  • I can do both of those things with the threads, if you're absolutely sure?

As for the name change, I'm pretty certain they've been abolished again- you may be aware of what I'm about to say but I'll say it anyway just in case. Basically, name changes were quite hard on the server, and so eventually they became an impossibility. Recently enough they were tested again on one or two moderators, but after the last one apparently it caused the site to crash again, so they've been abolished, again. That's as much as I know about the situation, anyway; if you want to change your name I think all you can do is make an alternate profile and link to it from here.
Protip: If it has been deleted for being generic then you know what they were saying.
I don't think I am, seeing as it's still relevant, but anyways:
You're kinda taking on an 'omniscient' stance here, and I don't think it's entirely correct. Some people may think that good graphics make a good game (which, as previously established, is not true) but these are the kind of people who realise that there is a lot more to hacking (or at least making a good hack) than inserting tiles and sprites.
I don't believe that many people aside from the "noobs" I mentioned earlier are going to see a hack with good graphics and automatically assume it's a good game- people just aren't that blind. In my time here, people have been able to see past the graphics and judge a game for its other elements. You seem to be certain that that is not the case, but I'm not entirely sure what else there is to say on the matter other than the fact that it is one of opinion. While I won't deny the Emulation section's activity has decreased a bit over the last while, I don't think it's entirely accurate to say that we 'as a whole need a new mindset'.
That's all well and good, but if that's the case you might have wanted to word your first post a bit differently.
As for the rest of your VM, don't you think that would have made a great addition as the last paragraph of your first post? Underneath:

I, for one, am not the kind of person who would 'put up' with a boring hack just because the graphics, and to be honest that's all I care about. It's entirely subjective- some people prefer graphics over gameplay (or 'substance'), and others prefer the opposite. Similarly, some people might assume a game would be good due to its good graphics and continue to play through, whereas others wouldn't care. As someone said in the thread, that's basically the case with anything else in the world, and always will be.
It's funny how I turn internet acronyms into pronouncable words - HTML into "HoTMaiL", PKSV into "PoKeSaV", etc. you get the idea :P.
I think I could've done a better titlescreen, because Dratini's sprite is messed up elsewhere. And I'm in the process of inserting an actual world map into the game :D.

But yeah, I think I could do it. There are definitely going to be some restrictions as to what can be put in though…
You know how your internet alias is Hinkage? It would be so cool if you appended Hyetology as a last name to it. I mean come on, Hinkage Hyetology? That's freaking epic, man.
…Okay, maybe not epic, but still pretty cool.
What's your MSN ID? I can't seem to find it on your profile.

I've come up with an ingenius way to render all walk-through-walls cheat codes completely useless, only by writing movement permissions in A-Map a little different. I feel so powerful, lol. The only problem is that my wallhack code is useless for debugging :/ You can read the details of it in the spoiler, if you're even interested in something like that -_-.
    Spoiler:
I think not. I want to script in hex to have the ability to seamlessly remove scripts from the ROM, and well… to see my scripts in person. It feels like I'm looking at them through glass in a script editor, if that makes any sense. Its weird, but it feels more open and comfortable in a hex editor—things are simpler to look at. Back when I used a script editor, the only thing Hex Workshop was good for was to be dragged out to erase a faulty script that was to be recompiled with more bytes (for things that fixed whatever error was in it).
To get myself accustomed to it. It's not like I'm mapping in hex or encoding music in hex, or anything crazy. The raw form of most game scripts are easy enough to look at, and practically a cakewalk to read/write if you have a command ref sheet :3.

Generally all commands are one byte, and most of them have additional bytes after them denoting things like offsets and IDs.
I just finished making an XML reference sheet with all the standard script commands, and movement codes for applymovement (cmd 0x4F) - preparing myself to start scripting in hex.

You know what made it fun? Listening to the Underwater Dive music in Sappy the entire time ;3.
    I sadly can't do that :(
You actually need a hex editor to have music play for certain trainers, iirc
No. I know how to do it myself, but my friend does it for me since he's more familiar with it.
Remember when I said I wanted to include you in my hack? Well, I want you to pick six team members for your character—not that I'm inserting you into the hack right now, but so I can note it for later use.

There are a few restrictions to make it realistic and legit, you're an NPC after all :P.
Try not to have more than one legendary on your team, and if you have one try not to pick a game mascot. Other than that, keep realism in mind as always, and it should be jelly :D.
Despite the oddness that you're actually asking me to help with something out of the blue, I totally would help you, but Sappy doesn't work on my computer either. It only works with Ruby and Sapphire (as it's obviously a really old version) but even at that it glitches when I try to do anything with it, so I'm of no use to you, I'm afraid.

What made you ask me? :P
I read your post in Hyetology's thread introducing the hack's first support banner, and I'd like to let you in on a little-known vB secret. You don't have to break the URL/IMG BBCodes and tell the readers to unbreak them for use. Type the code for the banner as you normally would (without the periods), and wrap it within tags.

And I added the banner with my signature CSS revamp :D.
