Yes I agree at the serie need new proganist and I was thinking about the proganist could choice his/her first pokemon and leave on Journey after that.
Douring the Journey she/he Would meet other characther so join him/her and later in the episode she/he Would fall in love with one Of the companyon and start dating him/her and maybey the serie could have rivalty to where the other companyon try to win over proganist boyfriend/girlfriend and eventuel Would end opp in battle where the proganist first pokemon evolve and after that the proganist Would win the battle and the other companyon Would leave and the proganist Would only travel with his/her boyfriend/girlfriend and maybey seprate later on.
Of course the prognanist could collect badges, Join pokemon contenst or attend pokemon show.

--- 11) Goodra permanently return to Ash.

---12) Ash finally catching " A Giant Pokemon" that can carry him on his head.

---13) Introduce A Mid-Tsundere version of Rosa as Ash's prime Love-interest Or Use Dawn as Ash's main love interest since she has the look and dynamic chemistry with Ash.

---14) Or create a mysterious Oujo-sama (lady) with incredible Beauty , knowledge and influence around the world who play a major role in the villainous ark and act as Ash's main love interest.

---15) Or Ash falling for a girl and trying to impress her while she is totally oblivious about his feeling and often friendzone him (IMPOSSIBLE)

---16) Ash training under an E4 member or Champion like Alder to take down a very strong trainer who trying to destroy the world.

---17) A Pokemon league that hold the fate of the Universe.

---18) Ash winning the Kalo league and move to the next step

Following A Specific plotline to make the anime like this--

They try that during "Best Wishs" which happen to be the worst Pokemon Series.
Team Rocket weren't suppose to be serious villain , They suppose to be Stupid Good Guys trying to be Bad.
Like the Ice King (Adventure Time) or Keroro (Sgt Frog).

Unless Romance is use for Humor and Competition.

Atleast its much better then Ash traveling an entire region for nothing while all his development and improvement goes down to drain.

More rival like Trip , Cameron, Tirno and Shota will make the show boring.
We need real rival that get on Ash's nerve and challenge his limit.

u may be right about all this exept one thing ash is the best
and nothing is gonna be better than him even an anime following the manga

Ash actually winning a league would be lovely. It might not make the anime perfect, but it would be a perfect ending.

...failing that, I'd settle for James crossdressing again, even if for no other reason than "We need a convincing disguise, and, wow, don't I make, like, the coooooooolest girl?"

    Here is a question--
Why its Okay for Red (Origin) and Alain to be Sooooooo Strong that only a E4 member can match up to him But Ash has to be a Weakling that gets his ass kicked by Rockies & Kindergarten Teacher???
A trash like Trip win the entire Junior Cup without taking a single hit But its Bad idea if Ash win another Junior Cup to get his Mega-ring.
Does Ash has to be weak so we can throw our crap at him ??
Another reason XY Series is boring because Ash didn't battle and beat anyone interesting except for Gym-leader and Nami.
So far , Ash just beaten bunch of newbies like Tirno or Shota!
Even Alain battled more interesting trainer then Ash did.
While Ash get his ass kicked by Astrid ! After all , The score of the entire battle was Ash : 1 & Astrid :2 .
What will make the Anime Perfect --
---Ash beating the crap out of trainer even more interesting then Alain's opponent and not a Gym-leader !!!

the answer is coz if red lost many times he starts over while ash has only one chance so red could've lost many times b4 the match showed against the E4

Honestly , Director could stop keeping Ash as an Underdog in excuse of creating Interesting story.
The Biggest problem of Pokemon Anime is Writers unwillingness to move forward with Ash . They tries to keep Ash as a Underdog so they can't come up with better story that require Ash to MOVE FORWARD.
So , If Writers doesn't change their mentality then a New Atmosphere will not work.
The Pokemon Writers need to learn "Writing" from "Avatar : Legend of Korra"!
As you know , Korra already knew 3 bending while Aang started with 1 bending .
Plus , Korra learn Energy Bending and control "Avatar state" at Episode 12 But that doesn't mean The series became Boring .
Nope , The series just brought greater crisis and enemy that can't be beaten by just Avatar State or Energy Bending.
So , If Ash still has to remain *D-rank trainer without a Mega-ring and Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon then it not to make the series interesting! It would be because writers & Director's lack the Quality and talent .
A Good Writer will know how to write Interesting without Kicking out Ash's Goodra.
He will also know how to make the story interesting even after Ash wins the Pokemon League and become Champion.
For example : How about Ash goes to next region to find his Missing Father and get involve with Evil team and Legendary Pokemon ???

