  • IDK about unbeatable. Azumarill can still be dealt with by Grass or Electric attacks. Klefki or Mawile can be dealt with by Fire attacks. Granbull, and other pure Fairy-types, don't have massive HP pools, so can be dealt with in a few attacks. Florges is basically a Fairy version of Alakazam; albeit with better stats, but still has a low Defense.

I am currently brewing up a Smeargle to troll people with. It has King's Shield and Extremespeed, but I'm still not sure what I am going to do with the last two moves. Maybe Belly Drum and some kind of tail attack. I was thinking of giving it moves to be exactly like Aegislash, but not sure how effective it would be (if at all). Maybe Iron Tail? Steel-type seems to be a good coverage move lately.

Something more Club-related: I have a shiny Steelix now! Caught an Onix in the safari and trade-evolved it into Steelix. Has Sturdy and a Lonely nature, so I'll likely train it to be a UU/casual sweeper.

Nice!! One of my favorite shinies!

For Smeargle, if you're going for a physical Steel attack, Iron Head would be my choice. It's the most reliable, and the 30% chance to make the opponent flinch doesn't hurt either. Iron Tail is more powerful, but after the 4x attack boost from Belly Drum Iron Head will probably be enough to OHKO most opponents. If Iron Tail misses it could ruin your sweep and leave you open for attack.

And actually, that brings me to a new topic...

What's your favorite Steel type move?

Here's a list of all of them for your convenience :)

Steel type moves are some of the best moves period. I love Iron Tail thanks to how cool it was in the anime but the accuracy in-game makes me hardly ever use it on my teams.. so probably Flash Cannon. Super strong and accurate which is exactly what I love in offensive moves. Meteor Mash is another really epic one and it's Metagross' signature move in my eyes so I always keep it on him.

Defensive-wise.. Metal Sound and Iron Defense purely because I loved the +2 stat animations in the third generation.

I like Magnet Bomb (having been in a Steel-type safari too many times). I like to think of them as heat-seeking projectiles :)

Yesss, Meteor Mash! I'm not even sure why, I just find it a really cool move. I always imagine the Pokemon coming down like a comet.

I have to say my favorite is Shift Gear. That stat boost is awesome (+2 speed and +1 attack). After two uses it turns Klinklang into a sweeper. And of course, that animation in X and Y. So cool!

Yay, welcome! I'll add your name to the list tomorrow morning once I get the chance to get on a PC.

All really good moves. I've found Flash Cannon to be useful for getting rid of physically defensive rock types. And of course Steel Wing always makes me think of Skarmory (one of my favorites :D)

I love Flash Cannon the best, it's one of the best special Steel moves and has some good distribution thanks to TMs. It's pretty much been my go-to Steel-type move, and I find it a blessing that Hydreigon learns it because otherwise Fairy-types would be destroying it left and right. Iron Head's also another good one on the physical end.

I am really hoping we get more special Steel moves in future generations because the type itself seems mainly physical so it'd be nice we get some more balance in there.

  • So, amongst all the speculation about OR/AS, I just thought about something, and I'd like to make a new topic of it!

Do you think any Steel types will get a Mega Evolution in OR/AS?

I think (and hope, omg) that Metagross will get a Mega Evolution. I feel like ever since X and Y, there's going to be a new tradition of the champion's signature Pokemon Mega Evolving. How cool would it be if Steven Mega Evolved his Metagross during the champion battle?? Omg, I would be so happy!

Partner - You can pick one partner from the list below: Metagross

What made you join this club?: Over my years of playing pokemon, the steel-type eventually became my favourite. I just love the designs and concepts of a lot of the steel-type pokemon, they can be very rare and really are dependable in battle, both offensively and defensively. I also feel that say a grass-type pokemon, can really be unique as a part steel-type, Ferrothorn being the only, but an excellent example. I also really hope we get a non-legendary fire/steel type someday.

Answer one of the current topics.

What's your favorite Steel type Pokemon?

Hands down it would be Metagross. I feel he's the most unique and fascinating out of all the psuedo-legendaries, and aside from Tyranitar, is the only one that isn't a dragon-type. I love how many various moves you can teach him and even with ghost and dark type weaknesses now, he still performs very well in battle.

Numerous other favourite pokemon, aside from their pre-evolutions would be; Magnezone, Forretress, Skarmory, Mawile, Aggron, Jirachi, Bronzong, Lucario, Dialga, Excadrill, Escaviler, Ferrothorn, Klinglang, Bisharp, Aegislash and Klefki.

Who is your favorite Steel Type Specialist?

Steven, mainly because R/S/E was my favourite generation.

What's your favorite Steel Type move?

Meteor Mash followed by Flash Cannon.

Do you think any Steel types will get a Mega Evolution in OR/AS?

I really, really hope Metagross gets a mega evolution in OR/AS.
