Welcome to the Steel-Type Fan Club!

Sturdy and Sleek! The Steel Type Fan Club

    Introduction
Welcome to the...Clang! Steel Type Fan Club! With 11 resistances and 1 immunity, Steel is the sturdiest, most defensive typing in the game. Barring the quakes of the earth, roaring flames, and the most skilled of fighters, nothing can pierce through their ironclad awesomeness. Sleek, sturdy, and reliable, the Steel type is quite a powerful weapon in the hands of a worthy trainer!

What made you join this club? I like joined all of the clubs to talk about the different kinds of Pokemon!
Answer one of the current topics:

I like Empoleon (it gaining the Steel-type was an unexpected, and awesome surprise), but recently gained a lot of respect for Steelix. I used the in-game traded Steelix to complete a Nuzlocke in Pokemon Y. Steelix has such massive physical defense that it can take even 2x super-effective hits to the face and not care. If it could only learn Rapid Spin...

  • Welcome aboard, Superstrength79! And yes, Steelix is awesome! Its physical defense is insane. Steelix has become a fixture of my UU team. Just do a few Curses and then Gyro Ball wrecks everything! I love Empoleon too. Mostly for its design, since I've never used it competitively. Steel/Water is such a great type combination.

If Steelix had Rapid Spin I'd use him for everything (and heck, why can't he? Doesn't Gyro Ball just consist of it rapidly spinning anyways?)

What made you join this club: Steel is one of my top five favorite Pokemon types
What Steel type do you use the most: When I look at the Steel type that I have used the most, it would have to be Empoleon. I have used it in quite a few teams while playing through Diamond and Platinum. The most recent use was when I used it on my World Leaders team in Platinum, where it had the nickname of Napoleon. Yes, I have heard jokes about the nickname.

What made you join this club?: Same reason why I've joined the previous one; I just love steel-types!

What's your favorite Steel type Pokemon?
Definitely gotta be Skarmory. n_n;; Huge fan of how it looks in-design. When battling, it could be pretty useful, too, as it has huge defenses and access to a recovery move. Aside from that, I also like Scizor, Steelix, Lucario, Ferrothorn, Forretress, Metagross, Aggron, and many more!

What made you join this club? Steel types are a menace when used correctly, offensively or otherwise, and they make up some of my favorite type combos.
Bisharp is a pokemon I talk about a lot and use even more. His design is creative, sleek and imposing, as befitting a dark type with the armor of a steel titan.

What's your favorite Steel type Pokemon?
Wow that's hard!! For offense it's definitely Escavalier, his can attack better than most pokemon plus his defense is high as well and only has one weakness. For defense it's got to be Aggron. That beast is so bulky and with rock head and head smash make an awesome combination.

Not to mention Steelix in the anime. When it uses Sand Storm to deflect Ash's attacks, it turns itself around while standing completely vertical. If it can use Sand Storm to do that, it should be able to Rapid Spin :)

EDIT: If I weren't a Sandslash man, I'd claim Steelix to be my main Bro. I guess I could be an S-Pokemon Master? :)

Hey Ashley! Yesss Skarmory is awesome! I only just recently discovered how great Skarmory is when I started doing Sky Battles. It really takes hits, and it has access to Stealth Rock. And it looks sooo cool. Whenever my opponent sends out a Skarmory I'm like "crap, how am I going to beat this?"

Bisharp is the coolest looking Pokemon period, in my opinion. Not to mention he's great in battle and has an awesome type combo. His attack stat is ridiculous! Also, I think he should get a Mega Evolution at some point :3

Yeppp, Rock Head and Head Smash is a deadly combination. I've been learning that the hard way in OU on Showdown D:

That's one of my favorite battles in the anime. He turns into like a tornado. I wish you could do stuff like that in the games -_-

  • I joined the previous Steel clubs so yeah why not?

    Username/Nickname: Hikamaru
    Partner: Aegislash
What made you join this club? Because Steel-types are so awesome and they are very tankish but can hit hard as well.

What's your favorite Steel type Pokemon?

My faves have to be Mawile, Aegislash and Klefki. I love using them a lot, both Mawile (well, its Mega actually) and Aegislash are hard-hitters who can also take a hit when played with correctly, while Klefki is really great at annoying the foe plus it has minimal weaknesses. Other notable mentions include Lucario and Excadrill, also very strong attackers.

  • Hikamaru has been added! And great choices, all three! Klefki is one of the most annoying Pokemon to have ever been created (second only to Jirachi, also a steel type by the way!). It just comes out, sets up its dual screens and laughs at any attacks that you try to use against it. I've learned to always be prepared for Klefki in OU. Plus it's adorable :) Aegislash is a lot of fun to use. Its always a good switch in to absorb attacks, and makes opponents think twice about making contact. It just takes a bit of getting used to having to predict your opponents moves and all. And of course, everyone knows how I feel about Mawile, but maaaaan is it a beast in battle. It holds its own even in ubers. Just the other day on showdown a Mawile took out my entire Ubers team (populated entirely by big beefy legendaries). I considered saving a replay, but it was kind of embarassing :P

  • I want to breed a shiny Mawile to use in PvP, but I am still trying to get my shiny Eevee (female boo 12.5% chance) with hidden ability so I can have a shiny Vaporeon.

My goal for the near-future is to have a shiny for every Pokemon that can use a mega stone :)

I'm not really a fan of Mawile's shiny form, personally. Not that it's bad, I just like the black jaws better than the pink ones. Looks cooler to me, for some reason xD

Now the shiny that I really want more than any other shiny in the world is Metagross. Look at it in all its glory!

  • I'll likely get a 6 IV Mawile before I get any shiny ones. I usually stop trying at 6 IVs and egg moves :)

I'm not too big of a fan of Mawile's shiny form, either. To me, it looks sort of awkward. ): Anyway, shiny Genesect would be my personal favorite. It's got a red body color, which, in my opinion, is much better than purple.

I like Genesect's shiny better too, but I see it like, all the time in battle spot. Maybe it's just me, but I've only seen the non-shiny Genesect like once. Also, my Genesect in Pokemon Y is shiny. Woot!

  • I tried to come up with a new topic, while at work, but soon realized it was a flop. Something along the lines of "You are in the final match of the league finals, and you are both down to your last Pokemon. Your Steel-type partner Pokemon is facing a bad match-up. How did you plan your moves to handle this situation?"

Steelix vs. Rotom Wash was my answer, but I soon realized that Steelix just can't get there in 1 hit (and it will get 2HKO by most of Rotom-W's usual moveset).

The only chance Steelix would have is if I had taught it Smack Down and it follows with an Earthquake, Rotom-W would have to miss one Hydro Pump, and Steelix has to survive the first hit with its Assault Vest buff.

It was fun to use the damage calculator to see how/why certain Pokemon can wall your team selections.

  • Well, the worst thing a bisharp could face is a fighting type, so I'd go for an aerial ace, and if it survived, chip off its final sliver of health with sucker punch.

Same here!! Shiny Genesect is so common for me it's normal form looks rare :P After all the shiny ones I've seen I'm starting to like the normal form more.

Escavalier's only weakness is a 4x fire so if he see's a fire type he is pretty much doomed, unless trick room is in play......but he would still be destroyed :( But he could knock off at least half the life of a fire type.

  • I think Game Freak really needs to either:

    1) Change Hidden Power to use the higher of Attack or Special Attack

    2) Make a new move, based on Attack, that otherwise works just like Hidden Power

It would help all of the physically strong Pokemon, that never use Hidden Power, be able to have an answer to their walls.
