  • Since there was a remake of the Hoenn games there has been speculation that the next games will be a new generation with new pokemon. Do you think there's gonna be a Dark/Fairy or Fairy/Dark type? What other types that have not been paired with dark types do you hope to see or expect to see? Do you think any current dark types may get a further evolution or devolution?

It's not a logical combination, which won't say there will never appear a Pokémon of such type combination, but I don't expect it in the next generation, because the fairy type is still young. A water/fire Pokémon appeared just recently and we still haven't seen any ghost/normal Pokémon for example.

Tried something, hope you like it.

Fairy / dark sure sounds interesting as a combination but i doubt we'll get one.
Then again they might introduce one, maybe even a legendary, who knows.

Not sure if any current dark type will get an evolution, but i would love to see them get one, especially Honchkrow and
Liepard. I think they really need and deserve one.
Oh wow thanks thats a nice userbar would u just post the code for it and I'll put it up! :D
Also it is interesting and i doubt any one pokemon will get the combo but i think a legendary may!

  • I think a Dark/Fairy-type wouldn't make much sense fundamentally, haha. There would be very little that would resist both its STABs (I think the Steel/Fairy-types are the only ones). But there aren't many Dark-types we already have that I could see gaining new evolutions in future generations.

Y'know, I'd love to see some sort of mischievous elf-like Pokemon. That should suit the Dark/Fairy type since fairies tend to be Pranksters. A Dark/Normal-type would be nice too.

H.A.N. hit the nail on the head right there. I think that while it's certainly possible, if they're still creating opposites for types that've existed since the first generation than we'll probably be waiting for a while. I can't really imagine a dark/fairy being anything other than an evil pixie either so it's not like they've got much to go off. :(

Didn't think of that either! I feel like dark/fairy would be too much of a wombo combo together. Though they could certainly tone down stats, it still doesn't prevent it from being able to beat up a wide range of types while having many resistances.

Can't help but agree with you there as well. I think most dark types have already reached their max point of evolution and you can't do much their design unless you increase their size/scariness. There aren't many standalone pokemon either so there's not much option for expansion of current dark types.

Y'know, I'd love to see some sort of mischievous elf-like Pokemon. That should suit the Dark/Fairy type since fairies tend to be Pranksters. A Dark/Normal-type would be nice too.

If they were to create a dark/fairy then I'd love to see this! Honestly it's really hard to do much other than combine the idea of darkness and fairies/pixies/sprites together. That's interesting though - maybe they could just use the colour black to represent darkness then throw it together with a fairy-like creature such as a ball of fluff or something.

What other types that have not been paired with dark types do you hope to see or expect to see?

Dark/electric anybody? I feel like they missed a chance at this with Luxray but I'm imagining it in my head and it just sounds really cool haha. Either they change Luxray's typing or create something completely new, either's awesome. :]

Reason you love dark types: They have some of the coolest designs, and some of the best stories too. Plus, since I found Absol on Sapphire, I've loved Dark types.
3 partner pokemon: Absol, Tyranitar and Umbreon

Dark/Electric would be cool, but I'm surprised there hasn't been a Dark/Bug combo yet. I thought for sure Game Freak would have made that a thing.

It seems a lot of people feel this way. Luxray really looks like a dark Pokémon, being black colored, and learns a good amount of dark moves as well. I see a good possibility of it getting a dual typed electric/dark Mega evolution some time. Adding types when Mega evolving isn't even that uncommon, look at Ampharos or Pinsir. Those typings were a lot less obvious, Pinsir suddenly growing wings or Ampharos being a dragon.

Hi Aiden, welcome to the club! Dark types are definitely very cool, you've got that right. That's interesting though, have any favourite entries about dark types? I really like how a lot of them reflect the evil nature and doom brought by dark types. Their entries make them seem a lot more intimidating than other types as well. Take Houndoom's X and Y entry for example:

X: Long ago, people imagined its eerie howls to be the call of the grim reaper.
Y: The flames it breathes when angry contain toxins. If they cause a burn, it will hurt forever.

It's pretty spooky thinking that a pokemon can cause neverending pain, let alone be mistaken for the Grim Reaper. But it makes Houndoom seem like a really scary predator even in comparison to the power of some dragon types.