*D-rank : Trainers who good enough to qualify for Pokemon League but incapable of winning.

Removing Ash But this will not happen.I have other ideas for the writers:

Note: English is not my first language. You may find grammar mistakes.

    1- Give Ash a dad:
Ash needs a dad. How about a trainer and a Professor? Professor Sycamore can do this. A little change will not harm Pokèmon.

    2- Let Ash's mother help:
Every mother should support her child by visiting him, advicing him, telling him about her past experiences, etc
Ash's mother is a forgettable character.

3- N can replace Brock as the old character who takes care of the group (our heroes). He can travel to see the bonds between people and Pokèmon. He can leave Pokèmon with his sisters.
He was an important character of BW. Pokèmon BW was a failed effort to reboot Pokèmon.

4- let Ash enters the Pokèmon contest: To learn new skills. To deep the bonds between him and his Pokèmon.
Then have him battle Dawn or May in the final.

    5- Misty needs to return:
Don't forget her ability to turn into a mermaid in the manga. As a character who dreams to be a water master, she needs this ability. Let it be her secret. A gift from a legendary Pokèmon.

    6- Replace Pikachu:
The next girl can have a Pikachu.
Ash should show his experiences with electric rodent Pokèmon.
    Emolga can replace Pikachu. Why?
It can fly which means new adventures.
It doesn't evolve. People will not complain that it is a weak Pokèmon that needs a thunder stone.

    7- the return of Charizard:
Ash riding Charizard and fighting legendary Pokèmon .....

    8- A mythical type:
A Pokèmon that change dimensions is a water dragon type. But HOW? It has mythical powers not water or dragon powers.

9- Allow Pokèmon to evolve normally without any item or method.
    Pokèmon are not machines.
Also how all Pokèmon can have eggs.

10- Professor Oak should get his original role back:
    In The manga
He is the inventor of the Pokèdex. He is a special Professor. He wants his trainers to find unknown Pokèmon.

    12- A 16 years old protagonist.
Who has enough time to get education (before his journey).
    Who can have a background.
    Who can fall in love.
Who can cook, understand maps, and travel long distance unlike little kids.

Gundam has 16 year old heroes. And it very popular.

13- wining a Pokèmon league should be the beginning to more challenging adventures.

14- Ash to teach others the basics of Pokèmon.

15- Add robots to Pokèmon as assistants. Remember when the Pokèdex showed advanced capabilities in the first episodes..

    16- Team Rockets:

To be: thieves wearing black uniform, code names , masks, holding whips, using metal cages to capture Pokèmon and working for an unknown boss.
See the grunts in the original game (red, green and blue.
Or Watch Detective Conan. The black organisation uses code names.

    To be continued. ...

I think the anime has to have Pokemon have their correct heights. Just look at Trevor and his Charmeleon.

What would make the anime perfect?
See that in the corner? Trevor's about the same height as his Charmeleon. But the PokeDex says Charmeleon is 3 feet 7 inches, or a little over a meter. Let's assume Trevor is about the same age as Ash and Serena; around 10 years old. Seriously? A ten year old that's 3' 7''? Similar with Ash's Glalie, Drew's Roselia, etc.

It's worth noting that there are Pokemon both in the anime and in the games that don't match their height in the Pokedex. Their heights can vary quite a bit, so that Charmeleon doesn't necessarily have to be 3'7". I remember in the games the heights for Heracross and Magikarp can be almost double their species average, and there were quite a few Magikarp and Heracross that were shorter than normal, and in the anime there was a 20' Charizard.

