Ridiculous GTS Requests

I don't know if this is talked about much, but I've noticed that people want so much for so little in the GTS in XY/ORAS. It makes it hard for people finishing their dex to get the little things they need. What are some of the most outrageous GTS requests you've seen and why do you think people do it? Why do people ask for mews and only offer zubats? Do they honestly think somebody will give them what they want for so little in return? Discuss!

They think it happens because it does happen, from time-to-time.

Some of the more hardcore hacking and/or breeding crowd can churn out some absolutely ridiculous 'Mons, but- for various reasons; IV spread not up to par, wrong Nature, wrong Ability, or they simply only wanted it to fill the Dex, but figure that they'll never actually use it- and so they just trade it away.

Of course, it's rather rare- usually a pipe dream. But you never know unless you try.

Naturally, it is annoying to see so much clutter. Whenever I throw up trade fodder, I try to at least assure that it's not something completely useless. I'll get wild 'mons from the endgame, maybe teach them some fun TMs or give them an amusing nickname, and go check for IVs and mark them.

I've been seeing quite a lot. I always see Zigzagoon or Wurmple for a legendary Pokémon like Darkrai or Arceus. I'll never understand why people do that when they know they won't get what they're looking for.

The GTS is full of good stuff, you just have to know how to get it. Main problem with requests is, that there's a hugh competition going on between people who look for reasonable requests. Since there are a lot of people looking for ways to get more entries in their Pokedex, every time someone makes a good request, it won't be there for long. What remains are either give-aways, kids who see those give-away request and think they can get good stuff for free, or those occasional trolls who feel great by disruption other people's GTS experience.

In either way, when I was completing my Pokedex, I made heaving use of the GTS and was pretty successful at that. However, in order to do so, I gave up on looking for request pretty quickly and focused more on making reasonable requests, myself, which worked out quite nicely.

I personally find some of the ridiculous GTS requests funny. Seeing people offer level 1 Zigzagoon's or Biddof's for an Arceus.

It's incredibly frustrating for me when 90% of requests are totally outrageous. I just wish people would be logical and fair and actually make decent trade requests.

Sometimes I wonder if the requests they make are either real and actually seeking certain illegal Pokémon or if they're trying to clone something.

I've used the GTS to move items around between my X, Y and OmegaRuby files before. Usually I'll put up a supposedly rarely-searched Pokemon for a tradeable legendary. Usually works, but...

I've actually lost a Slurpuff holding a Destiny Knot to a Terrakion before.

I have like... four Terrakions now.

Ah yes, the hard times when I was looking at GTS to complete the National Dex. I needed only few of them but that took me lots of time, because of people with ridiculous requests.

Well, since I dont have Pokebank, the way I transfer Pokemon from Y to Omega Ruby is to catch a useless pokemon and ask for one of my valuables for it so that I know it wont get taken before I can complete the trade..maybe some other people do that as well?

I mean sure, I know that's something people do, but I just can't believe that there are that many people that are doing it and especially when its useless crap that they're putting up and asking for good stuff. Like I've seen where somebody put a lvl 5 in asking for a lvl100 of the same Pokémon or something like that. Or people throwing zigagoons in and asking for huge things. And its not a small amount of people doing it. Its basically every person in the gts. Like for the people that are doing what you explained, yeah that's fine, I don't mind, but I just don't believe its that many people. Especially when their message is "shiny plz!!!" Or something like that.