Also great choices for partners! I've always loved Absol's title as a bringer of catastrophe whilst Tyranitar's resemblance to Godzilla has always made it seem like a cool pokemon to own. As for Umbreon I've used one myself and really liked its design. How do you feel about Absol's and Tyranitar's mega forms though?

Answer any current topic: What other types that have not been paired with dark types do you hope to see or expect to see?[

Bug/Dark would be a really interesting combo though it'd be hard to use a non-poisonous bug that looks scary enough. I think Mega Pinsir could of been a perfect bug/dark though. They could of even done a Heracross and ignored its wings seeing as there's tons of bug/flying types already.

Yeah definitely! A lot of dark types tend to have well... a dark colour scheme. I think Luxray would be perfect for a mega evolution though, seeing as pokemon such as Manectric already have one. I don't think they've reached Sinnoh in terms of designing megas but this'd definitely be one of the first pokemon I'd want to see a design for. They could make it look a lot eviler than it already does as well. :]

Every time Absol appears before people, it is followed by a disaster such as an earthquake or a tidal wave. As a result, it came to be known as the disaster Pokémon.
It chases people and Pokémon from its territory by causing them to experience deep, nightmarish slumbers.
A Pokémon that was formed by 108 spirits. It is bound to a fissure in an Odd Keystone.

Try and guess which is which haha. The first one is obvious, but the others? These are some cool entries, but I'd have to go through them all to find my favourite.

Absol's mega form I'm not too keen on to be honest. I feel it's taken the wrong direction. Instead of enforcing the "harbinger of doom" concept behind Absol, or bringing out something that said "Apocalypse", they made Mega Absol seem more angelic, and I dislike that.

Mega Tyranitar is cool, but I prefer regular Tyranitar's design. There's something about Mega Tyranitar that doesn't sit right. I think some of the Mega Evolutions could have been a bit more inspired. They seem like the developers sat down and said "Right, let's add little squiggly bits and change a couple of colours and call it a day".

They could take inspiration from something poisonous, just make it dark instead. Like the Black Widow spider. Use that as inspiration, and make it Dark instead of Poison.

I would love for Luxray to receive a Mega Evolution. It's such and awesome looking Pokémon, and if they do it right, Luxray could become a beast. I would also like to see how it's power would compare in Mega Form to some other Pokémon. Of course, no Pokémon have anything on Mega Salamence, but hey, it could still get somewhere haha

True. But I can see the reasoning behind it, Absol itself isn't the cause of the doom, he warns the people for the upcoming disasters. In fact he wants to protect the people by warning them to give them time to prepare against the disaster, so kinda like a guardian angel. Only problem is him looking like an angel takes away the misunderstandings of him being the causer of the disasters himself.

Aye. Absol is like a guardian angel. But the misconceptions and serious nature of Absol's appearances should have been put into its Mega Evolution I feel, not how it is like a guardian angel to people. It also takes away from Absol's Dark typing a little I feel.

  • Featured Dark Type Of the Week!
    34fidtl.png

Krookodile, The Intimidation pokemon! They never allow prey to escape. Their jaws are so powerful, they can crush the body of an automobile. They're a very violent Pokémon, they try to clamp down on anything that moves in front of their eyes.

    Possible Questions:

Have you ever used Krookodile Competitively or in game? If not why/will you?

When he was released for BW what did you think of him?

    Does his typing suit him?

Im not gonna ask the mega question.....but its free to answer!

    Other thoughts?

I know this is a bit overdo it was meant to be on saturday or friday as it usually is but i got sick and couldn't find the time to get on long enough but it did give me some time to think of the pokemon id choose! And welcome Ninja Aiden to the Club glad to have you!

Also since i didnt do this before what dark type would you guys like to see as the next POTW?
    (Dont say sableye)

    Saybleye.

Absol would be my nomination, because of how awesome it really is. A protector of people's lives, and homes. Yet it is always feared and it's appearance is ominous to most. Absol is a hero to everyone it appears before, but it is seen as a harbinger of doom. Absol needs a little recognition in life!

EDIT: As for Krookodile, I've never really used one, or got to know one enough. I never got into Gen V, so my experience and opinion on it and the Pokémon is very low. I would say that it does look the part for a Dark/Ground type.

I think all Pokémon will at some point get a Mega evolution. I don't think Krookodile will get a Mega soon. I hope it doesn't. I feel Pokémon should prioritise Gen IV a little more. I feel like it has been very neglected since Gen V.

