    • as in, you know, the soundtrack that plays whenever you're facing a game's boss? I always find myself super excited for that particular moment, because I feel like games put their best foot forward as far as soundtracks go. sometimes I'm a bit let down, other times the boss themes generally get me even more excited than the battle itself.

    so! what's your favourite vg boss theme?

    I have to give a shoutout to Disagea 5 for having an incredible boss theme tbh.

    I will never not sing praises about how criminally underrated the Xenosaga series are, and the boss themes are part of why. I don't quite remember which boss this plays in, but it's still really cool!!

    • oh man. i have a lot. i like the unversed boss theme in birth by sleep. fyrus' theme from twilight princess. magus' theme from chrono trigger, ughhh the theme for fighting the queen of zeal too that's excellent. rivers in the desert from persona 5. dark maker finale from jak 3. shit like all the bosses in mother 3. boss themes are killer man.

    tbh all the boss themes in Xenosaga are great

    this isn't exactly a overall boss theme, as it's only used for this one boss. but my god it's so good. the attack patterns the boss uses sync up perfectly with the music in the background. her attacks follow the beats of the song, and as the pacing of the song picks up, so does the intensity of her attacks.

    Oh shit I forgot Kirby themes. Those are all glorious. King Dedede's in Star Allies is amazing. And well, just every theme in Star Allies is a work of god.

    I don't care how overrated people think this game is, the soundtrack is amazing

    Asgore's battle theme also holds a special place in my heart, I know the more epic songs are in the genocide run, but this gave me chills when I first got to his fight, especially combined with the whole MERCY button-smashing thing.

    hello I am here to drop some more amazing disgaea 5 boss tracks. imo the latter is better than the former; the former is kind of the standard boss theme while the latter is more for the stronger bosses in the game.

    • Not even reading the replies, FF6's The Decisive Battle immediately came to mind. Sephiroth's boss theme in FF7 and Roxas's boss theme in KH2:FM also have that oomph factor. Will read replies after posting this to reminisce on themes I completely forgot to mention, but those three are notable enough to be remembered off the top of my head.

    Edit: Oh man, I can't believe I forgot about Undertale! Hopes and Dreams is amazing, and pretty much every other track from that game. Even the unused non-genocide Sans battle track.
