I'm still to this day unaware as to why someone would want a pokemon for cuteness, if for any look at all. Why not a pokemon that looks cool? Or one that looks unique?
Anyways, I'd choose pokemon that are not just strong, but ones that are aesthetically pleasing, and by that I mean pokemon...
You know they only do that so that people will buy more of their games, right? It's not an attempt to bring children together. Just another Nintendo cash grab.
I'd like to remind those who say "doesn't surprise me since three quarters of the earth's surface is covered in water" that the keyword there is 'covered'. Surface disregarded, it's fairly clear that Rock, Ground, Steel, or even Fire should be the far more plentiful.
I know I've seen animals on the cartoon, but I couldn't provide a specific instance. As far as I know, there have been generic fish and I think some birds.
The trainer and the pokemon would probably have a strong relationship I imagine... and with that would come loyalty. Of course, if the trainer abused their Alakazam, I don't see why it wouldn't revolt. And that is why it's always handy to have five stronger, more loyal pokemon with you.