  • Krookodile is pretty cool, but due to my limited play of Gen V, I don't know a whole lot about it. It's a pretty good attacker and it learns some cool moves including Dragon Claw, and hey, who doesn't love a Pokémon with a little bit of Dragon in them? :P

For PotW, I vote Greninja or Drapion, two of my favorites that we haven't mentioned.

  • Greninja is a cool Pokémon. It has a cool design and sports a very interesting hidden ability, where every move it uses gains STAB bonus. Not only that, but if I'm not mistaken it is the first starter to have dark for a secondary type.

However Drapion is interesting, and a fairly strong Pokémon too. Poison and Dark, it has an interesting movepool and its design isn't too dislikeable, but it certainly isn't my favourite.

If Absolute is a non-contender because it has appeared too recently or whatever, then I would second Greninja out of those, because I feel it is just a little bit better than Drapion.

But Absol is my vote haha

Never played Gen V, and others aren't giving much of a yay for Krookodile so my assumption is because it's a bad pokemon competitivly or it's just not a pokemon people would go to for a water/dark pokemon...

As for the next PotW... I would say Greninja as others have said, it is really interesting that this was the first starter with a dark sub-type... *Goes back to the first page to see all the dark types*

Maybe Sneezal as I've always seen it as a powerful pokemon, though I don't know much about it... I dunno XD Good luck with the choice.

Krookodile is actually Ground/Dark and I dont think people dislike it or think it's bad, they just haven't used it much. If you look at its stats and movepool, it's actually fairly good.

Omg we didnt do absol yet lol i forgot that!
And ya absol is a "contender" haha only one thats not is Sableye cause that will likely be a biggggggg discussion in the future :)

Krookodile does have some dragon in him i myself have used him twice he has a great move pool and is very good competitively especially on a ground mono he leads it haha. His typing is a.so cool as Tyranitar is rock and dark he bring ground and dark along with moxie which is awesome haha. I dont feel he'd get a mega soon maybe after a good amount of gen 4 pokes get there Megas oh and i agree eventually every poke will probably get a mega haha. But ya i do really like krookodile he was a fav in the anime as well as in unova it was pretty much just him and excadrill hehe.

Absol, Drapion and Greninja hmmm well we got a week or so so people can keep putting in their thoughts on who should be up haha perhaps it will be Greninja he is quite popular (i hate him with protein lol) im sure he will get a wide discussion haha. Ummm i think we will continue to discuss Krookodile for a while and then possibly a new topic unless i decide to skip to the next POTW to keep us on track or just go with the flow lol.

    So..... Maybe
Week of April 18th ~ POTW Krookodile
Week of April 25th ~ New Topic
    Week of May 2nd ~ POTW ???

Or should we go back on track with
Week of April 18th ~ POTW Krookodile
    Week of April 25th ~ POTW ???
Week of May 2nd ~ New Topic
Week of May 9th ~ POTW

Whichever seems fitting haha i dont like scheduling but i guess its nice to be organized lol

EDIT: Btw we have enough past topics to put in spoilers now so yay and i updated the current post with all past topics, current topics, old POTW, and a refreshed members list any errors let me know haha. Also for the new topics coming up whenever if anyone has a suggestion or something you could fly it by me and i can create it or just create it on the week that we decide on :3

Ok so that was a lot of talking i feel organized lol. (Oh and spoilers one of the upcoming POTW (not the one ur inputting) may be a dark/ghost :P)

Edit if the Edit: to well actually everyone and to new members you probably notice that i like to incorporate everyone in the club and dont exactly make decisions with my own imput haha. So its great to hear feedback from you guys on stuff ex. Better ways to run the club, events, other stuff, whatever you can think of you can post it here or vm me thanks for reading this! Also looking for people who could make some more userbars for the club it would be highly appreciated!

Ok ok edit of the edit of the other edit XD: ok so i have on more question for future POTWs i release we may one day run out of dark types :O but id like to know should i start doing POTW with unevolved pokemon as well? Would you guys like to dicuss them? Or the whole line as a whole? Feel free to drop your opinion!
So ya..... You may have just read this entire post if you did and feel like proving it say *Sableye* at the bottom of you next post as something fun haha
