Well, as you all know, I'm trying to watch every anime that /tg/ approves of:
    http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Approved_anime

Here's what I've watched on the list so far and my thoughts on it:

Cowboy Bebop: Surprisingly, I don't enjoy it as much as most people do for some reason, but I still like it. Maybe give another shot one of these days and see if my opinion changes.

Fullmetal Alchemist: I've watched both versions. 2003 was okay; Brotherhood was fucking awesome.

Ghost In The Shell: I've only watched the first movie and Stand Alone Complex. The movie was great, SAC was kind of hit-or-miss depending on the episode (beautiful opening theme, though)

Trigun: My sister adores this anime. I kind of like it myself.

Log Horizon: I'm really loving this series and hearing that it now has a tabletop RPG version brings joy to my heart.

Fist Of The North Star: FUCK. YES.

    JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: SO FABULOUS

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan: Got MY testosterone flowing.

Record of Lodoss War: As a Dungeons & Dragons fan and considering this anime was originally a series of AD&D 1st Edition games, I'd have to say this is fuckwin.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Kinda, sorta liked it. Ending sucked though and End of Evangelion wasn't exactly much better.

Now and Then, Here and There: It was generally well-done and handled a lot of dark themes very well. Problem is, it's so depressing and soul-crushing that I don't think I'll be watching it again anytime soon.

The Slayers: Again, this appeals to the Dungeons & Dragons fan in me, considering it's basically what usually happens during a game. Haven't watched the final two seasons yet, but the first three are all good; lots of people say the third season wasn't very good, but I liked it. Second season is the best, though. The movies and OVAs are also loads of fun.

No Game No Life: Haven't finished it yet, but I love what I'm seeing.

Haiyore! Nyaruko-san: You know, it's weird, when I first heard about this and saw pictures of it, I thought I was going to fucking loathe it, but it turned out to be pretty entertaining.

  • Kind of surprised DBZ is still popular with kids your age now. Unless you are in one of those places that love old shounenshit eternally like Mexico.

  • Some of us never had anime clubs. I only had a tabletop gaming club in high school (and in college the anime club ran out of the far campus on days I had to work or that I had class, depending on the semester), though they did introduce me to a few anime, some of which I never finished, such as Blue Gender (never finished), Trigun, and TTGL.

And, wait, DBZ still airs on 3 channels somewhere? Only DBZ thing I know is on air is Kai via Toonami...

  • My high school was always too judgmental for an anime club ;( the only one I knew of was at the public library.

They did have a DDR tournament which I randomly showed up for and dominated. They weren't very happy -w-...

I remember when my mom told me I wasn't allowed to watch DBZ anymore because it was too violent. I also remember ignoring her and watching it anyway. I was like 6 or 7 lmao.

  • I know GT airs on one of the Nick channels, and I was pretty sure I saw it on at least one other channel the other day.

I remember when I would go to my great grandpas and he'd be watching some black and white show probably I love lucy or something, and I would turn on DBZ and the adults would all start getting into it too because it was usually the episodes that actually had fighting and stuff.

  • I remember watching most of DB and DBZ back when I was a kid since it was on TV and my cousin was obsessed with it. Never got into it myself though really.

  • It's a shame Nick opted for GT rather than the much more appropriate Dragon Ball, considering the latter never aired there and Kai didn't even end with the Buu Saga Stateside (and they're still airing the Buu Saga in Japan).

Plus I consider Dragon Ball to be the best of the entries in the series. That coupled with the fact that they already have a perfectly good censored version courtesy of Toonami.

One of the reasons I hated GT was the character designs. Everyone just looked so godfucking terrible.

Especially Pan and Vegeta. Vegeta cut his hair and that mustache makes him look like a pedophile and as for Pan...Jesus, girl, did the 90's chew you up and spit you out or something? Ugh..

    Trunks also looked pretty awful.

Didn't expect NGNL to make the cut.
/tg/ is the 4chan board for traditional gaming, such as board games, card games, tabletop wargames like Warhammer 40K, and pen-n-papper RPGs like GURPS and Dungeons & Dragons

No Game No Life features a lot of traditional games. Of course it'd make the cut.

  • Most of that list is pretty fun. VOTOMS, Trigun, Dougram and Nyaruko-san are the ones I haven't seen but do plan to. Dropped NGNL and Maou Yuusha, have no real intent on watching Kantai Collection.

Ah, so I take it this list is more for what the anime is rather than the quality of the anime themselves.

  • I've never liked the idea of going by a sites list of "approved" anime. It just seems so egotistical. Like who cares what a website calls "approved". If I need a new show to watch, I usually ask friends what they like and go from there.
