Sharpedo vs. Honchkrow

Sharpedo, The Brutal Pokémon. Nicknamed "the bully of the sea," Sharpedo is widely feared. Its cruel fangs grow back immediately if they snap off. Just one of these Pokémon can thoroughly tear apart a supertanker. Sharpedo can swim at speeds of up to 75 mph by jetting seawater out of its backside. This Pokémon's drawback is its inability to swim long distances. Its fangs rip through sheet iron.

Honchkrow, The Big Boss Pokémon. If one utters a deep cry, many Murkrow gather quickly. For this, it is called "Summoner of Night." Becoming active at night, it is known to swarm with numerous Murkrow in tow.

Reason I like dark types: I think that dark types have a lot more varied appearances then other types with nearly all dark types looking unique. I also like to use them in battles as their moves are a lot more fun to use then other types moves.
Favorite dark type: Umbreon as I like the eeveelutions in general but I like the look of umbreons cool appearance.

I think that honchcrow has a cooler design as it is like the head honcho which it actually kind if says in his name hence the honcho he also seems like also very malevolent poke on seeming intimidating.
I think that honchkrow would win over Sharpedo as it's ability moxie could help it a lot along with good special attack and even better attack while shared has a very weak defense which makes it easy prey for honchkrow.
I would have to say that I prefer honchkrow over Sharpedo as in my opinion honchkrow has a much more sinister design while sharpedo just seems like some random shark.
I like the typing of water and dark more however but in my opinion they messed that up with sharpedo but they did much better with greninja.

Sharpedo. It can Mega Evolve and has Speed Boost.

Honchkrow only wins in this one. The Flying part erases two weaknesses of Dark, and only has four weaknesses. Water/Dark has five.

Which dark type do you think has the best design and why?
While I love their designs and should be biased on Sharpedo. I'm with Honchkrow, since it has a better design. Its color are also fitting for its type.

Who do you think might win in a battle?
Sharpedo. As it has access to Speed Boost, Ice Fang and other strong moves. While one shouldn't underestimate Honchkrow's Brave Bird, as it is able to OHKO Sharpedo.

In your opinion do you think one is better than the other? Why? Are there specific moves that one can learn that may give them the advantage? Or does one just clearly have better stats? Moveset wise, Sharpedo is better than Honchkrow. Stat wise, they aren't that good while Sharpedo has a more reasonable stat.

Which one is your overall favorite and why?
Easily Sharpedo, as it looks fierce.

Which type combinations do you like best? Dark/Water or Flying/Dark?
I'm totally with Water/Dark, even though it isn't a unique type.

Zoroark becaues its ability is Illusion and really cool.. it can trick others if used correctly. Then, it can set up nasty plot, with its high speed and can become a powerful wallbreaker.

Sharpedo has a great advantage in speed and knowing ice type moves so im gonna have to go with him.

Sharpedo clearly has better stats and can also mega evolve so hes clearly a better choice in the battling area of coarse unless your going for typing.

Flying and Dark just cause theres alot of water types already and theres only three flying and dark type lines and both are pretty cool.

So taking alittle break from the POTW and other things heres a cool question:
With the "upcoming" (as in like 8 months from now) Pokemon Games Sun and Moon there is likely to be new pokemon introduced as well as perhaps a new region. What animals would you like to be portrayed in these games or future games as dark type Pokemon? What dark type combinations are you hoping to see?

Id like to see another wolf cause I feel they make great dark types but thats just me also I really wanna see some more Fire/Dark and i really really wanna see a Dark/Fairy.

New dark types for sun and moon? I would love to see a decent bulky dark/poison type like skuntank was, but based on a different animal, a bear perhaps. We could also do with more options for special attackers, as houndoom is our only real option right now.

Which Generation of Pokemon do you think introduced the best Dark types so far?

For me its probably Gen 5 cause I mean comeon Hydreigon, Krookodile, Bisharp and of course Zoroark, theyre just all pretty great and oh theres Mandibuzz too! That region had some great dark types and great pokemon in general Gen 3 had absol which i respect but i wasnt that big a fan of shiftry or cacturne so yeah Gen 5 ftw haha

Reason you love dark types: Oh-hoh, this is gonna be a long one. It all started with my first ever shiny: The Eevee I got from BIll in Pokémon Gold. Didn't have easy access to evolution stones, so I just kept him along with me. I named him Shadow, after a dog I had as a kid. (I mean, I was, like, 12, at this point, but, yeah). Anyways, Shadow evolved, one night into an Umbreon, and that was how I discovered the Dark-type. After realizing it was the only type not represented by a Gym, I decided that I wanted to be a dark-type specialist. And I have been, ever since. Plus, psychic-types in Gen 1 made me hate them with a fiery passion and wish mega-death upon all psychics, I love their designs, I love the pokédex entries associated with most dark-types, and just feel that they're an all-around awesome, if tragically misunderstood and underappreciated type.

Sun and Moon has been discussed a lot around the forum. So for this new gen with obvious new pokemon what type of new dark types would you guys like to see? Are there any type combinations you are looking forward to? Is there any animal or real life thing that youd like to see as a new dark type?

Personally I reallllllly wanna see a dark/electric type, along with a dark and fairy cause that would be super cool!

A dark/electric type would be pretty cool, dark/fairy, dark/normal and dark/bug are good ideas, too, since they also don't exist, currently. Personally, though, I want a dark/fire type that is competitively viable without sun support. I love Houndoom, but I hate having to sac a spot for Sunny Day, because no dark-types can have drought. I usually end up using Greninja and Hydreigon for fire-type coverage, instead.

For starters I hope that the new Legendary is a Dark type, as to my knowledge there are only two Dark type legendaries, and I think we need a third one. Personally, I would like to see a Dark/Flying type that is based on an owl, you would think it would be obvious to Nintendo to make an owl a Dark type, but they haven't done that. Other than that, judging by the appearence of Litten, I think it may evlove and gain a Dark type secondary. That is all I have to say on this since I don't know much about the two new games.

Welcome! I used to have a dog named Shadow (black border collie) and so I named an Umbreon in the 4th gen after him. Really cool that your first shiny was also the Eevee received form Bill. :)

Welcome to the club! I feel iffy on another Dark/Flying type this soon as we have Honchkrow and Yveltal. I would like to see Dark/Ghost that's offensive rather than offensive. You'd think something nightmarish would have strong attacks.
