    Pretty good. I sent Suicune the latest file then the same file on mine got deleted so Suicune's got the current ROM.
    Is adding Frontier Brains a good idea? In Hoenn? Like just a normal trainers?

    Hey, glad you enjoyed it! Things are coming along alright. I'm hoping the have the newest demo of Secrets and Rumours that will include Pikablu and Brick Town out either tonight or tomorrow (depending on how bug testing goes, you know).

    It would be less to do to Red, but it would be more difficult technically because Red uses ASM for events while Gold has an internal scripting system. But the real reason for doing it on Red is because the entire point of Secrets and Rumours from the very beginning was for it to be like Red Version, but this time to have the Pokegods, Mist Stone, Brick Town, and all that stuff that we made up back in the late 90s and talked about.

    And honestly, the lack of color is not a problem for me. I play Red on my android and the black and white doesn't bother me, it adds to the nostalgia (which is of course the only reason Secrets and Rumours exists haha).

    The main reason I end up not finishing hacks these days is because I will end up running out of ideas for one while simultaneously coming up with ideas for another one. The exception to that is Secrets and Rumours, because trying to re-implement some of the things from Red is difficult because it would involve using assembly language to redo some things (for example, a working safari zone would require modifying the battle engine). Its because of things like that that Cartmic and I are looking into the difficulty of turning Secrets and Rumours into a Red hack instead of a Gold hack. Why spend 99% of your time re-making red if you can just add the rumoured stuff to Red itself? But that's another story.

    Yes, as in made my own tools from scratch to make my life easier. Honestly, a lot of rom hacking isn't so much difficult as it is time consuming and requires a lot of creativity when you are trying to come up with everything for the game. But some parts of it are difficult. I still never have gotten around to really learning Z80 assembly to make more in-depth edits to things but writing a tool in VB6 isn't that difficult if you know the format of the data you're editing to start with.

    These are pretty much the only ones I've completed so far. I never have finished Secrets and Rumours, and I never really finished Sterling Silver. Pyro and I got about halfway through that one, decided to restart it and change things around a lot, and it died. Secrets and Rumours has been restarted a few times as well since it was started too, but I just refuse to let that one die.

    But yeah, I (like a lot of people) have had a bad habit of starting things and never finishing them. I've made some other things though, such as written tutorials and made some tools in the meantime.

    Haha understood. Also, why would it take place in 1990? I always assumed Red (and therefore Fire Red) took place in 1996, the year it was released in Japan, and Gold took place in 1999, the year it was released in Japan (Which is coincidentally 3 years later, just like the events of Gold are described as happening 3 years after Red).

    It was partially indicated with the way trading worked, they only implied that you were connecting to another area, whereas red to gold required a time capsule, and there were some other indicators as well but its been a while since I played Fire Red. Bulbapedia also lists them as taking place at the same time (and that GSC and DPPt are the same time as well).

    Also, what do you mean by adding any elders? Haha 3 years isn't enough time to suddenly make everyone be old, but maybe I'm misunderstanding.

    Well, I myself haven't really planned on making a ruby de-make, in case Melash decides to start Ancient Emerald back up I don't want to compete with him or have people say I stole the idea. But I have ideas written down in my hacking notebook for a possible hack that would take place in Hoenn, but at the same time as Gold, so three years after Ruby. (Fire Red indicates that Ruby and Fire Red take place the same time). Not sure when I'll get around to it though, but yeah.

    Well its sort of a small community, there are only a handful of people who are still serious about hacking gens I and II it seems. But we're around.

    No problem haha. And yes, I'm working on another project. As soon as I can get over my "writer's block" and finish up this area (and test it all out of course) I'll be releasing a new demo of Secrets and Rumours. It won't be a lot longer than the old one was, but the old stuff has been re-done to be a lot closer to Red Version (original starters, potion in the PC at the start, etc.) And it will let you get to Brick Town and stuff. But I'll post more about that when its time to release. You can check out the fan page for Secrets and Rumours on facebook for info as well.

    And after I get this demo out, I'll start back working on the Halloween Hack.
