  • Sounds like you're making good progress. As for de-censoring Jynx...I'm not sure how I feel about that. I personally never had any problems with it, but there might be some out there who (still) do. The big issue at hand with me, though, is that it goes against what Game Freak now accepts as a critical design feature for this particular Pokémon.

As always, feel free to go on with what you feel is best. I'm probably just way too nit-picky or perfectionistic than most others on this site! :D
That's good to hear that you're going through with giving the entire game a DS makeover, as opposed to just battle sprites. The Poké Ball graphics change is a welcome one.

A couple of comments on the new backsprites, though. First off, what's with Red's awkward slumping posture? I really can't tell at all what position he's supposed to be in. And Leaf's hat seems a bit squished. The base detailing and style look appropriate, though.

The altered Blue sprite looks alright, nothing a little bit of touching up can't fix.
I'm liking everything I see here! It's kind of funny to think that the newer Pokémon games have "less detailed" sprites than those from the GBA games.
Re-coloring the Pokémon sprites, eh? Sounds like a neat idea, I kind of prefer that the games went for a more straight-up cartoonish look for sprites in the 4th and 5th Generation games versus the 3rd Generation. It looks like you've got a good grasp on what to do with them, but it seems a little more could be done about Bulbasaur, particularly with the face.

As for the new Leaf (I'm guessing that's her canon game name, with Green being her manga name) sprite, it looks much better than before! There are two immediate issues that stick out, though. First, her waist is ridiculously slim. I don't think she can support her own weight given those proportions! And second, the overall shading seems to be a bit...off. It's definitely more of the style of the DS games than that of the GBA games (which is good), but it all comes off a bit flat.

It's nice to see your progress, regardless!
If you didn't see the response from long ago, I'm sorry. I screwed up how I sent it!

DISCLAIMER: I'm not trying to be mean with the following comments, they're just constructive criticism. Art isn't for everyone, and what you've shown in the other departments is proof enough of your skills. :)

Well, I guess that's the idea I had with Red. But now his right arm looks a bit stiff. And his face...it's a bit...derpy. Just the way his eyes are in comparison to his mouth. The Green/Leaf sprite is another improvement, but it still doesn't look like it's at the same quality as the HG/SS sprites. I think at this point it might be better to find a spriter. But, before you consider that, read the rest please!

I just mentioned the Sabrina sprite because of how different it was to the original art compared to the other sprites. Technically you could find little nagging problems with all of the sprites. Like with Blue, there seems something different about him in his HG/SS sprite, but I can't put my finger on it. What I'm trying to say with that is that it isn't necessary to change Sabrina's sprite just for that. Her HG/SS sprite is still recognizably her, perhaps just a bit modernized.

If anything, I think the issue you'll run into with the HG/SS trainer sprites is that all the sprites that you don't change are going to be a lot smaller in comparison. Also, all the Pokémon sprites will be off in size by comparison, especially when you compare sizes in the Pokédex. Obviously you can't import all the DS sprites because several of them won't fit within the GBA's 64 x 64 pixel limit, and using shrunk versions of them defeats the entire purpose of using larger trainer sprites.

So, I guess the big question is...Is it really worth it to change the trainer sprites from their FR/LG versions if it's going to lead to that many issues? I'll let you answer that yourself!

I hope all is going alright, by the way.

*ADDED DETAIL* I realized that many other hackers have ignored these consistencies when using different sprites in their GBA Pokémon hacks. If you feel comfortable with the work you've done, then just go with it. I'll be fine either way.
ok. 649 in r2/s2 BUT will.you use the alpha version of 649 patch or will you wait for it to get completed ???
Sounds really great. Will you finish dark copper first or you will release a first beta in dark copper and then work with r2/s2 ?
Furthermore there are lots of genV styled rse hero OW's in Devian Art some of them are really good and require to give credit on the creator.
Damn ! Jambo has grown bored of the 649 patch !!!! He's not going to abandon it but he's going to take a break from ASM hacking and it's final release is going to delay greatly
better overwrite gen1 pokemon or others ( if you want to start working) but don't overwrite 3rd gen pokemon ! Also there are 24 free slots for new ones but with no pokedex entry
The "r" and "k" are a little weird though. I understand what kond of differences will be ( like black city and white forest) Hope you won't have version exclusive pokemon...and all pokemon will be catchable in both versions. The first pic shows a route of the game or not ? Also from what i've seen you started working on it ?
Is that the male b/w ow??? The font looks good along with the trainer card. Though it might be kinda startling for someone else but i'm ok with it !
you'll make two seperate versions ( a sapphire 2 and a ruby 2 ) or it will be one ? ( hope it's one version) but the final release of the 649 patch will delay you greatly...
Though you'll have to add dive spots in fr ( hopefully you can )
it's around 12-14 years from r/s. also hoenn's citiesmust have grown bigger in population , a mine or a quarry could be near the desert on route 111 and so on
Cool . It would be good to have a criminal organization that was formed by remaining members of team aqua and magma or both team magma and aqua
It would be good to add it in your project. But it's still in alpha phase...so it would take at least a year of waiting for it...Do whatever you want but i want to play it it sounds awesome :D It may be too early to ask but, will you add new cities and gym leaders just like in black2/ white2 ?
Cool man ! I reaally like the ruby2 / shapphire2 thing ! You will base it on ruby ?Also for the 649 patch you mentioned ( by jambo51) It will take lots of time + that you'll have to restart in fire red
Anyways it's good to know that you're hacking !
