If I recall correctly, in past interviews/AMAs, Rebecca Sugar stated Beach City was inspired by childhood trips her family took to Delaware beaches. (I'm too lazy to dig up these sources, but I'm sure an internet search can give you answers if you want confirmation.)

The one from last bomb yeah. It's still new enough to be considered new, right? Aha. Didn't see the extended one yet. My boyfriend thinks it's "too much" (kind of like a bad fanfiction he says) and that makes me a little sad. :( But so far he's been liking this bomb more than the previous. ♥

Really liking your fanart too. I love the style of the smaller gems like Ruby and Sapphire so once my art muse comes back to me they'll be the first two I draw.

Thoughts on Onion Friend:

ARGH! This episode made Onion even creepier! The mouse was in his mouth the whole time?! I guess we know his entire family history now, too. I'm still convinced he'll grow up to be a serial killer or something. AT least Steven got a G.A.L. out of it. Not that I don't sort of get why Onion is the way he is--he's probably sequestered, and his dad is rarely home, and his mother had a rough relationship. I still feel really freaked out by him, though.

It's nice to see Amethyst getting a lot more screen time and appreciation in general. It's about time, and I'm glad someone in-show feels inspired by her. I didn't realize that the Gems had other human friends, but it makes sense hat Amethyst would be the one to have one.

I finally caught up! But without spoiling anything, I think after watching a certain episode this week, I believe I need to make a mental count of how many times I think "Goddamit Pearl".

Sardoynx = Best Fusion. There is no refuting it. I LOVE her. That theatrical personality and sophisticated manner with that voice is probably my favorite in the entire series (even though Ruby and Sapphire are close seconds).

Onion is 2gud4u. I love him even more now. :) Vadalerie, if that's how you spell it, seemed very interesting and I can't wait to see more of her character in the future. Rebecca is finally giving Amethyst more love. It makes me so happy to see her develop <3.

I loved this episode cause it gave some nice character development stuff for amethyst, she reconnected with an old friend who made her realize she's loved by others and her being told that she's inspiring and all that just made my heart swell up!!

Onion Friend

I don't really have a lot to say about this ep. Onion was a total weirdo as usual. Wtf was up with him showing a video of his birth to Steven?! Even I, at 21 years old, have still yet to see something like that even for educational purposes! x'D More importantly, it was good to see Amethyst has a friend outside the Crystal Gems that is inspired by her and whom she can talk to.

Historical Friction

I wish we could have seen the real Giant Woman! I'm hoping we will in a future episode. I'm guessing it was the fusion depicted in the temple statue, but am uncertain since the play silhouette had only 4 arms, whereas the statue has 8. Also, perhaps this painting from that one previous episode in Greg's garage could be a depiction of William Dewey's arrival to Beach City?

Hehe it was cute to see Pearl acting like that one parent who yells "That's my baby!" during a school play when Steven said his first line. xD
I have to say I quite liked Jamie in this episode. I was neutral to him prior to this episode. Jamie knows what's up in regards to good storytelling. His impressions of Pearl and Garnet were also amusing.
I feel the message of this episode was good, especially in regards to this story arc. Real people have flaws, a good character struggles, and watching a character struggle makes for a much better story than if a character is never wrong. It's unfortunate some parts of the fandom don't understand this, but such is life.

Bracing myself for the next episode tomorrow!

Onion Friend

Omg I didn't expect that. I took the preview literally - that Onion had some weird obsession with Amethyst - but that wasn't the case at all. He's so weird yet so cute. Was opening his mouth and showing Steven the mouse supposed to be a way to make him feel better that it didn't get eaten? Don't understand him at all. First he steals Steven's things then he offers to give Steven some of his own. Make up your mind! Are you nice or not. :(

Amethyst and Vidalia's friendship is so great. They can tell each other anything and I'm glad knowing Amethyst has such a great and compassionate friend.

It's unfortunate some parts of the fandom don't understand this, but such is life.

I've been noticing that the fandom seems to suddenly turn on characters just because they're flawed, but then that same fandom loves villainous characters. It's weird.

