    Land of Treasures

    History
Uzuri has a long and fabled history that spans many centuries.

The oldest mention of the continent of Uzuri is found in a Kantonese log book: "Today we lost four ships in the waters around what we have named the Uzuzuri continent. We previously thought this area was not populated but our boats were ambushed by a very organized armada of ships that were later seen sailing into a cove found on Yzenn. We will be sending a larger group of ships to investigate and hopefully take back what was stolen." As history progressed the once hidden kingdom of Yzenn grew increasingly aggressive over the next twenty years. They left their main stronghold on the western island and conquered the neighboring eastern island. They soon took over strongholds on the outlying islands and made several raids on neighboring continents in preparation of full scale invasions.

However Yzenn suddenly disappears from history books and isn't mentioned again. It isn't until modern times that it was discovered that a series of unfortunate events brought down the Yzenn kingdom: a massive hurricane destroyed most of their armada, a civil war weakened the Royal Family's control on the people and disease killed most of the crops. A mass exodus of the people shortly followed and the Yzennese dynasty died out with Queen Isadora six centuries ago.

Over the next six hundred years Uzuri was left to the Pokemon alone. The old cities deteriorated and disappeared. Most traces of any human life were lost to time. The continent served mostly as a hideout for pirates running from the authorities. The most famous pirate to call Uzuri "home" was the fabled Green Gyarados. He commanded five ships and stole some of the most precious treasures known to the world in his time. Upon his capture on the shores of Uzuri he declared he had hidden most of his treasure along with a map of every location in various locations around the continent. It's because of this declaration that you can find a high number of treasure hunters and thrill seekers scouring all of Uzuri for any trace of his treasure.

What is now known as modern Uzuri was founded nearly two hundred years ago. The last major Kanto-Johto conflict was raging and war time refugees were looking for a new place to call home. After sailing around the world for several months their ship landed on the shores of a small island outside of Uzuri. Liking what they had found, the people were soon building a small settlement of their own. After several years of flourishing in their new location a small group of people set out to explore the great continent nearby. They discovered the ruins of Ydenn and realized there was much more to what they had named Uzuri than they thought.

Other small settlements had also been built on the continent by other groups of people who had stumbled upon Uzuri. This first contact between them set up the foundation of what is now modern Uzuri. Trading soon followed and a central government of sorts was established. Word of the lush environments and opportunities found on Uzuri started to draw in people from around the world. The small towns spread across Uzuri soon blossomed into major cities. A Pokemon League followed and Uzuri was accepted into the National Pokemon League seventy years ago. Its population now rivals that of Unova and Kalos. It now seems that Uzuri has moved past its warmongering history and into a true mecca of the Pokemon world!

    Culture
There isn't a real set "culture" of Uzuri. Because of its relatively young age it really depends on where you are currently on the continent. There are several general foundations of Uzurian culture however. The Western Island has an harsher environment than the Eastern Island. This has caused the people who call it home to be more aloof and come off as coldhearted. The Eastern Island's people are more laid back and open to visitors.

Defacing an ancient ruin is very taboo. They are closely watched by agents of the government and only those permitted may remove any item from the sites.

    Locations

Silkwood Island is where the first inhabitants of modern Uzuri landed. The people were drawn here by the old, dilapidated lighthouse found on its shores. The people who live here are quiet and keep to themselves. Their population is small and they all consider one another family. Most help maintain the breeding center they built inside of the old lighthouse. The rest spend their time fishing or working in the nearby berry fields. Houses in this town are built from old driftwood and sand. Most of the people who live here very rarely wear shoes and some don't even wear shirts.

Silkwood Beach is located just outside of the main town. It is world renowned for its white sands and the deep emerald color of the water found there. A natural grove of reeds forms a natural barrier between the town and the beach. A small motel was built here by an eccentric old woman and her son. The Pokemon who live here are very used to humans and are very friendly. Some will even do tricks that they've been taught by the old lady for treats.