But back on topic... well I haven't watched the anime since Diamond and Pearl came out, and before that I only watched a few episodes from the OG. And to be honest, I'm not really that interested in the show as is. But it's certainly not beyond fixing, and there are some improvements that might actually have me interested. Those improvements would be:

    1. Ash and Pikachu actually getting anywhere. They started out seeking Pokemon mastership and have barely gotten any closer since they left home. This is because neither of them have really changed any since the beginning, and while in a normal show Ash would have beat a couple leagues by now and Pikachu would have hit the level cap, but for some reason neither of them have really gotten any stronger. Not even Ash's age has changed; he's still the same age after all this time.

    2. Actually having characters around for more than one season, or at the very least not having them drop off the face of the earth once Ash leaves. It's fine to have characters leave after a while, but the anime has so many characters that only appear for a season and then just vanish when Ash leaves is ridiculous. With Pokemon it's especially egregious because they leave as much as the humans do and there's less reason for it. Sure there's Pokemon that have a good reason to leave the party but what about all those Pokemon besides Pikachu that Ash catches and just leaves to rot in a PC box unless one of them has an evolution that can be showcased? There's not really a lot of reason for that aside from showing new Pokemon off, but if even they will eventually be shelved forever there's just no point. Same deal with the human characters; no matter how interesting they may be, almost all of them will be unceremoniously shelved to make room for new characters, and we will never know if they suceeded in their dreams or not. For me at least there's just no point in watching, specifically because of this reason and the first one.

    3. Occasionally rotate protaginists. While Ash and Pikachu are certainly good protagonists, would it kill the writers to make someone else the leader for once? At least for a little while it would be cool if the focus was on another character, and they could always rotate back to Ash. Speaking of that guy;

    4. Why does Ash always have to be the hero? My expertise lies more with the movies which may or may not be canon, but there's only so many times you can save the world from certain doom as a normal 10 year old with an electric mouse before it strains plausibility. Ok, he stopped Mewtwo. That's ok. He stopped the flooding of the world with the aid of a huge deep sea wyvern and was prophesized to do so. Cool, in the games 10 year olds do that all the time. But this guy has been the main hero in almost every movie I've seen, and it's really stretching into marty stu territory. In the anime it's probably worse, but I've not really watched in a really long time so I can't verify that.

    5. This last one is really minor, but it still needs to be said: why hasn't Ash caught a legendary yet? There's more than one of a lot of legendaries in the anime, and in Movie 12 (I think?) Giratina was best buds with him. Guy's been to several regions with legendaries in them, and has proven to be excellent at befriending Pokemon. He should have caught at least one by now.

Perfect? Well there is no such thing as perfect anime or anything in life. You can strive to reach such kind of position and state, but there will be always left room for improvement. Making things better than they are searching for eays to go beyond yoiur limits reaching new level. In this case being applied to wriuting in literature, narrative.

But could Pokemon anime be improved and better compared to now?

    Without any doubt.

For start formula of pokemon series needs to be changed.

And by that i don't mean replacing Ash and doing reboot as many in here seem to suggest.
Ash is just victim of bad writing stuck in overused cycle of rehashed ideas, bad plot management and only minimum of effort implemented to keep things going.

Improve quality of writing and so will Ash character development improve; pushing him forward making it seem like all those years of traveling brought fruits on table eventually.
Winning league, going through more complex development and bfreaking new grounds in explaining what title of pokemon master entails.

Even if Ash wins one league that wouldn't make him pokemon master. Because afterwards is champion league inckluding battling E4 members and Champion. Being marked as task which would only Ash bring closer tieward master title going by what E4 Lucian in DP saga said.

But it would not make him master.

Since Ash dream involves becoming strongest trainer in world, and not of just one region.

Wreiters could pull of what happened in Beyblade with Tyson or Ginkga adding more dimension to Ash personality . Showing how he would cope with sudden popularity and fame in case of becoming champion. Feeling burden of responsibility and fears of not letting everyone expectation down.

In being expeced that he defends title and wins league in next region as well.

Alongside giving him stronger trainers and bigger obstacles to overcome like Battle Frontier was. In order to become pokemon master.

Such as journey where champions of all regions in pokemon world gathering and fighting between themselves to determine who is best among them all.

Delivering more variety to pokemon adventure, new enterprises waiting there to ber take and more originality injected in pokemon plot.

Another thing which would in my opinion help improve quality of pokemon series is :
-Establishing stable cast with who fans could symphatize and grow attached to. Representing pokemon show without there existing risk of characters we grew to like and care about ending replaced neer to be seen again.

