
    -Will-o-Wisp
    -Sludge Wave/Sludge Bomb/Substitute
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 8 HP/248 SAtk/252 Spe
    Item: Black Sludge

Wash Rotom should have Leftovers if it's using Pain Split.

Just a minor change, since you are using jolly garchomp, you might want to switch fire blast for fire fang as its a fire blast is a special attack.

I'd rather have Swords Dance in that last slot, as Fire Fang is a somewhat weak move and you won't get much use out of it.

Have you tried running Diancie as a Stealth Rock setter yet? Pretty awesome, she tanks hits like a pro, even with her low HP stat.

You could use regular Diancie, but its Mega form overshadows it in every way possible, due to its superior Speed. Diancie's common weaknesses are also a hindrance, though it's a decent bird spam check.