Coutel Town is a short boat ride south from Silkwood Island. The town was founded by a former resident of Silkwood who got into a fight with his brother and decided to build a home of his own on the main island instead. It soon expanded in size with his family. It boasts the smallest harbor in Uzuri. Its main draw for visitors are its world famous sushi shops. It also houses a shop that builds very intricate fountains out of the marble found in the nearby rock quarry.
Coutel Town Gym possesses a simple layout. Its main focus is the large statue of Kyogre at its center. The gym is the home of Okeana. She was once an Elite Four member on another continent but moved to Uzuri after her retirement. She now runs a dance school for children and trains them in Pokemon battle. These kids serve as her Gym Trainers. You must defeat them all before she'll face you in battle.

Saltrock Mountain is a large mountain that serves as a natural barrier between Coutel Town and the rest of the eastern Uzuri. At one time it was used as a major salt mine. As the supply of salt disappeared so did the interest in maintaining the mine so the caverns were left to the Pokemon. The stalagmites here mysteriously glow and provide light for those traveling in the cave. The temperature in the cave is at least fifty degrees cooler than outside at all times. This has caused the bottom level of the mountain to become frozen over and home to numerous rare Ice-type Pokemon!

Foulard City is found on the opposite side of Saltrock Mountain. It is the third largest city in Uzuri. It is very industrial in nature and the city's focus is mostly on the numerous factories it houses. The city is constantly covered in a layer of smog. This forces some inhabitants walking around in masks. Foulard makes its mark in the world of manufacturing. Most of the factories found in Foulard are owned by a single family. They are rumored to have dark connections and do some of their business in the seedy underbelly of Uzuri. The only factory within Foulard's borders not owned by the "family" is run by a man named Carnegie. He runs the Uzuri branch of the Silph Co. Pokeball Factory. He also runs a gym in the next door building! He can be unintentionally rude to others but is a good man at heart.
Foulard City Gym serves as a generator of sorts for the next door Pokeball factory. The challenger must turn elevators on or off that allow them to progress to the next level of the factory. The employees found in the factory also serve as the gym trainers. Carnegie can be found on the top floor in his office where he also holds his gym battles.

Suncloak Path is a quaint, sunny path that offers relief from the pollution of nearby Foulard City. Large sunflowers line the main road here. There is also a retirement community built on this path. The elderly people here grow restless and are often itching for a battle. They also take care of the wild Pokemon who call this route their home.

Kimono Bay is the largest port city found on the eastern coast of Uzuri. Looming over the city is the large but dormant volcano called Mt. Peril. The volcano was quelled by the first inhabitants of Kimono Bay. They brought with them a medallion bearing a phoenix-like Pokemon that gives the wielder control over fire. The people of Kimono Bay are very solemn and keep to themselves for the most part. Variations from daily routines are frowned upon and those who stray from the norm are often ostracized. Ships land in the city's harbor daily and the sailors that depart from them keep the shoreline hotels frenzied.
The Ninja Hideout found beneath the streets of Kimono Bay was built about a century ago. It is the base of operations for a group of ninjas who take jobs all around the world. They are often contracted to steal, kidnap, spy and many other shady activities. They have been at war for control of Kimono Bay with the Gym Leader for the last five years. If there is discord to be found in Uzuri then you'll more than likely find a Kimono Bay ninja pulling the strings behind the scenes.

Kimono Bay Gym is found on the largest ship in the harbor. It is a magnificent piece of craftsmanship. Challengers must swing on ropes, walk planks and fire cannons to reach the Gym Leader: a magnificent man named Redbeard. He is a jovial former pirate who is fiercely protective of Kimono Bay. He is the current possessor of the Phoenix Medallion that keeps Mt. Peril dormant. His gym trainers are his former crew.

