well, all fireworks were completely illegal without permits until 10 years ago

well, up here in minnesota they've been banned for years, no matter the outside conditions

well, legally, they're not supposed to, but we're only 1.5 hours from the state line, so they often go to the state line and buy some in the next state and bring them back. rocket fireworks are illegal in my state.
