  • I really want to play Ruby Destiny, and there are GBA emulator apps on the android market, but since RD is a hack, will it play them? and if so,how do I open the rom once it' s downloaded? don't ask me to just play it on my PC, as it is currently not connected to the internet :( I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to post this, but yahoo answers has failed me Ans I don't know where else to go.. P .S. my specific phone is the Samsung Galaxy S, if that helps.

I don't know the ins and outs of emulators on the phone, but I imagine you just patch a Ruby ROM with the IPS patch like you would on a computer, and you can play it.

Problem now is, can you patch a ROM with an IPS on your phone?

  • Im not super knowledegable on roms, but If it's just a 1 time patch, that modifies the rom, then it'll work.

Patch it on PC, then transfer to droid.

  • I've played Hacks on my Droid X. Just patch them on a computer and transfer them over, works like a charm.

Emulators on Android phones work really well. Specifically the Gameboid app is the best that I know of. It only plays GBA games though, there is a GBCoid app though if you wanna play GBC games.

Not sure.. Try searching in the android market for ROM downloaders; Some have popular hacked roms for example i downloaded a "Pokemon Chaos Black" With a bunch of hacked pokemon and such.

Otherwise i dont know how to do that :\

  • Yeah Gameboid, plays hacked ROMs, I beta test Liquid Crystal with it on my Nexus S. Gameboid Lite which is free will do, so you don't need to buy anything. You need a GBA BIOS though.

A majority of hacks are playable but there are a few exceptions. Having tested these on both gpsphone and gamboid (and having confirmed they work on VBA)

    - Pokemon Crono leaves a white screen
    - Pokemon Never does not start
    - Pokemon Shiny Gold Beta 5 has the infamous start glitch (start button causes ROM crash)
    - Some other assorted hacks (particularly those that are heavily expanded or have dramatic graphic alterations) seem to freeze at inopportune moments

I recommend saving regularly normally as well as savestating, as if you accidentally save state after a glitch in the emulator you will be stuck in that state.

So yeah, in conclusion, the mobile emulators generally work well for hacks just be aware there are exceptions.

  • Its easy, you just download the ROM and GBA BIOS to your SD Card. Grab GameBoid Lite from the Market or you can buy the full version. Only difference is that you can use save states, doesn't really effect me. Then open GameBoid and it will ask you to browse to Bios file then it will as for the ROM, and u just play as you would on a regular GBA! Have fun!

  • i still dont get how to get the software working

Try googling Gameboid.apk and download and install it on your phone. The google GBA BIOS and save it to your SD card. Then download the ROM and also save it to your SD card. That's it, now just open up GameBoid, and it will ask you to browse to the BIOS and then the ROM.