Velvetine Forest is found down a small dirt path from Kimono Bay. The trees here are covered in pink leaves and the moss that grows here emits a sweet scent. This is the reason people have nicknamed this area the "Cotton Candy Woods." Despite its sweet appearance the forest is actually quite dangerous to explore. The Pokemon here are tricky and will often lead trainers down the wrong path on purpose. The trees block out sunlight leaving areas of the forest dark nearly twenty four hours a day. There are strange carvings in some of the trees that make them appear to have faces. Spooky laughs and sinister wails will sometimes pierce the eerie silence. Definitely not a place to bring the children.

The Witch's Hamlet is a hidden village tucked deep inside of the Velvetine Forest. It is home to a group of people who have lived in Uzuri since the days of the Old Kingdom. They consider themselves protectors of the woods and will fiercely defend it from encroaching outsiders. They possess the keys to many of the secrets of Uzuri.
The Grand Bee Hive is the main location that people believe the Green Gyarados hid his treasure inside of. The hive is led by a terrifying queen and the Pokemon inside are very aggressive. Honey oozes everywhere. Not a place for the faint hearted.

Nylon City is where you will find yourself if you manage to navigate your way out of the Velvetine Forest. It is a vibrant, lively city that offers a stark contrast to its sister city Kimono Bay. There is always something going on in Nylon City. Whether its a festival or a Pokemon Tournament, you will never be bored in Nylon City! Though the city has no Pokemon Gym it is not lacking in sites to see. The National Uzuri Museum can be found here. The Pokemon Fan Club calls Nylon its home and so does the region's bike shop. Not bad for the second largest city in Uzuri!

The Nylon Laboratory is home to the region's Pokemon expert: Professor Cotton. He is a very wealthy man who was born in Unova but made Nylon City his home. The S.S. Bamboo is the premier cruise liner in Uzuri. It is captained by an eccentric sailor named Ruth. It makes a round trip around the coast of Uzuri once a week. It really captures the partying spirit of Nylon on its decks. Vendors on the boat sell rare items not found anywhere in Uzuri. Always try to find it in any of the port towns for a chance to find a rare item!
Mousseline Town is found on the southern point of the eastern island of Uzuri. It can only be reached by boat as its blocked on all sides by the Tweed Mountains. The S.S. Bamboo often makes port here since its Ruth's hometown. It serves mostly climbers who are preparing to explore the peaks of the nearby mountains. A family of move tutors can be found here who take shards as payment.
The other main draw to Mousseline Town is the Uzuri National Newspaper Headquarters. By helping the reporters who work here you may learn valuable information about locations of treasure or even earn some rewards from them for completing their tasks.
The Tweed Mountain Range takes up the southern part of the region. Here the temperature is slightly colder than the rest of the region due to being farther from the equator and the higher elevation. It is the least populated area of Uzuri. The Pokemon here are rough around the edges but have been known to rescue those in trouble. It very rarely snows here but the cold wind burns the face of those unprepared for it.

Parka City is a strange presence in the mountains. It started off as a small rest stop for travelers making their way through the Tweed Mountains. It eventually grew into a trade post town and grew in population. However, near the end of the Old Kingdom, a disease swept through the town and wiped out all of the townspeople. Strangely a few years after the town was wiped out the seemingly dead townspeople began to appear once again. They went about their lives like nothing happened. They didn't realize they had died and appeared again as ghosts. Because of this the town has a spooky aura to it. The ghosts are friendly however and help travelers making their way. Living people, those fascinated by the supernatural, have also moved into town and live in harmony with their dead neighbors.
The Ancient Library is the primary reason people come to visit Parka City. This library has been around since the founding of the town. It has gone into a state of disrepair because the librarian is a ghost now but some human volunteers have tried to keep it slightly tidy. Ancient texts can be found inside but most are written in a long lost language. Pokemon also call the library home!

Parka City Gym is a dilapidated old mansion on the outskirts of town. Despite its appearance it is actually the newest building in town. Inside the rooms are covered in cobwebs and dust. There's more to him than meets the eye.