In my opinion writers already have enough great characters to wok with not seeing need that they add even more new characters to count. Id rather prefer if for next series Serena stays or one of older girls rejoins traveling through new land doing follow up from where writers stopped. While reserving third and potential fourth place for new extra female and male companion. Or have Ash, Serena, one of older girls for new adventure.

Preferably Misty should be one to comeback since her dreams of becoming water master and reaching E4 level of strength/reputation were highly unexplored never getting closure, and has many unfinished things in her story ,aswell not being explored enough(for example we hardly know anything about her backstory, parents, what was her first pokemon, why she hates bugs etc). That and i guess i missed great chemistry she gave to group.
Her anger, sarcastic remarks, and romantic and girly side brought strong interactions and dynamic within group adding that extra flavor.

But i would be open toward any of thenm comnng back receiving sequel(May, Dawn, Brock etc).

Because they have ton of unique interesting characters with unanswered things and open stories to take them in new fresh adventures and go on next, more complex stage of character development. Not following rookies, but mature, badass, more competent girls or males who already have formed friendship with Ash, skills and solid groundwork accomplishing more demanding challenges. Developng new interests and perception on things achieving their dreams.

-it pervates anime with more continuity(which i feel is important to keep things credible and endearing when you have long story told over multiple generations)
-strengthen plot by older characters serving as bridges connecting present with past giving us inseight in what happened before and how this reflected on Ash and others growth.
-older characters are already somewhat ironed out having formed pokemon teams, relationship with Ash and others, groundwork, more developed skills and personalities to push them on deeper, more meaningful character development. Since they passed basics long ago and have some background to do bild up not startoing from absolute zero.

Delivering well for me excitement and curiosity to see how much older characters we followed and appreciated changed, what they have been up to.

Making you more interested in well established cast which left their roots in anime because of already caring and having some emotional connection developed for such characters. Something which well you cant gain from new character of who nothing is known yet.

Creating ground for brand, iconic group of rotagonists through which anime your writing for and its story could be carried out.

-there should also be more continuity not forgetting about Ash past achievements. Pokemon he caught, previous friends making regular returns and getting updates, promises he made and experience which helped to shape him up in operson/trainer he is today. Addiing that way some background behind Ash travels around the workd and more substance,

-and i feel this show should stick little less with games, bringing more unpredicabillity into it as whole with anime only arcs, characters and mini sagas like Orange Islands provided. That way its much harder to expect what is going to happen next and it sets up ground for writers to be more flexible encouraging artistic liberty. Instead of being restrained by formulaic, in advance preconceived pattern and router thay need to follow.

This ideas of mine wouldn't fix everything. But i genuinely believe it would be step in right direction.

Well , If Pokemon become more like Gundam build fighter try --

FYI: The Battle in Megevolution Special are in that level !
I also notice many pokemon can use the attack of Build Burning Gundam.
Plus , The Protagonist Kamiki Sekai is actually based on a Better & Badass version of Ash.
Both Ash & Sekai has a lot similarity in their denseness , simplicity and thrust for Battle.
Difference is , Sekai is cooler then Ash.

If Ash had actually won the Pokemon League competition in Sinnoh. There's no questioning that he was the strongest trainer in the Sinnoh League, having defeated Paul and defeating two legendary Pokemon that no other trainer was even able to lay a finger on. If that jerk with the Darkrai hadn't been a part of the competition, there's not a doubt in my mind that Ash would have won it all. Unfortunately, the writers once again had to put him up against some impossible odds. After that, I fell off of the Pokemon anime, has I have no interest in generation 5 and so on. I hope Ash actually wins one, it would be interesting to see some development, so the Pokemon Anime doesn't just seem like another product that's just made for the money. Anime is supposed to be artistic.

Step 1: Ash gets rid of Pikachu.
Step 2: Ash gets some legendaries.
Step 3: Ash wins the goddamn league with a dream team (Ash-Greninja/Talonflame/Noivern/Latias/Meloetta/Mega Diancie).
Step 4: Ash and Serena become a couple.
Step 5: Ash GTFO and gets replaced by another protagonist.
