  • Do Pokémon from countries outside of your game gain more EXP than ones that are from your country? Because I was just in Restaurant Le Wow with EXP Power Level 3 and noticed that my Japanese Trevenant that I got over Wonder Trade was gaining a little more EXP than my Gourgeist (which I also got in a trade) while both had the Lucky Egg. I also had Diantha's Gardevoir (a traded Pokémon), and a Scolipede that was holding the Lucky Egg as well. Here's a comparison of what I got out of the last waitress' Exploud:

Gourgeist: Traded Pokémon, Lucky Egg, 13422 EXP
Gardevoir / Scolipede: Traded Pokémon / Lucky Egg respectively, 8948 EXP
Trevenant: Japanese, Traded Pokémon, Lucky Egg, 15212 EXP

So do foreign Pokémon gain more EXP than ones native to the country you're in or am I missing something?

PKMN that you received from trades (that don't have your OT) will always gain more level. That's how the games work ever since the very first PKMN games. ;)

It's that all of his Pokemon are getting different exp gains despite all being trades. At first I was gonna say that it's because Pokemon level up at different rates and therefore get different exp gains from the same battle, but Trevenant and Gourgeist have the same leveling rate, so they should be getting the same exp from the same battles. The only things I can think of are:

    1) Pokemon from foreign countries do get slightly more exp than ones from your own country.
    2) There's still a bit of the leveling system from Black/White where exp yields vary somewhat based on level.
    3) Something else entirely.

Just keep breeding. I take it that your Ralts is female, yes? The ability of the female has a higher chance of passing down than anything else. But keep breeding and you'll eventually get one with Trace. You can also try the Trade Corner, see if anyone there will trade you one.

No Everstones. Can also try for a Psychic Safari that has a Kirlia.

Everstones don't affect the ability, ONLY the nature, so breeding for one of 2 abilities takes up way less time than breeding for 1 of two abilities AND 1 of 25 natures. DO use the everstone would be my advice. Trace won't take very long to appear.

Just keep breeding, Trace will eventually appear. Another thing you could also do is get yourself an Ability Capsule (either via Battle Maison or try trading with someone here on the boards who might want something you have for trade to give you one of theirs) then you can simply change the Ralts with Synchronize to Trace

Thank you I might try the Ability Capsule if I'm not in luck I love doing the maison so I won't get bored by doing that thank you for helping with that this community is a BIG help better then my twitter by far when I get my internet back I'd be doing trading and other things and I'd be happy to give any pokemon with there hidden Ability if I find them I let you know :)

  • Shiny Breeding in X and Y

I honestly don't know if this is the correct place to ask this, but I will anyway

I've always done my shiny hunting through chaining, and I'm quite good at it. This time, however, I decided to get a Pokemon through the Masuda Method, since I've never done it before. I'm currently trying for a shiny Ralts to add to my team, and was hoping someone who has done Masuda breeding before could tell me if I'm doing it correctly:

-Got a female Japanese Ralts with 4IVs through Wonder Trade
-Also happened to acquire a 4IV English Ralts through Wonder Trade
-Put Destiny Knot on the Male, Everstone on the Female (since she was already Modest)
-Bred about 30 eggs until I found a Male Ralts with 5IVs
-Swapped the fathers, gave the new Ralts the Destiny knot

I'm on my 215th egg, no shiny. I know it is to be expected I'll need to hatch a lot more eggs, but I just wanted to make sure I've done the process right, because I don't want to hatch another 1000 eggs having done the breeding wrong, with zero chance of a shiny pokemon.

  • Don't worry, you are doing it correctly. Matsuda method only need one of the parents to be from a different country. However, the process is mind numbingly long so you need to be EXTREMELY patient. There are two occasions where it had worked for me, the first time took me 250-300 eggs actively breeding for it, while the second time was unintentional but had occurred after 30 eggs. I've heard from some people that it took them 500+ eggs to get their shinies so don't expect to be very lucky.
There are some ways to increase the odds of getting shinies such as obtaining the key item 'shiny charm' through the completion of your pokedex. Just keep going for it and you'll eventually get it.

    ANSWER TO KENTUCKYFRIED
If I understand the maths behind probabilities for shinny, hatching 215 eggs has a 19% chance of getting you at least a shinny, so just be patient and keep trying.
By the way, if you are going to hatch 710 eggs you would have a 50% chance of getting at least one shinny, so 710 eggs hatched would be equivalent to tossing a coin, which can be frustrating if you have bad luck, but well, 19% is a lot better than 1/4096 so you'll eventually get a shinny.

    QUESTION TO ANYONE WHO KNOWS

Does shinny charm affect the breeding chances?

Because of STAB I try to always have an attacking move of the same types as the user, but for Hawlucha is having Flying Press enough? If it's both a Fighting and Flying type move, is there no point in having a flying move, or (like regular battle typings) would there be some opponent that a fighting and flying typing on the move would negate each other (like say a Bug type for example) and only do normal damage? So in a case like this, should I also have a pure flying type move as well? Or because of it's dual type, should I also have a pure fighting and pure flying move in addition to the combination Flying Press? Thanks for the clarfication. (And really, I am fine if this ends up being the only dual type move ever!)