Well, now we now that is the temple fusion. I wish we could have seen her, too. :/ Steven is actually quite good at acting!

Overall, though, I'm getting annoyed at the filler episodes. This story arc is killing me, so I want it to be resolved ASAP.

Peridot is the biggest freaking dork in the (Steven) Universe and I cannot get enough of her haha.

You are tearing me apart, Steven Universe! Here I am, more invested in a TV show than I've ever been, and I go to your behind-the-scenes blog and I find staff-created Lapis/Jasper yuri and Peridot manipulating the gems in a chess game, with Pearl and the others looking upset and scared while Lapis and Jasper are already out of the game? Why must you taunt me so?!

Because the gems are in school uniforms, it reminds me of those scenes in anime where they're preparing for a school play for one of those school festivals or something.

That picture is so cute! Sapphire and Rose, aw.

Thoughts on Friend Ship:

Poor Pearl, failing at everything in the beginning. As Ivysaur said, I'm glad she's finally making baby steps toward recovery. Overall, I expected some horrible thing to happen in this episode, but only good things happened! 0_0 Pearl begins to recover, they steal Peridot's foot, they can track her now, and all the gems other than Pearl were fighting amazingly well. I'm not sure whether to feel ecstatic or a little let down.

I'm glad that somebody finally just laid out all of Pearl's problems and told her she can do better. I also agree with Lisia that it's implied that pearls are servants. I find it really sad that Pearl feels empty inside without someone big and strong, and Garnet was spot-on telling her that Pearl doesn't need her, Steven, or Rose with her to be complete.

As Amethyst said, Steven was especially on fire! It's great to see him fight alongside all the gems, not just one (like in Keeping It Together). Also, props for him throwing the shield like Captain America.

Now I guess it's confirmed that Peridot's fingers are her actual weapon. I find myself being really horrified every time she shows up, but now that the gems are stronger she seems like slightly less of a threat. Still, I have a feeling she'll put a much larger plan into action later on. Her comical personality was a great choice on the writers' part.

I'm laughing at that Lapis/Jasper art. The style looks like it was ripped straight out of an old school shoujo manga. xD

Lol I can't even take Peridot seriously as a villain anymore. xD Not sure if this will be good or not in the long run. I'm positive she's actually ruthless but so far her failing antics have been comparable to Team Rocket or the like. Looks like Peridot's blasting off agaaaain!
I'm still rooting for Pearl! So glad Garnet finally talked about how much the Sardonyx incident troubled her and how she has weaknesses too. Pearl needed to hear that she's looked to as a source of strength, too. ;w;
Pearl's comment about "I'm just a Pearl... I need someone to tell me what to do!" seems to be further hinting toward that fan headcanon that Pearls were created as a servant class back on Homeworld. As Ivysaur said, today seems to be Pearl's first step toward better self-esteem. :)

Happy to have Jamie back. Their play was pretty silly and I loved Pearl's changes to the script, made it so much more worthwhile and was fun to watch aha. Overall a great breather episode compared to the rest but it was still pretty darn amazing. Aaand Jamie got to move forward with his acting hobby, you go. 8]

I love Garnet. She has her flaws too and that's what makes her so.. so wonderful as a character and so great to watch. Thank you, you amazing gem for telling Pearl what everyone's been wanting to tell her. She needed to realize that she was her own gem and had move forward on her own without depending on others. Great step forward towards improving her self-esteem.

Peridot is so insane I love it. adfghs didn't think she'd detach her foot to escape but that's just like her in the end.

I've also been really happy with Amethyst lately. She's not as obnoxious about anything and is a lot calmer; definitely much more enjoyable as a character now that she's not recklessly doing things and constantly acting in ways that would annoy others.

I LOVE PERIDOT SO MUCH OH MY GOD i read a theory about how shes probably a very young gem seeing how shes very immature and she doesnt seem to know how her powers work yet, and i love that so much! Im glad garnet and pearl made up and that amethyst is getting more mature as well. ALSO STEVEN IS GETTING SO STRONG!!

I also drew my gemsona again and i finalized her design! I'm very happy with the outcome so i wanted to share it with you!
