Hahaha I embrace the dark. Night time is my favorite time of the day and I never get scared of the dark. I used to intensely work out at all different hours and one of my times was between 12-3am I would go out with my headphones in and go for a jog. I was honestly always a little more worried of a pack of coyotes taking me down one night than having a strange man attack me since the area I live in is very dead at night and safe as far as I know. Anyway I know that's a weird time for exercising outside but it was so refreshing and relaxing to me.

When I go to bed I love to have the room completely dark and my door shut. Keeps my room dark and cool which I find perfect for sleeping!!

  • I'm not spooked by it if i'm at home, I walk around the house in the dark often (saving money on dem billz, innit). But walking home alone, at night? Hate it. I think it goes back to the point I made in the fighting thread about being small, i'd have no chance if I was mugged or started on by someone.

I used to be extremely scared of dark as a child. Wherever I was, there would always have to be some form of light. If not, then I'd refuse to stay, as I would always get this eerie feeling that somebody was standing behind staring at me. Not sure why, though; it's just how my mind worked back then. xD;; Now, I'm a lot more tolerable of dark, thankfully. Still a little afraid of it, but not as much as I used to be.

  • Hi my name's Matt, I'm 20 years old, and I'm not afraid to say that I still run up the stairs in fear that something's going to chase me every time I shut off the lights.

  • I am afraid of the dark. I'm not afraid that someone is there, but rather something. Like a snake. Or a territorial, rabid raccoon. I'm fine when it's dark in my apartment, but I'm not setting foot outside without daylight or streetlights.

I'm unreasonably prone to jump-scares, too. If you come up behind me quietly and say hi, I'll probably jump a little--my senior year roommate was notoriously good at doing that.

It's natural that when there's a sense missing, our other senses are heightened. You're going to be more aware of sound outside at night whether you're consciously aware of it or not.

I get freaked out when I'm going to the bathroom at night, because looking down the hall and not being able to make sense of certain shadows that are cast in the darkness as being something harmless isn't something that I'm good at. I run back into my room from wherever I have to go. And if I go outside, I do it quickly.

I'm anxious enough, though. I'm also a very paranoid person. I live in a pretty nice and friendly area, and the police station is just three blocks away, but even then if I see someone approaching me in the darkness ahead, I'll do my best to avoid them for safety reasons. Hop in my car, go in the house, cross the street and make it seem like that was my intention regardless.

  • I'm not too afraid of the dark, at least not when there are things around me I can see. But sometimes when i'm in my suite at college at night and it's dark and there are no lights on, I tend to stumble around a tad bit.

Unless you're at the forest, or in the middle of nowhere...with no flashlight, then yes that's scary.
A light would make me more afraid for my safety. You see, when you shine light around, you make the source of that light (ie. yourself) highly visible.

  • During my childhood, I would often sleep with a nightlight, and that actually didn't stop until probably a couple years ago when one night I was too lazy to plug it in XD That routine stuck so now I sleep in complete darkness, and even that small amount of light bothered my ability to sleep so thankfully I was able to man up :B But yeah, when I was younger, I was often spooked by being in a pitch black environment. Though walking around in an open area during the dark is another story; if I'm not within the safety of my car, or a building, I will be very cautious, and on high alert.

Normal Porn For Normal People. (Not what you think.) The absurd oddness of it all creeps me the ♥♥♥♥ out. In fact right now I'm here cuz I can't sleep.
Now, because I'm so curious, I'm trying to find the monkey video...

It's not real (I hope.) But I know that you can find fan-made videos, although they're not always consistent with the story. Idk that you'll find that one though, or that you'd want to.

I don't think I could sit through it, but the imagination of it is keeping me up. Chimps are kinda scary.

The imagination of it has been keeping me up. and a) I have no fear of chimps. and b) If this WAS real, it would affect me in zero ways. Still so very, very ♥♥♥♥ed up. Reminds me of those horrid gore sites. But please don't look those up, seriously. The can and will mentally scar you for life and will cause illnesses that will last the rest of your life. that is the most horrifying stuff... Please, please, please, if you want to ever sleep again don't.

  • I can only sleep if the room is completely pitch black dark, but I hate going outside in the dark. :/ Sometimes if I'm randomly taking the trash out at like 2am or so, I just get so spooked. So convinced I will be either kidnapped or murdered or both.

  • Factually I'm a nyctophilist, in other words, I'm by far more comfortable in dark places, rooms, areas, whatever, than I am in bare sunlight or really bright places...
That's why I really don't like visiting places like my school, a hospital or my dentists' office >.<

  • Yeah, I'm not too afraid of the dark, unless I hear something or get a weird vibe. My biggest problem in the dark is when I stub my toe on my bed or something and I'm as loud as possible when everyone is asleep or something. That's always the worse.