Houndstooth City is an adult vacationer's paradise. There are hotels galore found here along with theaters, restaurants and even a super casino! The town is relatively new in comparison to the other cities in Uzuri. The entire city is built into the cliff side. A hot spring is found underneath the city and warms the inside of the buildings naturally by running through the walls.
The Tesla Casino is the main draw of Houndstooth City. It was built by the legendary showgirl Tesla. The top floors are all luxurious hotel rooms. The second floor is a spa for humans and Pokemon alike. But the main floor is a massive casino. There are games galore to play and great, rare prizes to win! Tesla is a big softie so no Pokemon prizes though!
Houndstooth City Gym is adjacent to the Tesla Casino. It is a premier opera and acting house and features the best actors in the world. When a challenger enters they begin a play of sorts where the trainer is the protagonist of the story and the gym trainers are the villains. After "vanquishing" them all you come up against the big baddie herself. Out of character Carmen is Tesla's kind older sister and partner in business. But in character no one is more ruthless.

Tweed Mountains Cable Car is a luxurious way of getting down the northside of the western Tweed Mountains. It offers a nice bed to relax in, a waiter service and more!
Khaki Town is found at the foot of the mountains. The people who live here mostly work on the Cable Car but they also serve as guides for the nearby desert. The Draco Meteor move tutor can be found living here.
The Khaki Desert is a brutal habitat that spans across most of the central area of Uzuri. The desert does not experience many sandstorms like other deserts found in the Pokemon universe. Instead it is barraged by a constant heat storm with the occasionally rain storm to break up the monotony. Only the brave make the trek across the desert. Most people have taken to taking a ship to the northern part of the island to avoid it. Those who like a little adventure and treasure hunting take the trip though! There are also several amazing landmarks to visit in the desert.

The Spaceship Temple is the main draw to the Khaki Desert. Its age predates the Old Kingdom but much like the Great Bridge no one is sure of its origins. There is advanced technology found inside that humans still haven't been able to decipher. Most of the Pokemon found inside are considered "foreign" in origin. People have flocked to the spaceship as a temple of sorts and live there. It constantly emits a strange humming noise.

There is a playground for children and small Pokemon alike. Several cafes serve the finest foods and drinks in the city! A Merry Go Round provides some peaceful entertainment. Suede Jungle is by far the most dangerous area in all of Uzuri. The Pokemon are highly aggressive, poison clouds pollute the air and there are dead ends at every turn. Constant rain storms beat down on the jungle and sometimes it is so humid it is hard to breathe. Green Gyarados was said to have made a map detailing every treasure he hid in the jungle and then burying the map somewhere himself. Ruins can be found all around the jungle that are slowly being overtaken by the plant life. Beware when journeying into this jungle!

Milliskin Town is a small town on the eastern border of the Suede Jungle. It houses the Uzuri Oceanic Museum that details the history of seafarers in the country. It also has a nice harbor for exploring the inner Uzuri Bay. The town is built mostly from pieces of old abandoned ships. This gives the town a nice, rustic feel.
Uzuri Bay is a deep sea treasure hunter's paradise. The Old Kingdom built a whole city on the surface of the ocean. It was a beautiful, wondrous place until it was sunk during a horrible hurricane. Now it lays across the bay in pieces with its many treasures hidden away. There are also sunken ships and other fun places to get into!

The Sunken City's name has been lost to history but its other secrets have not. Tides have separated the city into three distinct parts: the Sunken Palace, the Sunken Towers and the Sunken Harbor. Each has its own unique places to explore and treasures to find! It is said a legendary Pokemon now calls the Sunken Palace its home. This is why its impossible to get inside of the throne room at the moment.
Mt. Peril is found on the western coast of the eastern island. It is a massive volcano that has been laid dormant by human interference. In its heyday it erupted at least once a year and it is thought to be the reason for Uzuri's existence. This is due to the fact that most of the dirt in the region contains some traces of soot in it. Exploring Mt. Peril is still treacherous because lava still flows inside of it. So caution is advised before entering it.

Osnaburg City is found a short distance from Mt. Peril's base. It was once the village that sprang up around the Old Kingdom's castle. It has been demolished and rebuilt many times but the values of the inhabitants hasn't changed. They still revere the power of the old castle and protect it at all costs. The farmland is best around Osnaburg and this is how they mostly make their income. The houses are mostly one story ranch houses built from wood. The roads are dirt and the technology scarce.
The Ancient Castle was once a magnificent palace that housed the royal family of the Old Kingdom. It was expanded many times. This is why it features different architectural styles depending on what wing you're standing in. Ghosts are said to wander the hallways. The Pokemon that wander its halls are descendants of those owned by the royal family. The outside shimmers in the sunlight like a pearl. Jewels adorn the doorways, the floors and anywhere else you can stick a gem. There are hidden passages galore and traps for greedy hunters. Many consider this palace one of the seven Manmade Wonders of the World!

Osnaburg City Gym is found in a massive greenhouse at the center of town. It was built for the Gym Leader by her father. The Gym Leader, Elizabeth, is a descendant of the royal family. Though they possesses no title, she carries herself like a princess and expects to be treated like one. She trains vicious Bug-types because in her own words "no one messes with a pretty girl with a monster behind her!"
    GYM LEADER - Elizabeth
    PRIZE - TM81 (X-Scissor)
    PRINCESS BADGE
    TEAM - Flygon | Armaldo | Heracross | Vespiquen | Venomoth
Fleece Road is a simple, straight forward road from Osnaburg to Cloak City. Farms are found on both sides. This is the last tranquil road found in Uzuri. The Pokemon are lazy and often found sleeping peacefully on the side of the road. Eighty percent of all food consumed in Uzuri is produced on this road.

Cloak City is a scientist's dream city. On every corner there is a different sort of lab. You can find things hospitals and technology research and even Pokemon research. The roads give you directions as you walk on them. Robot servants wait on you at every turn. A dome over the city helps climate control. There are very few people not involved in the sciences that don't live here.
The Porygon Laboratory is a located in a little run down building on the outskirts of town. The scientists who work here were the first to invent the Porygon program but their idea was stolen by a spy and released by Silph Co. first. Now they instead tinker with the old program and have fixed the problems with Galactic's illegal Porygon-Z program!

Cloak City Gym also serves as the premier hospital in the Uzuri region. The doctors who work here are also some of the best trainers in the region. The gym leader is a brilliant woman named named Ana. She rules the hospital with an iron fist and is a brilliant trainer who would probably be a member of the Elite Four if she wasn't committed to her work at the hospital.
    Gym Leader - Ana
    Prize - TM90 (Substitute)
    Hospital Badge

Victory Road is a short trip away by sea from Cloak City. Much like the Victory Roads of other region this one features tough trainers, crazy twists and turns and powerful wild Pokemon! This road once served as a natural barrier to the prison kept in Zephyr Tower. It is said the last kind of the Old Kingdom got lost in the caves while trying to reach his wife in the prison and died. So it is rumored his ghost haunts the caves.

Zephyr Tower is a former prison tower that now houses the Elite Four of Uzuri! It is an imposing figure when viewed from a far. It tilts slightly but still gives a sturdy, strong impression. The Elite Four are to be challenged in order. The Champion stays in the room where the last Queen of the Old Kingdom was housed after she was deposed.

    Uzuri ; Land of Treasures

    *MEGA STONE DISCOVERY*

As you may know Uzuri is a land of many hidden treasures. Explorers are constantly finding new and amazing treasures at every turn in the region! And you could be a member of the newest wave of discoverers!

This contest will be designing a new Mega Evolution! A picture isn't necessary! Pick a Pokemon that doesn't have a Mega Evolution yet and go wild! What we need is a stone name, a new ability, maybe a new typing and a new stat spread! Remember that Mega Evolutions see a 100 point increase over its base form! My philosophy is no Mega Evolution can be too broken!
